Applied research is designed to answer specific questions aimed at solving practical problems. While fundamental research answers the initial question of how things work, new knowledge acquired from applied research has specific objectives in the form of products, procedures or services. The pace of change in the applied research and information mobilization has never been as fast as today. Whether designing, implementing, and evaluating applied research projects, or targeting and tailoring research evidence for decision-making, people who engage in applied research create meaning and impact across multiple sectors. In this graduate certificate program, you will learn practical research methodologies, data analytics, data visualization, and knowledge mobilization to accelerate the impact of applied research. The second semester allows you to work in interdisciplinary teams to implement your skills in an applied research impact project. In addition to this hands-on experience, you will have the opportunity to expand your real-world practice through an optional co-op term.

Business Administration - Accounting is one of five business administration programs at Conestoga College. Students in this advanced diploma program acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in an intermediate-level accounting position, along with the fundamentals necessary for advancement to managerial positions. Advanced financial accounting, managerial skills, cost-accounting systems and controls, computerized accounting and income tax knowledge are emphasized. Students learn computer skills in up-to-date labs, gaining familiarity with current versions of accounting software and other business software.

The Business – Finance program is a two-year diploma that prepares students for entry-level careers in the financial services sector. Students will acquire a broad range of customer service skills for a variety of employment settings in all sectors of business and industry, including banks and other financial institutions, government offices, small businesses and financial planning firms. Graduates of the program are able to apply computer, communication and mathematical skills, and employ financial planning and service techniques to support activities, including the maintenance, preparation and presentation of individuals’ or organizations’ financial documents and statements and individuals’ tax returns. In addition, graduates collaborate on a number of more complex functions, including financial analysis, planning and control.

You will develop the ability to write detailed requirements for system changes and enhancements and ensure system changes are well tested by developing test cases and managing defect resolution along with coordinating user acceptance testing. In addition, you will learn leading industry software to build a solid skills portfolio in data modelling, emerging technologies, project management, and change and risk management.

Global Business Management
The Global Business Management graduate program provides an internationally-focused body of knowledge and skills for individuals interested in extending their business understanding beyond the domestic environment. The curriculum emphasizes the skills and knowledge necessary to operate in different roles within international cultural, legal and political contexts. This broad-based program will explore the field of management both in theory and through practical applications considering different organizational lenses. Graduates will be eligible to apply for the FITT (Forum for International Trade Training) diploma, and the CITP (Certified International Trade Professional) designation (subject to one year of work experience).

Project Management

Develop the skills you need to oversee project management activities such as planning, managing scope, costs, time while balancing client expectations. Learn organizational Agility with practices such as Scrum. Establish goals for your project team and lead them to overcome obstacles to achieve success, meeting stakeholders needs. Earn project management education hours towards a variety of certifications: Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile Scrum Master (ASM), Risk Management Professional (RMP), or Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP) designations. Start with Conestoga's two-year diploma program in Game – Design, where you will learn how to create games, apps, and simulations for use in the games industry, entertainment, education, and beyond. Located in the technology hub of the country, Game - Design places you in the middle of the action with access to industry standard software and technology. Taught by faculty with extensive experience in the game world, this program is designed to provide you with a strong set of skills and knowledge for game design, gameplay programming, and employment across various parts of the production pipeline. Through individual and collaborative projects, the program also offers the chance to build a portfolio of original work, and a field placement opportunity to help you take your first steps into the industry.

The Educational Support program will prepare graduates to work effectively with learners of all ages with exceptionalities. Through this program, students will develop a variety of educational interventions and techniques that will allow them to become contributing members of an educational team working with learners with exceptionalities. They will experience real-life opportunities that connect theory and practice through in-class projects and engaging and meaningful work-integrated learning (WIL) experiences.

This program is designed to prepare students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to perform their role as occupational therapist assistants and physiotherapist assistants (OTAs and PTAs). OTAs and PTAs are primarily responsible for implementation of treatment plans to promote physical functioning or to enhance participation in activities of daily living for individuals with a wide range of health conditions. The program integrates classroom theory with hands-on practical skills learning in living lab settings. To enhance critical thinking, decision making and leadership skills, the program makes use of diverse learning opportunities such as small group case-based learning, simulation exercises, applied learning projects and e-learning. Exposure to clinical experiences across a variety of clinical settings is integrated into the curriculum to ensure students have an opportunity to apply skills in a supervised setting.

Conestoga's Bachelor of Public Relations degree was the first to be approved in Ontario and the fourth of its kind in Canada. Public relations is the management of communication between an organization and its public. Public relations specialists work in employee communication, media relations, investor relations, marketing communication and other specialized communication functions. This profession demands strong communication skills, diplomacy, strategic thinking and the ability to understand complex issues, and Conestoga's Bachelor of Public Relations degree responds with a case-based approach. The goal is to provide graduates with the critical thinking skills and the practical experience required to manage reputations, responses, and relationships on behalf of their organization.We offer students the opportunity to combine their learning with paid co-op terms to allow students to apply theory to public relations practice. Courses in public relations management, global public relations, business and project management, and the ethics and philosophy of public relations offer unique perspectives.Students will be encouraged to join one of several professional organizations during their degree program. The Animation industry is growing within Canada and there is a demand for Animation professionals. This two-year credential is designed to prepare graduates for animation opportunities in the fields of TV, film, game, and online production. As a student, this program provides you with the opportunity to bring life to characters and stories. Using your creative talents with drawing, animation and production techniques, along with strong storytelling skills, you will create a variety of 2D and 3D animations. A critical component of this program is the production pipeline and the ability to take an animation project from concept to completion. You will work in project-based learning environments and will create work to contribute to your e-portfolio. A field placement in the last semester of the program gives you direct access to the animation industry.
