Diploma in Office Administration - Health Services

This two-year professional program is designed to provide students with extensive practical understanding and knowledge to perform administrative support in a wide variety of medical environments.  The focus will be on medical terminology and transcription, medical billing, patient management, medical office procedures, medical ethics and research.  The emphasis will be on interpersonal, communication, organizational, technical, and problem-solving skills applied to enhance the effective operation of the medical environment.

Expert training in computerized medical records systems, billing systems and other office equipment technology applications will be combined with analytical and multitasking strategies to facilitate scheduling, decision making, co-ordination and task completion.  Utilizing these skills, students will be capable of overseeing a variety of medical office environments.  Researching, developing, and presenting accurate medical documentation, correspondence and reports will be emphasized.

A four-week medical office environment workplace component will provide the student with practical, hands-on experience and the opportunity to apply the theories and concepts learned in the Office Administration - Health Services program classroom.  The importance of professional ethics, privacy and confidentiality will be highlighted throughout the program.

The curriculum focuses on the practical skills used by entry-level auto body repairers: welding, refinishing, and body and frame repair. You will work behind the camera producing a variety of films and shows that includes narratives, documentaries, live sports, news, commercials and promotions with your talented and passionate classmates. There are opportunities to produce, shoot or edit programs that will be aired throughout the region or shown at film festivals, reaching thousands of viewers. When you graduate, you will have experienced all areas of creative and technical roles including, studio production, cinematic production, field production, mobile sports production, computer graphics, post-production editing, scriptwriting and sales, marketing and entrepreneurship. This three-year Commercial Flight and Aviation Leadership Advanced Diploma is designed to prepare domestic and international students for a career in aviation. 

The program includes training in the following areas:

In this program students will complete a Canadian Private and Commercial Pilot license including night, multi-engine and instrument ratings.  Graduates will be able to seek opportunities in Aviation flight operations and business ventures as well as professional flight positions.

Business - Marketing (Co-op) is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program with a co-operative education component. This program provides students with a strong foundation to gain entry to a variety of marketing career paths. Courses cover topics such as customer analysis, segmentation, and targeting; integrated marketing communications; pricing and distribution strategies; and product and service development and management. Hands-on activities include market research studies, advertising campaigns, sales and business plans - many of these activities involving live clients from industry. Students learn to use current software programs, including presentation, spreadsheet, graphic design and publishing applications. Graduates receive full credit toward a credential with the Canadian Institute of Marketing and earn credits towards the Certified Sales Professional designation offered by the Canadian Professional Sales Association. Graduates who meet admission requirements are eligible for transfer to the Business Administration - Marketing Advanced Diploma program.

Other Information

  • The Business - Marketing (Co-op) program shares a common first level with all business diploma programs in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business which allows for program transfer, with no loss of credit, after Level 1.
  • Graduates of the two-year Business - Marketing (Co-op) Ontario College Diploma program may apply for program transfer to the Business Administration - Marketing Ontario College Advanced Diploma program or the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Digital Marketing) Degree program. Application for Program Transfer" forms are available from the Office of the Registrar, Room E1012.  
  • All program levels are offered in the fall and winter terms to allow students to make continuous progression to meet personal or co-op education needs. Levels 1, 2 and 3 run in the summer term.
  • Students entering Level 1 of the program in January are expected to proceed into Level 2 of the program in the summer term. Students entering Level 1 of the program in February or May will proceed to Level 2 of the program in September.
  • Graduates may be eligible for admission to the following Graduate Certificate programs in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business: Agri-Business Management, Human Resources Management, International Business Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Marketing Management, Operations Management, Professional Financial Services, or Project Management. Graduate Certificate programs deliver a specialized professional curriculum in two four-month levels.

The Aviation Technology Aircraft Maintenance and Avionics (Co-op) Advanced Diploma is a Transport Canada approved program (TC-2018-02-4248) that provides students with the knowledge and skills required to start a career in aircraft maintenance and/or  avionics maintenance. This program will cover all aspects of aircraft maintenance including systems used in general aviation, corporate, and charter transport category aircraft as well as helicopters. The program will also include avionics training for service, repair, and maintenance of aircraft electrical and electronic systems such as communication, navigation, and data systems.

Learning Outcomes
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to

  • Service, test, troubleshoot and repair aircraft and systems on large or small, fixed or rotary wing aircraft in accordance with manufacturers' specified instructions, accepted aviation techniques/practices and the requirements of the Canadian aviation regulations.
  • Evaluate fixed wing and rotary aircraft structures and complete maintenance, assembly, fabrication, and structural repair work on large and small aircrafts in accordance with technical manuals, standard practices, and standards of performance and safety.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections on aircraft structural, operational, environmental, communication, navigation, surveillance, and flight guidance systems to ensure they are in proper working order and meet standards of performance and safety.
  • Remove, install, and configure airframe and avionics parts, components, and line replaceable units as part of unscheduled maintenance and out-of-phase tasks.
  • Remove, install, and configure the aircraft power plant and accessories on both turbine and piston engines.
  • Remove, install, configure, test, and evaluate function and operation of instrument, communication, navigation, surveillance, and flight guidance systems.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and defects in aircraft systems, avionics systems, and related components using technical manuals, drawings, wiring diagrams, engineering orders, and standards of performance and safety.
  • Evaluate component wear and fatigue using appropriate measuring devices to determine necessary repair or replacement tasks in order to maintain the aircraft's airworthiness and safety.
  • Complete airworthiness directives, manufacturers' service bulletin, and engineering modification tasks on aircraft systems, avionics systems, and structures.
  • Dismantle and reassemble airframes, aircraft engines, and electrical and electronic systems for repair and overhaul.
  • Interpret written instructions, schematics, manufacturers' specifications, technical drawings, manuals, and computer-based information while performing routine and unscheduled tasks.
  • Maintain detailed inspection, repair, maintenance, and certification records and reports to meet industry regulations and logbook requirements.
  • Perform all work in accordance with health and safety regulations, manufacturers' specifications, and Transport Canada guidelines.

The Advanced Filmmaking program is an Ontario College Graduate Certificate program which builds upon the students previous diploma/degree skills by providing opportunities to work in cross-functional teams to create both narrative and documentary films, television productions, and other media. Students will collaborate with students in other College programs (television, acting, fashion, multimedia, music industry arts) in the creation of digital media products.
