Overview

This three-year Commercial Flight and Aviation Leadership Advanced Diploma is designed to prepare domestic and international students for a career in aviation. 

The program includes training in the following areas:

  • Safety management systems
  • Canadian Aviation Regulations
  • Flight operations
  • Professional standards and practices

In this program students will complete a Canadian Private and Commercial Pilot license including night, multi-engine and instrument ratings.  Graduates will be able to seek opportunities in Aviation flight operations and business ventures as well as professional flight positions. 

Flight training will be delivered by Diamond Flight Centre London Inc., located at the London International Airport. The Game - Design program at Fanshawe College is an intensive three-year advanced diploma focusing on the tools and techniques necessary to gain employment in the video game industry. The goal of the program is to provide students with the professional and artistic skills necessary to create compelling and innovative games.

Students will develop 2D and 3D skills by studying a curriculum focused initially on the core principles of video game creation. Foundation courses including art & design theory, modelling, animation, texturing, anatomy and drawing will provide the basis for understanding the various components that make up a video game. An integral part of the Game - Design program at Fanshawe College is its relationship to the local community. London, Ontario has a vibrant and growing video game industry. Professionals from this community include game designers, animators, producers and art directors who will play an important role by providing mentorship to students through critique and guest lectures.

Diploma in Office Administration - Health Services

This two-year professional program is designed to provide students with extensive practical understanding and knowledge to perform administrative support in a wide variety of medical environments.  The focus will be on medical terminology and transcription, medical billing, patient management, medical office procedures, medical ethics and research.  The emphasis will be on interpersonal, communication, organizational, technical, and problem-solving skills applied to enhance the effective operation of the medical environment.

Expert training in computerized medical records systems, billing systems and other office equipment technology applications will be combined with analytical and multitasking strategies to facilitate scheduling, decision making, co-ordination and task completion.  Utilizing these skills, students will be capable of overseeing a variety of medical office environments.  Researching, developing, and presenting accurate medical documentation, correspondence and reports will be emphasized.

Business - Human Resources is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program. Students learn business basics such as accounting, communications, and computer applications, then focus on HR subjects such as training and development, recruitment, compensation, benefits, employment law and occupational health and safety.  In addition, students have the opportunity to achieve six of the nine Certified Human Resources Professional/Leader (CHRP/CHRL) credits. In their final semester, in class students have the opportunity to participate in a mentorship with an HR professional to experience first-hand the HR workplace environment. This program emphasizes the dynamic role of the Doula within communities to prepare graduates for a rewarding career collaborating with health care teams to honour and advocate for expectant families throughout the full spectrum of their reproductive journey. The curriculum captures the specialized evidence-informed knowledge, skills, and experience relating to anatomy, physiology, and the emotional, physical, and cultural aspects of pregnancy and birth required by Doulas to provide families with information and support during pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, and including loss. In addition, students are introduced to business management/entrepreneurship concepts and strategies, including business ethics, contracts, marketing and sales techniques, and personal financial management.

  • Examine the historical, political, and cultural aspects of the provision of maternity care both locally and globally and identify how they shape the experiences of contemporary mothering to meet the needs of clients.

The Network and Security Architecture Graduate Certificate program will cover the key aspects of designing, deploying, supporting, and securing small, medium, and enterprise network and server infrastructures. It will cover the fundamentals of advanced networking and security concepts to work in almost any situation and meet the security challenges that are presented.

Co-operative Education
In order to be eligible for co-op, students must achieve and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and be academically complete at the commencement of their co-op work term (Fall intake; completed all courses and Winter intake; completed all first semester courses) prior to the commencement of their co-op work term.  The co-op work term will always be the summer semester regardless of whether the student is in the Fall or Winter intake.

Students who do not achieve a 2.5 GPA or above will not be eligible for co-op and if for any other reason they do not obtain a co-op placement they can still graduate provided they achieve a 2.0 GPA or above but will not receive the Co-op Endorsed Certificate. Interior designers focus on the planning, design and detailing of interior space to improve the quality of people's physical environment. The four-year Honours Bachelor of Interior Design program covers both commercial and residential design, providing comprehensive treatment of all facets of interior design including research, problem analysis, concept development, design communication, drawings and specifications, technology, verbal and visual presentation methods, construction, and business practice. The courses develop students' skills as creative designers who can formulate, propose and execute creative design solutions for the physical, social and psychological needs of a changing society. Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program.  The program prepares students to work under the direction of Occupational Therapists and/or Physiotherapists to support the therapeutic assessment, treatment and care of clients.  Curriculum delivered through both web-facilitated classroom and laboratory instruction includes the role of the OTA/PTA in relation to clients musculoskeletal, cardiorespiratory, and neurological functions and conditions.  Students engage in three clinical placement opportunities throughout the program, including at least one placement each in an Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy setting.
