Overview

The Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resources Management) program is a four-year, honours level degree with a mandatory co-op work term between Levels 7 and 8.  Students will study core fundamentals of business including business strategy, management, accounting, leadership and marketing in addition to the specialized human resources management courses, including performance management, human resources planning, talent acquisition, employee and labour relations and compensation and benefits administration. All nine CHRP course credits required for professional licensing bodies are included in this program.

  • Evaluate Human Resources plans to ensure alignment with organizational goals and responsiveness to current and future labour market conditions.

The Developmental Services Worker two-year diploma program prepares its graduates to support people with developmental disabilities so that these individuals may participate fully in their communities. DSW have the specialized knowledge and skills required to work with people with developmental disabilities across the life span.

Inherent to the role of a DSW is an ability to collaborate and build relationships with people with developmental disabilities and their families and to work with colleagues and members of inter-professional teams to facilitate a seamless network of support for people.

This program emphasizes the dynamic role of the Doula within communities to prepare graduates for a rewarding career collaborating with health care teams to honour and advocate for expectant families throughout the full spectrum of their reproductive journey. The curriculum captures the specialized evidence-informed knowledge, skills, and experience relating to anatomy, physiology, and the emotional, physical, and cultural aspects of pregnancy and birth required by Doulas to provide families with information and support during pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, and including loss. The Addictions and Mental Health one-year program will be beneficial for seasoned practitioners who are committed to maintaining currency, and/or who are seeking career advancement. Students who are newly graduated from post-secondary may also wish to enroll in this program to deepen their knowledge and skill base prior to entering the workforce. Opportunities to work in varying sectors such as child, adult, family and gerontology-based programs may broaden for students who complete this Graduate Certificate. This program is structured for individuals with previous BIM experience who are looking to expand their knowledge in a rapidly growing sector of the AEC industry. Courses will explore current industry topics such as, BIM Implementation and Procurement, BIM Management and Workflows; BIM Integration (Clash Detection; Reality Capture) and Collaboration using BIM tools among many other relevant items. These courses will provide the student with greater insight in the world of BIM and Integrated Practice methods for the construction sector.

The Network and Security Architecture Graduate Certificate program will cover the key aspects of designing, deploying, supporting, and securing small, medium, and enterprise network and server infrastructures. It will cover the fundamentals of advanced networking and security concepts to work in almost any situation and meet the security challenges that are presented.

Co-operative Education
In order to be eligible for co-op, students must achieve and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and be academically complete at the commencement of their co-op work term (Fall intake; completed all courses and Winter intake; completed all first semester courses) prior to the commencement of their co-op work term.  The co-op work term will always be the summer semester regardless of whether the student is in the Fall or Winter intake.

Students who do not achieve a 2.5 GPA or above will not be eligible for co-op and if for any other reason they do not obtain a co-op placement they can still graduate provided they achieve a 2.0 GPA or above but will not receive the Co-op Endorsed Certificate. Business - Human Resources is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program. Students learn business basics such as accounting, communications, and computer applications, then focus on HR subjects such as training and development, recruitment, compensation, benefits, employment law and occupational health and safety.  In addition, students have the opportunity to achieve six of the nine Certified Human Resources Professional/Leader (CHRP/CHRL) credits. In their final semester, in class students have the opportunity to participate in a mentorship with an HR professional to experience first-hand the HR workplace environment. Graduates are in demand for HR generalist  jobs as well as in recruiting, compensation and benefits, training and development and health and safety. Graduates who meet admission requirements are eligible for transfer to the Business Administration - Human Resources Advanced Diploma program where they will have the opportunity to achieve the balance of the CHRP/CHRL credits (three additional credits).
