Overview

The Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resources Management) program is a four-year, honours level degree with a mandatory co-op work term between Levels 7 and 8.  Students will study core fundamentals of business including business strategy, management, accounting, leadership and marketing in addition to the specialized human resources management courses, including performance management, human resources planning, talent acquisition, employee and labour relations and compensation and benefits administration. All nine CHRP course credits required for professional licensing bodies are included in this program.

It is a three-year, seven level program with up to 16 months of paid co-op experience. The Aviation Technology - Aircraft Maintenance and Avionics Advanced Diploma is a Transport Canada approved program (TC-2018-02-4248) that provides students with the knowledge and skills required to start a career in aircraft maintenance and/or aircraft avionics maintenance. This program will cover all aspects of aircraft maintenance including systems used in general aviation, corporate, and charter transport category aircraft as well as helicopters. The program will also include avionics training for service, repair, and maintenance of aircraft electrical and electronic systems such as communication, navigation, and data systems.

The Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) program is a four-year, honours level degree with a mandatory co-op work term between Levels 7 and 8. Students will study many aspects of accounting including financial accounting, cost accounting, management accounting, business finance, auditing and taxation in addition to a variety of general business management concepts including business strategy, marketing and human resources. The program will satisfy the degree requirements for all accounting professional bodies and will be closely aligned with the requirements for the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (CPA). Students will be required to write certification exams for the professional bodies after graduation and fulfill experience requirements as part of the certification process for any professional body.

The two term Construction Project Management program will focus on the knowledge and skills required to advance in the construction industry to a management position, acknowledging the new demands of this role that include the theory and practice of managing a residential, industrial, commercial and institutional (I.C.I.) construction project from start to finish, while working inter-professionally and coordinating the work with a variety of other trades/professions. Apply your knowledge in a co-op work experience with professionals within golf course management. You’ll gain further employable skills in food and beverage service and culinary management on-campus through The Chef’s Table restaurant and cafe.

This tailor-made co-operative education program allows applicants the opportunity to explore the numerous career opportunities available in the ever growing golf and club industry. Inspired by the Canadian Society of Club Managers (CSCM), this program fosters the core educational competencies required to excel in a career in club management.  Students will develop expertise in business and financial management, golf club and turf services and food and beverage operations with a hospitality focus. Theoretical studies will be supported by practical exposure in all areas of golf and club facilities. Students will gain an appreciation for proactive customer service and the relation to business development. Upon graduation, students are prepared to get their Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation.

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  • Identify the inherent risks associated with operating a healthy and safe golf and recreational club environment;
  • Apply contemporary business administration skills to the management of golf and recreational club facilities;
  • Contribute to the effective coordination of a golf and recreational club operations;
  • Apply the principles of marketing, sales and merchandising as it relates to various business operations within club facilities;
  • Contribute to the implementation of on-going strategies for optimal customer service and relations;
  • Apply the fundamental principles and techniques necessary for maintenance and sustainability of golf and recreational club facilities;
  • Research and plan strategically for the effective operation of golf and recreational club facilities;
  • Contribute to strategies for effectively managing the performance and development of staff and volunteers;
  • Develop entrepreneurial strategies for the operation and management of golf and club facilities;
  • Provide effective Food and Beverage service delivery & management, including customer service and coordination of special events;
  • Adapt to various and changing technologies, systems and applications for the golf & club management industry;
  • Support the maintenance/care regime needed in order to sustain the turf and garden areas of the golf and/or recreational club facility.
