Fashion Design is a three year co-operative Ontario College Advanced Diploma program providing professional career-directed training in the development, production management and marketing of apparel design. Through classroom theory, lecture, lab work, field trips and work term experience, skills are applied. Networking with industry professionals promotes future employment opportunities. Emphasis is placed on design analysis, apparel manufacturing and technology, and design communications and marketing. Skills such as fashion illustration, computer-aided design, pattern-making and draping, and garment construction techniques are taught, and supported by studies of textile technology, historical research, manufacturing processes and applied computerized technology in the fashion industry. The program fosters creative and independent problem solving in students, preparing them for a future in the various sectors of the rapidly changing fashion industry.

Co-operative Education

Construction Engineering Technology is a two-year diploma for students interested in overseeing the construction of residential, industrial and commercial projects. Students will learn to estimate project costs, develop a construction plan, schedule projects, and perform on-site inspections using the latest technology. Graduates will be prepared for their career by learning soft skills required to be an effective leader.

The program provides training in the skills required for on-site general carpentry and construction work, including the safe operation and maintenance of hand, portable, and stationary power tools. Students will study the layout and construction of a residential build from footings through roof framing. Emphasis is placed on developing and practicing the hands-on skills needed in the field.

Companies are increasingly challenged with how to collect and make sense of vast amounts of data in order to improve their competitive position. A critical role in the facilitation of software/system development for the purpose of collecting data will be played by the Technical Systems Analyst. This IT professional will interface with organizational areas to gather their business (data) requirements and translate them into functional systems design specifications that can be successfully implemented by IT teams. In order to fulfill this role, the candidate must have a solid foundation in IT supplemented by the critical skills to be developed in this program, including: application software development, business data analysis and modeling, customer engagement/communications management, business process and enterprise resource planning. A key part of this graduate program is the applied aspects of the curriculum. Students will have the opportunity to engage in the process of business analysis for information technology (IT) through case studies and industry-based projects.

This two-year professional program is designed to provide students with extensive practical understanding and knowledge to perform administrative support in a wide variety of medical environments.  The focus will be on medical terminology and transcription, medical billing, patient management, medical office procedures, medical ethics and research.  The emphasis will be on interpersonal, communication, organizational, technical, and problem-solving skills applied to enhance the effective operation of the medical environment.

Expert training in computerized medical records systems, billing systems and other office equipment technology applications will be combined with analytical and multitasking strategies to facilitate scheduling, decision making, co-ordination and task completion.  Utilizing these skills, students will be capable of overseeing a variety of medical office environments.  Researching, developing, and presenting accurate medical documentation, correspondence and reports will be emphasized.

A four-week medical office environment workplace component will provide the student with practical, hands-on experience and the opportunity to apply the theories and concepts learned in the Office Administration - Health Services program classroom.  The importance of professional ethics, privacy and confidentiality will be highlighted throughout the program.

This three-year Commercial Flight and Aviation Leadership Advanced Diploma is designed to prepare domestic and international students for a career in aviation. 

The program includes training in the following areas:

• Canadian Aviation Regulations
• Flight operations
• Professional standards and practices

In this program students will complete a Canadian Private and Commercial Pilot license including night, multi-engine and instrument ratings.  Graduates will be able to seek opportunities in Aviation flight operations and business ventures as well as professional flight positions.

This one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate program will provide students with the specialized knowledge and skills required for a career in aircraft maintenance and repair.  The curriculum is designed around the standardized quality management system for the aerospace industry (AS9100) to prepare graduates for a work environment that adheres to that system's requirements.  Practical elements of Aerospace Manufacturing skills, work-environment readiness, safety management systems, materials handling and tooling will be the focus of this Graduate Certificate. The program will be delivered in a face-to-face (web-facilitated) format.

Fanshawe College's Law Clerk (Co-op) program is designed to provide students with a solid grounding in legal principles combined with the practical law clerk training that students will need to enter the diverse, fast-paced modern field of law. As a graduate of the Law Clerk program you will work as part of a team in law firms, corporate legal departments, financial institutions, insurance companies, legal technology providers, title insurance companies, Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments or in any other capacity where a legal environment exists. Depending upon your choice of career path, you could find yourself preparing motion records and trial documentation, interviewing witnesses, arranging trial dates and adjournments, drafting corporate/commercial documentation, completing Family Law Act financial statements, administering estates, negotiating leases, administering contracts, completing legal research, searching titles or processing real estate transactions. At Fanshawe College you will learn about many areas of Canadian law including civil litigation, corporate/commercial, debtor and creditor rights, real estate, landlord and tenant, estate administration, family law and contracts. You will refine your communication and information processing skills as you learn how to research, analyze and write in the legal environment. You will develop an ability to work with a variety of leading-edge legal software applications and online commercial legal databases and services.

Co-operative Education
In order to be eligible for co-op, students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and be academically complete at the commencement of their co-op work term.

The Supply Chain Management - Logistics (Co-op) program will satisfy all of your managerial ambitions within this field. This one-year graduate certificate is designed for university and college graduates looking for a career in the logistics and supply chain sector. You'll be trained to join private or public sectors, learning how to analyze on computer software, while nurturing your negotiating skills. Examining managerial accounting, and professional communication, you will also learn the finer points of material sourcing, distribution management and risk assessment. When you graduate, you'll have the skills to improve an organization's operations and profitability. You'll be in demand with career options in procurement, logistics, planning, inventory management, transportation, customer service, customs coordination and related supply chain processes.

This program emphasizes the dynamic role of the Doula within communities to prepare graduates for a rewarding career collaborating with health care teams to honour and advocate for expectant families throughout the full spectrum of their reproductive journey. The curriculum captures the specialized evidence-informed knowledge, skills, and experience relating to anatomy, physiology, and the emotional, physical, and cultural aspects of pregnancy and birth required by Doulas to provide families with information and support during pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, and including loss. In addition, students are introduced to business management/entrepreneurship concepts and strategies, including business ethics, contracts, marketing and sales techniques, and personal financial management.

• Assist with the delivery of family-centred maternity care in collaboration with members of the health care team.
• Examine the historical, political, and cultural aspects of the provision of maternity care both locally and globally and identify how they shape the experiences of contemporary mothering to meet the needs of clients.
• Apply knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of a woman during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum to address the concerns and needs of clients.
•  Provide evidence-informed physical, emotional, physiological, and psychosexual support to enhance the comfort, health, and well-being of individuals and families as they negotiate the various transitions associated with pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
• Provide families with community and online resources related to the childbearing years to empower clients to make evidence-informed choices regarding pregnancy and birth options and newborn care, including infant and newborn nutrition.
• Describe diagnostic testing procedures and medical interventions routinely used during pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postpartum period, and recognize the normal ranges and parameters for those test results.
• Identify early signs of maternal physical and mental health concerns, and refer clients to appropriate community resources in a timely manner.
