Co-operative Education

Business - Logistics and Supply Chain Management (Co-op) is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program with a co-operative education component. The curriculum covers theory and application of supply chain management in private and public sector environments. Specifically, courses address material sourcing, transportation methods, inventory, retail management, negotiation skills and analytical techniques. Students also enhance their computer skills and their business communication skills. The program aligns to the curriculum of various professional associations in supply chain management. Graduates, equipped with the skills required to improve an organization's profitability and operations, are in high demand in both the private and public sector.

Co-operative Education

• In order to be eligible for co-op, students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and be academically complete at the commencement of their co-op work term.

Business analysts drive change within organizations; they maintain a vibrant and dynamic skill set in today's fast paced world. This one-year (3 semesters) graduate certificate is designed for university and college graduates looking for a career as a business analyst within large organizations and is closely aligned with the role of a project manager.  Learning within the program is focused on the gathering, comprehension and management of project requirements to meet the strategic, tactical and financial goals of an organization.  A mandatory co-op term in semester 3 offers students the opportunity to apply their skills as a business analyst within a variety of organizations.

The Construction Engineering Technology program will develop the technical knowledge and skills required to oversee and manage the construction of residential, industrial, commercial and institutional projects - from the conceptual planning phase through to project completion and contract closeout. 

Students within the advanced diploma will learn how to estimate labour, material and costs, write and understand contacts, establish a project’s budget, develop a site logistic plan, schedule and manage construction projects, and perform on-site field engineering, field inspections, and utilize the latest onsite technology. You'll also learn the soft skills required to be an effective, respected leader - both in the office and on-site.

The Construction Engineering Technology  - Management program offers a co-operative education component, which provides students the opportunity to gain invaluable first-hand workplace experience in their chosen field. The two term Construction Project Management program will focus on the knowledge and skills required to advance in the construction industry to a management position, acknowledging the new demands of this role that include the theory and practice of managing a residential, industrial, commercial and institutional (I.C.I.) construction project from start to finish, while working inter-professionally and coordinating the work with a variety of other trades/professions. This program is also designed to meet the need for people with out-of-Canada qualifications such as architects and engineers to use their skills and qualify for these well paid, rewarding jobs.

Fanshawe College's Law Clerk program is designed to provide students with a solid grounding in legal principles combined with the practical law clerk training that students will need to enter the diverse, fast-paced, modern field of law. As a graduate of the Law Clerk program you will work as part of a team in law firms, corporate legal departments, financial institutions, insurance companies, legal technology providers, title insurance companies, Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments or in any other capacity where a legal environment exists. Depending upon your choice of career path, you could find yourself preparing motion records and trial documentation, interviewing witnesses, arranging trial dates and adjournments, drafting corporate/commercial documentation, completing Family Law Act financial statements, administering estates, negotiating leases, administering contracts, completing legal research, searching titles or processing real estate transactions. At Fanshawe College you will learn about many areas of Canadian law including civil litigation, corporate/commercial, debtor and creditor rights, real estate, landlord and tenant, estate administration, family law and contracts. You will refine your communication and information processing skills as you learn how to research, analyze and write in the legal environment. This two-year diploma program focuses on business fundamentals with strong experiential learning components. Graduate with the operations experience and business acumen to manage and operate a successful golf or recreational club, while also learning about club sports with a focus on golf. 

Develop your passion for golf through visits to various courses, guest speakers and coaches from PGA of Canada, access to our golf simulator and a membership to all City of London golf courses. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with a wide variety of industry professionals within the resort and golf and club industries. Hone your golf, racquet sports and curling games through instruction from PGA of Canada golf pros, and expand your learning through field trips to learn new technologies and teaching methodologies at simulator facilities, various resorts and golf clubs, as well as an optional golf trip to Orlando, Florida

Apply your knowledge in a co-op work experience with professionals within golf course management. You’ll gain further employable skills in food and beverage service and culinary management on-campus through The Chef’s Table restaurant and cafe.

This tailor-made co-operative education program allows applicants the opportunity to explore the numerous career opportunities available in the ever growing golf and club industry. Inspired by the Canadian Society of Club Managers (CSCM), this program fosters the core educational competencies required to excel in a career in club management.  Students will develop expertise in business and financial management, golf club and turf services and food and beverage operations with a hospitality focus. Theoretical studies will be supported by practical exposure in all areas of golf and club facilities. Students will gain an appreciation for proactive customer service and the relation to business development. Upon graduation, students are prepared to get their Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation.

The Developmental Services Worker two-year diploma program prepares its graduates to support people with developmental disabilities so that these individuals may participate fully in their communities. DSW have the specialized knowledge and skills required to work with people with developmental disabilities across the life span.

Inherent to the role of a DSW is an ability to collaborate and build relationships with people with developmental disabilities and their families and to work with colleagues and members of inter-professional teams to facilitate a seamless network of support for people.

Courses focus on disabilities, person directed supports, inclusion and community resources, dual diagnosis, interpersonal skills, counselling, health, pharmacology, development, teaching and intervention strategies. Field placements in community agencies and/or schools are part of the curriculum.

The curriculum emphasizes a broad perspective of health and healing, health promotion and the ethic of caring. It takes into account health care needs in society and a changing health care system. The program educates nurses to work with individuals, families, groups, and communities in diverse settings which enables students to develop sensitivity to peoples' experiences with health, healing, and illness. Students learn to work in partnerships with clients, and interprofessional health care providers while actively participating in their own learning. Faculty and students work together in a collaborative, cooperative-learning relationship. Successful graduates from the program will be eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX - RN) for Canadian nursing entry- to-practice.

The Human Services Foundation program provides a broad education in understanding human behaviour and serves as a foundation for preparing the student to enter specific people helping career programs. Basic academic coursework relevant to human services and volunteer experience in a human services setting combine to provide a comprehensive introduction to the field of helping.
