Diploma in Motive Power Technician (Diesel)

This graduate certificate program is designed to prepare students to teach English as a Second (or Foreign) Language in Canada and/or overseas.  The program covers topics integrating theoretical, pedagogical, and practical applications for teaching English as a second or foreign language, meeting educational standards set by TESL Ontario.  Additionally, this program includes courses to enhance professional and intercultural communication skills, knowledge, and experience.

Professional Accounting is a three level program that enables students from any undergraduate discipline to complete a graduate certificate in Accounting.
Upon completion of the program, students will have completed all entry and technical courses of the Advanced Certificate in Accounting (ACAF) offered by CPA Canada.  Students will still need to complete four applied courses which are offered through Part-Time Studies at Fanshawe College. The ACAF program is the only standardized national education program in Canada for intermediate accounting positions.  Students that complete the program will also be eligible for some exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Courses will be enriched with hands-on integrated technology applications and case studies based on real-world scenarios. Further real-world industry exposure will be maximized with guest speakers and hands-on projects.  The program is designed to integrate all of the course topics and to develop students critical thinking skills, research skills, and decision-making skills.
Students will make extensive use of Microsoft Excel and other software used in the accounting industry.

This program blends theory with hands-on application of theoretical principles delivered through course work and field practicum.  Students in this program will develop their knowledge and professional skills in areas such as child development and best practices in early childhood; the early childhood educator's role and responsibilities; the importance of play in children's learning; family involvement and curriculum design and implementation.
When the student graduates they will have the knowledge and necessary skills to work with children, families and community in the context of early learning and development programs for children from birth to age twelve. The student will be prepared to work in a variety of settings, including child care centres, early learning and family centres, Best Start programs, before and after school programs and with school boards.

Business - Marketing (Co-op) is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program with a co-operative education component. This program provides students with a strong foundation to gain entry to a variety of marketing career paths. Courses cover topics such as customer analysis, segmentation, and targeting; integrated marketing communications; pricing and distribution strategies; and product and service development and management. Hands-on activities include market research studies, advertising campaigns, sales and business plans - many of these activities involving live clients from industry. Students learn to use current software programs, including presentation, spreadsheet, graphic design and publishing applications. Graduates receive full credit toward a credential with the Canadian Institute of Marketing and earn credits towards the Certified Sales Professional designation offered by the Canadian Professional Sales Association. Graduates who meet admission requirements are eligible for transfer to the Business Administration - Marketing Advanced Diploma program.

Other Information

• The Business - Marketing (Co-op) program shares a common first level with all business diploma programs in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business which allows for program transfer, with no loss of credit, after Level 1.
• Graduates of the two-year Business - Marketing (Co-op) Ontario College Diploma program may apply for program transfer to the Business Administration - Marketing Ontario College Advanced Diploma program or the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Digital Marketing) Degree program. Application for Program Transfer" forms are available from the Office of the Registrar, Room E1012.  
• All program levels are offered in the fall and winter terms to allow students to make continuous progression to meet personal or co-op education needs. Levels 1, 2 and 3 run in the summer term.
• Students entering Level 1 of the program in January are expected to proceed into Level 2 of the program in the summer term. Students entering Level 1 of the program in February or May will proceed to Level 2 of the program in September.
• Graduates may be eligible for admission to the following Graduate Certificate programs in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business: Agri-Business Management, Human Resources Management, International Business Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Marketing Management, Operations Management, Professional Financial Services, or Project Management. Graduate Certificate programs deliver a specialized professional curriculum in two four-month levels.
• This program is eligible for consideration of college to college transfer of credits under the Ontario Provincial ONCAT agreement.

Co-operative Education
In order to be eligible for co-op, students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and be academically complete at the commencement of their co-op work term.

The Supply Chain Management - Logistics (Co-op) program will satisfy all of your managerial ambitions within this field. This one-year graduate certificate is designed for university and college graduates looking for a career in the logistics and supply chain sector. You'll be trained to join private or public sectors, learning how to analyze on computer software, while nurturing your negotiating skills. Examining managerial accounting, and professional communication, you will also learn the finer points of material sourcing, distribution management and risk assessment. When you graduate, you'll have the skills to improve an organization's operations and profitability. You'll be in demand with career options in procurement, logistics, planning, inventory management, transportation, customer service, customs coordination and related supply chain processes.

This three-year program provides students with a strong basic knowledge of Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology with focus on the concepts of air, water and waste water management. In particular, the program emphasizes in-depth training in the principles and procedures of measurement and analysis techniques, and legislation for air, water and waste.

The Construction Engineering Technology program will develop the technical knowledge and skills required to oversee and manage the construction of residential, industrial, commercial and institutional projects - from the conceptual planning phase through to project completion and contract closeout. 

Students within the advanced diploma will learn how to estimate labour, material and costs, write and understand contacts, establish a project’s budget, develop a site logistic plan, schedule and manage construction projects, and perform on-site field engineering, field inspections, and utilize the latest onsite technology. You'll also learn the soft skills required to be an effective, respected leader - both in the office and on-site.

The Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program provides students with the opportunity to study subject areas relevant to health career programs at Fanshawe College and to instill an appreciation of the professional roles, responsibilities and academic requirements of health care disciplines. The goal of the program is to prepare students for their chosen health career program.

In this one-year graduate certificate program, students will study analytical chemistry lab techniques, cannabis crop science, and microbiology in order to apply their scientific knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the emerging cannabis industry. The program prepares students to analyze cannabis for quality, safety, and stability, and contribute to research and development, including the development of new cannabis products. In addition to scientific techniques, students will study the regulatory context of the cannabis industry, and develop their scientific communication and project management skills.
