Automotive Sales is a one-year Ontario Graduate Certificate program. You’ll begin the program by creating a strong foundation in the fundamentals of technical sales and marketing, quickly moving into specialized training in new media marketing, CRM enabled selling, emerging transportation technologies, marketing management and more. This program is also an opportunity for further study for graduates of business programs and of motive power programs. It also provides a pathway to a post-graduate opportunity for journey-people with a Red Seal in a relevant trade.

Learning outcomes
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

• Prepare and deliver a sales presentation based on an analysis of clients’ knowledge base and needs to assist the client in making a fully informed purchase.
• Collaborate with team members to market the corporate brand and meet sales targets in order to contribute to the achievement of the company’s strategic goals.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with clients to secure their loyalty to the salesperson and the corporate brand.
• Conceptualize, develop and implement a business plan to manage personal brand and sales goals.

The Design Foundations Certificate program is for students who are interested in exploring a career in design. This foundation year introduces students to the fundamentals of 2D and 3D design principles, drawing and colour theory, idea development, research, presentation skills, portfolio development, design technologies, and communication skills. Students experience a year of goal-setting, learning new skills and refining existing skills with the guidance from industry experts through a variety of hands-on projects.

Graduates can use their portfolio and refined skills to move towards a career or pursue further studies in Interior Decorating, Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, Graphic Design, GIS and Urban Planning, Landscape Design, Horticulture Technician and Theatre Arts - Technical Production.

Learning Outcomes:

• Create two and three-dimensional designs using a wide range of materials, processes, techniques and relevant computer technologies.
• Use the design process to develop and solve visual problems using various strategies for idea generation.
• Apply the formal elements and principles of design to creative work.
• Utilize a variety of presentation skills across a wide range of media appropriate to portfolios, public and private venues.
• Develop skills in portfolio presentation in a variety of media through studio-based projects.
• Articulate art and design concepts, history and the role of art and design in society to the general public.
• Create original design solutions through the use of creative problem solving, idea mapping and research that supports the design project within given parameters.

This graduate certificate program is designed to offer students the relevant knowledge and skills needed to enhance their professional practice in the care of the specialized population of aging adults.  Students will have the opportunity to develop skills in recreation and leadership, developmental disabilities, mental health, thanatology, and social interventions that support quality of life and person-centred care.  Participation in an interprofessional field placement and research with community organizations will further prepare graduates for employment in settings that support the aging person.

Baking and Pastry Arts Management is a one-of-a-kind program that will prepare students for a career in baking and pastry arts, by combining baking with the fundamentals of cooking skills in order to meet the needs of todays employers and customers.

This two-year diploma program also assists students in developing skills to operate a successful business through the study of key theories in small business planning, management, marketing and sales. Graduates from this program will be able to seek a variety of different employment opportunities as a member of a culinary team in: restaurants, hotels, cruise lines, catering companies, bakeries and pastry shops. The hospitality industry is experiencing rapid growth and employers will benefit from qualified workers who exhibit characteristics learned in our Baking and Pastry Arts Management program.

The Fitness and Health Promotion program prepares graduates to perform the roles and responsibilities of a fitness consultant and personal trainer. Fanshawe College’s Fitness and Health Promotion Faculty team consists of highly educated industry specialists, with both knowledge and experience in exercise program design, exercise prescription, fitness and health assessment, behaviour change, fitness marketing and sales, business ownership, sports and universal nutrition, as well as individual and population-based health promotion.

The Developmental Services Worker (Fast Track) Diploma program prepares its graduates to support people with developmental disabilities so that these individuals may participate fully in their communities. DSW have the specialized knowledge and skills required to work with people with developmental disabilities across the life span.

Inherent to the role of a DSW is an ability to collaborate and build relationships with people with developmental disabilities and their families and to work with colleagues and members of inter-professional teams to facilitate a seamless network of support for people.
Courses focus on disabilities, person-directed support, inclusion and community resources, dual diagnosis, interpersonal skills, counseling, health, pharmacology, development, teaching, and intervention strategies. Field placements in community agencies and/or schools are part of the curriculum.

Business (Co-op) is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program. This program is designed for students with an interest in all aspects of business. Students gain an understanding of all various business areas including accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, supply chain management, small business, and project management. Ethical and sustainable business practices are considered, and students are encouraged to explore individual areas of business that are of greater interest.    Students are given a wide exposure to business that meets the needs of those who desire a career in business management whether in a large organization or a family business.  Students can also earn education credits toward the Certified in Management (CIM) designation from the Canadian Institute of Management. Graduates who meet admission requirements are eligible for transfer to the Business Administration - Leadership and Management Advanced Diploma or the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Management) Degree program.

Co-operative Education
In order to be eligible for co-op, students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and be academically complete at the commencement of their co-op work term.

The Aviation Technology Aircraft Maintenance and Avionics (Co-op) Advanced Diploma is a Transport Canada approved program (TC-2018-02-4248) that provides students with the knowledge and skills required to start a career in aircraft maintenance and/or  avionics maintenance. This program will cover all aspects of aircraft maintenance including systems used in general aviation, corporate, and charter transport category aircraft as well as helicopters. The program will also include avionics training for service, repair, and maintenance of aircraft electrical and electronic systems such as communication, navigation, and data systems.

Learning Outcomes
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to

• Service, test, troubleshoot and repair aircraft and systems on large or small, fixed or rotary wing aircraft in accordance with manufacturers' specified instructions, accepted aviation techniques/practices and the requirements of the Canadian aviation regulations.
• Evaluate fixed wing and rotary aircraft structures and complete maintenance, assembly, fabrication, and structural repair work on large and small aircrafts in accordance with technical manuals, standard practices, and standards of performance and safety.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections on aircraft structural, operational, environmental, communication, navigation, surveillance, and flight guidance systems to ensure they are in proper working order and meet standards of performance and safety.
• Remove, install, and configure airframe and avionics parts, components, and line replaceable units as part of unscheduled maintenance and out-of-phase tasks.
• Remove, install, and configure the aircraft power plant and accessories on both turbine and piston engines.
• Remove, install, configure, test, and evaluate function and operation of instrument, communication, navigation, surveillance, and flight guidance systems.
• Diagnose malfunctions and defects in aircraft systems, avionics systems, and related components using technical manuals, drawings, wiring diagrams, engineering orders, and standards of performance and safety.
• Evaluate component wear and fatigue using appropriate measuring devices to determine necessary repair or replacement tasks in order to maintain the aircraft's airworthiness and safety.
• Complete airworthiness directives, manufacturers' service bulletin, and engineering modification tasks on aircraft systems, avionics systems, and structures.
• Dismantle and reassemble airframes, aircraft engines, and electrical and electronic systems for repair and overhaul.
• Interpret written instructions, schematics, manufacturers' specifications, technical drawings, manuals, and computer-based information while performing routine and unscheduled tasks.
• Maintain detailed inspection, repair, maintenance, and certification records and reports to meet industry regulations and logbook requirements.
• Perform all work in accordance with health and safety regulations, manufacturers' specifications, and Transport Canada guidelines.
• Evaluate, modify and implement quality control and quality assurance procedures to meet organizational standards and requirements.

Co-operative Education

Applicants seeking a non Co-op Endorsed Advanced Diploma should apply to the Aviation Technology - Aircraft Maintenance and Avionics program, Program Code AVI1.

The program provides the technical knowledge and skills required to manage the construction of industrial, commercial, and institutional buildings from the planning stage through to completion. Studies include construction materials and methods, construction equipment, surveying, project management, scheduling, estimating, building economics, and construction contracts. Twelve months of co-operative work experience is an integral part of the program.

Co-operative Education

• Facilitate the collaboration and interaction among project stakeholders to support construction engineering projects.
• Collect, process, analyze and coordinate technical data to produce written and graphical project-related documents.
• Coordinate and facilitate the collecting, processing, interpreting and application of survey/geomatics and layout information* to implement construction projects.
• Select and use industry-specific electronic and digital technologies to support the design and construction of projects.
• Analyze and solve technical problems related to the design and implementation of construction projects by applying engineering concepts, technical mathematics and building science.

The Computer Systems Technician program is a two-year accredited Ontario College Diploma program which provides comprehensive training for students wishing to work in the high demand areas of workstation, server, application, network and security support. This program provides students the ability to think critically, solve problems and acquire new skills quickly.

Under the guidance of expert faculty, combined with the use of leading edge labs, the program emphasizes the hands-on installation and configuration of workstations, servers and networking equipment.  Students will also be expertly trained in current operating systems from Microsoft as well as Linux.  The program also focuses in on the installation and configuration of web servers, database servers, IT security, effective communication, problem solving and teamwork skills.

Upon completion of the program, and in addition to the highly valued Ontario College Diploma, graduates should have the knowledge and skills to take exams for the following certification, if they choose to do so: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). Graduates may also choose to apply the knowledge gained to prepare and test for other industry certifications, such as those offered for Microsoft, Linux and VMWare.
