The College offers a variety of computing science programs of study with a significant component of academic courses that carry transfer status with the universities. Graduates of our programs can always build on what they know and may take advanced courses from Langara or a university once they have completed the necessary prerequisites. These programs have many common courses in the first and second terms which allow students to enter the Arts and Science Program in Computer Science without committing to one specific option. We specialize in both academic studies and hands-on skills development by teaching in both the classroom and the lab.

The Associate of Science Degree in Computer Science allows students to transfer easily to the third year of Computer Science programs at major BC universities. The Diploma in Computer Studies enables students to take a broad range of computer science, information systems, and other courses.

Peace and Conflict Studies (PCCN) is an interdisciplinary field of study which is concerned with the problem of human conflict, especially violent and destructive conflict, and the means by which it can be constructively and non-violently resolved. Its interdisciplinary approach to analysis draws on the perspectives of the physical and social sciences, history and philosophy. Guest lecturers from these academic disciplines, as well as guests from the active world of conflict resolution - labour mediators, politicians, peace leaders - will enhance the core courses. Each of the courses listed as requirements for a diploma program in Peace and Conflict Studies adds to an understanding of this most complex and pressing human issue.

Accounting and Financial Management professionals are the backbone of any organization and Langara grads are ready to meet that challenge. The BBA Accounting Concentration includes the requirements needed to maximize exemptions for the professional accounting associations (CGA, CMA, CA). In addition, business and general education courses are incorporated to ensure graduates receive a well-rounded business education, with an emphasis on business decision-making and analysis, strategic management, and teamwork. The Financial Management Diploma offers students who are not planning on pursuing an Accounting designation (CGA, CMA, CA) the flexibility to choose electives from other business areas and/or non-business courses.

First-Year Entry
By applying to the School of Management BBA programs and entering in year 1, you have the option of completing a BBA Degree, exiting after two years with a diploma, or earning both the BBA and a diploma. All our programs offer Co-operative Education options.

Third-Year Entry
Students with previous business education may enter the School of Management BBA programs in year 3. Some bridging courses may be required. Please contact the School of Management for details

The objective of this two-year diploma program is to prepare for careers in Accounting. The curriculum includes a mix of business and academic courses that provide students with both the practical skills required in accounting and proficiency in business decision-making and analysis.

A general business management education provides the versatility to work in a variety of management careers. Langara College’s Business Management graduates are the chameleons of the work world and are able to draw on their solid business education to tackle business opportunities and problems. As well, those with an entrepreneurial spirit will gain the expertise to operate their own enterprise. In addition to courses from a variety of business areas including marketing, financial management and international business, students who choose this concentration complete general education support courses.

International Business Management
As the world becomes increasingly inter-connected the need for professionals with strong backgrounds in international business grows. Our programs provide a solid grounding in the business activities related to international trade, exporting and importing. In addition, students are encouraged to choose electives that expose them to the economies, histories, cultures, languages and business practices of the world’s major nations. The result is a winning combination of skills that will prepare grads for employment opportunities both in Canada and abroad. Students can choose to focus on International Business either at the diploma level or by completing the International Business Specialization in the third and fourth year of the BBA Business Management Concentration.

Graduates of the International Business Program receive a well-rounded business education, preparing them for a wide variety of employment opportunities in the global market. Graduates are knowledgeable and competent in areas of international business as diverse as finance, marketing and distribution.

Students interested in International Business Management should apply to the BBA program through the School of Management and then select International Business Specialization as their concentration.

A specialization in this field can lead to further academic study in Peace and Conflict, a growing area in graduate programs in North American universities. Peace and Conflict Studies is also an appropriate preparation for the following career areas: politics and diplomacy; international relief and development; community and social services; public and private administration; counselling; law and corrections; and education.

Political Science is a multi-faceted discipline covering many areas of specialization. While students can choose from a wide variety of first and second year Political Science courses at Langara College, they will develop a common set of skills designed to enable them to gain an enriched appreciation of the complexity of political life, while developing an enhanced ability to think critically about the world in which we live. Political Science courses at Langara are also intended to provide a preparation for subsequent courses at the senior undergraduate level which build and reinforce levels of experience gained at this stage.

Health Sciences is an interdisciplinary field in which graduates can find careers in science, global health, or public policy, or can continue their studies in graduate school.

When successfully completed, the general and specific requirements of this diploma will prepare students for entry into the third-year of Simon Fraser University's BA in Health Sciences.

The Langara College Post-Degree Diploma in Nursing Practice In Canada is designed to effectively prepare Internationally Educated Nurses (IEN) for eligibility and application for nurse licensure and nursing practice positions. The program content includes critical thinking, clinical judgment and decision making, verbal and written communication, and cultural safety as applied within the health care setting.

The program includes active learning and a variety of evaluation methodologies with an emphasis on the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals principles, roles, and competencies. Students will have opportunities within the classroom, nursing laboratory and clinical practice setting to apply nursing knowledge, build their clinical competency and enhance their psychomotor skills.

Applicants who graduated more than 4 years ago prior to the start of the PDD NPIC program must meet all admission requirements as well as provide documentation of work experience in a Registered Nurse capacity at a minimum half-time level. A Supplemental Application Form will be sent to all applicants who fall into this category. Upon verification of work experience, an interview link will be sent to qualified applicants.

The General Education Diploma is appropriate for students who prefer a diverse selection of courses and do not necessarily plan to undertake university study. Students will gain knowledge in multiple areas of study. Holistically, the program aims to develop critical thinking abilities, strengthen research skills, and introduce a variety of theories. In many job opportunities, post-secondary experience is essential. The two-year Diploma provides students with a foundation of knowledge that will help in broad range of fields.
