The Arts, Literature and Communication program is a pre-university program for those who wish to experience media production while enriching their general knowledge in order to better understand and appreciate the different media.

During their DEC in Arts, Letters and Communication - Media, students take part in the vibrant cultural life of Montreal by visiting institutions as well as unusual places. In addition, they are called upon to participate in media events while taking advantage of the city's intercultural environment. These experiences allow them to exercise their critical thinking and broaden their horizons on the impact of the media in our society. The Media option is created especially for students who wish to develop communication skills and open several doors for university.

The development of all these skills aims to engage students in order to become active agents of change within today's and tomorrow's society.

In the Specialization in Business Intelligence program, students will learn about a company’s different departments and how they interact. They will learn about the design and modelling of an information system within the context of business intelligence.

This program will help students perfect their understanding of elements that interact with databases, such as the language SQL. They will also come to understand the challenges involved in data collection and learn how to practise data integration, analysis and visualization using business intelligence tools such as Microsoft’s BI suite.

This program will enable students to develop skills that will be applied to meet complex organizational needs and sustain an innovative culture.

The Accounting and Management Technology program (DEC) trains students in various aspects of management, including supplies, sales, accounting, finance, market development, international commercial transactions, and supervision of personnel.

Knowledge of these concepts provides students with the skills to participate fully in the accounting cycle and provide technical support in the computer-assisted management of a business. In addition, the content of this program provides a concrete perspective of business realities, due to careful study and comprehension of the parameters affecting management and accounting.

Training Objective
The Accounting and Management Technology program (DEC) is geared towards developing versatile technicians capable of intervening at any stage in the accounting cycle and providing technical support to businesses’ computerized management.

Faced with the growth of service and trade companies, a specialized workforce trained in commercial management is required on the labor market. The Business Management DEC, lasting three years, meets this need.

This program aims to train generalists (technicians) who will master all aspects of commercial management and sales force management within a retail establishment or in a company. It aims to develop three types of profiles: management of a retail business, commercial or industrial representation, and independent management of a commercial establishment.

Upon completion of this program, graduates will be able to put to use the skills acquired in different types of business establishments or within a company.

The virtual world is now unavoidable, and demand for community managers grows every day. Social media is truly important for clients, whether used to generate customer loyalty or improve the customer experience. This means that responsiveness is important in terms of implementing changes, and developing, operating and expanding businesses.

Community managers are responsible for the organization’s brand—they take charge of its reputation and inform the company of the competition’s practices and industry trends. They analyze the situation to gauge the efficacy and functioning of the strategies in place, with the aim of improving future actions.

The Social media strategy AEC teaches students how to develop, write and optimize promotional texts online, communicate with different web communities, and prevent and manage crises.

The Computer Science Technology DEC, with a Programming profile, was developed with support from the information technology business community and will propel you straight towards a promising career with excellent job prospects.

You will develop programming skills following strict product development methodology. You’ll learn to work with various IT project management approaches, like Scrum, to design and develop various types of applications and support/maintain the integrity of organization applications while taking into account technological advancements in the industry. Finally, you’ll be able to use an object-oriented approach to analyze and develop.

You will also be able to develop various types of applications ready for installation and operation. You will have the chance to work as part of a team (industry) that integrates current project management best practices (e.g. Agile, Scrum) and uses the industry’s leading tools and software (GitLab, GitHub, etc.).

Using leading-edge computer software, students learn different interior design techniques and know-how in order to conceptualize and produce aesthetic, functional and safe designs for interior spaces in residential, commercial, cultural, institutional and industrial buildings, according to standard practices and in accordance with all applicable codes.

After they graduate, they can work, among others, for architectural and interior design firms, or hotel and restaurant chains. Many of our students work for prestigious business companies such as Andres Escobar & Associates, Igloo Design as well as the Cirque du Soleil and the Grands Ballets Canadiens.

Costumes speak for themselves. They tell the story of a place, an epoch and most especially of a character. Whether it be a wandering knight, a nervous banker, you will be called to clothe them and bring them to life.

Conceptualizing a costume requires time travel in the past or into the future. Designing garments for an English family having a picnic on the banks of the Thames in 1776, or having to dress American political refugees exiled in Mexico in the year 2100 require extensive research.

In the cinema and television industry, costumes need to be produced in step with the scriptwriter. Knowing how to mimic the natural wear-and-tear of clothes during a short or long film and keeping the clothing style cohesive throughout will demonstrate your adaptability.

You may choose to specialize in costume design for cinema and television as of the fourth semester of your Fashion Design DEC program. Apply your talent and knowledge in the fields of cinema, television, circus and theatre.

With a core curriculum of studies, the Tourism Techniques program with a specialization in Development and Promotion of Travel Products (travel, hospitality, attractions, destinations, hotels, restaurants, etc) opens the doors to a wider array of careers in Québec, Canada or abroad.

This program focuses on the essential knowledge of tourism management. Teachers experienced in the industry provide their know-how and the key to success in entering the labor market. The program opens the doors to a variety of positions in development and promotion.

Students in this program may participate in the Job Fair organized by the International School of Hotel Management and Tourism, and eventually find a job in the industry.

The Technical Clothing Designer AEC program is intended for fashion or clothing design professionals who wish to broaden their knowledge in the area of outdoor clothing and obtain recognized certification.

LaSalle College’s exclusive collaboration with Techno-Espace, the technological clothing laboratory that works closely with industry, allows students to become acquainted with specialized equipment used in this constantly changing industry. Students benefit from the expertise of teachers who are currently active in this field. The goal of this AEC is to train professionals who will design and develop technical clothing products.

The technical clothing design course, students will become aware of the properties of textile materials, the human factors and environmental challenges of technical clothing design.
