Advanced Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology (Optional Co-op)

This eight-month graduate certificate program focuses on the long-term economic, environmental and social value of sustainable business strategy.

This program is designed to meet the growing needs of professionals who can propose, measure and evaluate sustainability initiatives. You will learn to develop and implement economically viable, lean business strategies for existing organizations or pursue entrepreneurship in sustainability. As a student of this program, you will have access to our HELIX innovation incubator.

Skills
You will learn to measure and reduce carbon footprints, recommend lean business strategies and integrate sustainability initiatives and strategies within several projects.

Optional Work Term
Students meeting all academic requirements may have the opportunity to complete an optional work term(s) in a formal work environment. The work term(s) is similar in length to an academic semester and typically involves full-time work hours that may be paid or unpaid. In programs with limited work term opportunities, additional academic requirements and a passing grade on a communication assessment may be required for eligibility. Eligibility for participation does not guarantee a work position will be secured. Additional fees are required for those participating in the optional work term stream regardless of success in securing a work position.

This two-year diploma program in accounting will introduce you to the accounting practices, related technology applications, business fundamentals and the soft skills needed to find employment. You will learn how to use computer applications like Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Access relational database management software.

As a student of this program, assuming specific course grade and GPA requirements are met, and upon completion of five bridging courses, you will be eligible to directly enter Seneca’s Honours Bachelor of Commerce – Accounting & Finance (BACF).

White-collar crime is increasing, particularly in the areas of identity theft, money laundering and securities fraud and therefore the need for compliance and risk management professionals is growing in the financial services industry.

In this eight-month graduate certificate program, you will gain the technical and professional skills that are necessary to become a compliance officer. This program covers Canadian regulatory requirements for the banking, insurance and securities industries. You will acquire critical skills such as policies and procedures management, privacy management, and Anti Money Laundering (AML) investigation.

Work Experience
The Financial Services Compliance Administration program does more than just equip graduates with the tools of the trade. It provides you with the opportunity to gain important experience. You are required to complete a compliance administration field placement or industry-related project as part of the program requirements. A Coordinator will work with you to match you with a placement or project opportunity. Upon completion of the program, you will have begun the important first step in the networking process that is critical to finding the position to launch a career in financial services compliance.

In this three-year advanced diploma program, you will build a career where urban and human needs meet to share the earth’s resources. You will focus on environmental technology, water resources and applied sciences. In your final two semesters, you will benefit from advanced computer modelling, water management and analytical courses. You will also develop problem-solving and communication skills needed to succeed in the environmental sector.

This eight-month graduate certificate program is designed to provide you with leadership skills to support the global hospitality service economy. You will be able to respond to the shift in global economic and business management practices from product to service. An emphasis is placed on recognizing new opportunities and developing new service categories and market segments while supporting the implementation of organizational change.

This program will develop your skills in leadership and innovative service models, digital management, predictive analytics and measurements, as well as live-data service with an intimate view of customer knowledge for the hospitality industry.

Fieldwork
Fieldwork is an integral element of your program that provides you with an opportunity to provide a real client a business recommendation for their business in the hospitality industry. You will benefit from 150 hours in a professional setting. This component is critical to your success and a requirement to graduate.

In this three-year advanced diploma program you will concentrate on the complexities that are involved in the movement and marketing of products and services internationally. You will build a foundation of general business knowledge and applications. Your learning will focus on the complexities of international trade that includes exporting, importing, international marketing, international finance, negotiation and entrepreneurship. You will also learn how to use industry leading Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools, including SAP and other software.

The program offers a rich and diverse intercultural educational experience. You will learn your craft from faculty with current industry experience in international business. This program is accredited by Forum for International Trade Training (FITT).

This eight-month certificate program is designed to provide you with a solid background in accounting and computerized bookkeeping. The program focuses on helping you develop critical skills, such as financial reporting, practical experience with accounting software packages and training in business communication.

Offered in cooperation with the Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping (CIB) this program allows you to earn courses required for CIB's professional bookkeeping designation and prepares you for a career in bookkeeping and entry-level accounting.

This two-year diploma program enables you to pursue a university education to complete a diploma and a university degree in as little as four years at the University of Toronto (St. George or Scarborough), York University or Trent University. Courses include a variety of humanities and social science disciplines and focus on developing university-level skills.

This program will prepare you to design, build, implement and maintain complex computer and software solutions that are efficient, reliable and secure. The degree’s emphasis is on artificial intelligence (AI) in solving software engineering problems. Courses focus on software engineering criteria in the areas of mathematics, natural sciences, engineering design and engineering science.  

Your studies will include two mandatory, co-operative, four-month work-integrated learning experiences — one between semesters 6 and 7 and another between semesters 7 and 8. In your final year of the program, you will choose from Professional Option courses such as robotics, parallel programming and computer vision. You will also undertake a substantial industry-driven group project.

Mandatory Degree Co-op
A work experience that includes at least one term in a formal work environment. Students must be in good standing and meet all identified requirements prior to participating in the work experience. The successful completion of the co-op work term(s) is required for graduation. Eligibility for participation does not guarantee that a work position will be secured. Additional fees are required for those participating in the mandatory co-op stream regardless of success in securing a work position.
