In this two-year diploma program, you will acquire the specialized knowledge and skills required to safely and competently dispense subnormal vision devices, contact lenses and eyeglasses. You will also learn the basic science of sight and optics and develop practical spectacle fabrication and dispensing skills.

Work Experience
A mandatory program requirement in a formal work environment. The work term(s) is similar in length to an academic semester and typically involves full-time work hours that may be paid or unpaid. The Honours Bachelor of Data Science and Analytics program is the first-of-its-kind in Ontario. This four-year degree program was designed to meet the growing need for data-driven business solutions. You will learn to identify and interpret data using algorithms and acquire skills to draw meaningful conclusions. Your knowledge will be enhanced through theory and applied learning with the help of case studies, guest speakers and a co-op work experience. This eight-month certificate program is designed to develop your skills and knowledge appropriate for an entry-level position in the tourism industry. In this program, you will learn to proactively promote tourism products and services, improve the quality of customer experience, and understand North American tourism destinations.

The Remotely Piloted Aircraft – Business Operations graduate certificate program will prepare you with operational and management skills for developing and sustaining businesses in a wide variety of industries. This includes agriculture, security, construction, mining, government, aerial photography, law enforcement, oil and gas, solar panels and cable power lines, etc.

This drones/drone flying program offers cross-disciplinary learning that includes leveraging business, entrepreneurial topics and flight operations including the study of law, privacy and ethics. Your experience includes flight training at AlteX Academy’s Drone Flight Field. When you graduate, you will be equipped with the ability to ethically and professionally utilize Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) to meet business goals, whether you choose to support an existing business or start a business of your own. You will also be able to ensure compliance with service guidance, company policies and procedures to support RPAS industry safety.

A capstone research project will allow you to investigate, plan and take ownership of an idea that would benefit the use of RPAS. In addition, the program will prepare you to write the exam for the Small Remotely Piloted Aircraft System Advanced Operations Transport Canada certificate, which is mandatory to operate any drones above 250 grams in Canada.

Work Experience

In programs with limited work term opportunities, additional academic requirements and a passing grade on a communication assessment may be required for eligibility. Eligibility for participation does not guarantee a work position will be secured. Additional fees are required for those participating in the optional work term stream regardless of success in securing a work position.

This two-year diploma program provides you with a solid technical understanding and practical knowledge of international transportation, customs brokerage and international freight forwarding. You will gain valued expertise and knowledge to help companies effectively manage the movement of goods and services internationally in our complex global economy. Your learning will be further advanced by current and industry expert faculty members.
As a graduate of this program, you will receive a certificate from MSR, the e-customs company, and there will be opportunities for you to pursue a certificate in international freight forwarding from the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA).

Optional Co-op

In this three-year advanced diploma program, you will increase your knowledge of design and engineering principles. You will learn to apply theories of design, production and marketing to gain an understanding of the steps necessary to commercialize a design idea. Your studies will introduce you to machining and production techniques, rapid prototyping, principles of mechanical design, engineering analysis, marketing, basic accounting practices, entrepreneurial skills, ergonomics, basic electricity and electronics, reverse engineering and product and design digitizing.

This program shares a common first and second semester curriculum with the Mechanical Techniques (Tool & Die/Mould Making) program. It shares a common third and fourth semester as the Mechanical Engineering Technician – Tool Design. This concept of laddering allows flexibility and options to increase levels of education incrementally.

This two-year program will prepare you to become a visual merchandiser who can expertly style a brand’s image with mannequins, merchandise, pop-up locations, window displays and store fronts. You’ll express your innovative ideas using design-based software programs, and get hands-on experience working with luxury retail partners such as Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Holt Renfrew and Harry Rosen.

Field Placement
Through the mandatory field placement, you will gain 80 hours of work experience with our retail partners. Not only will you put into practice the skills developed throughout the program, but you’ll also build a professional network and improve your understanding of the industry. Field placements are varied and may include working in a retail environment, assisting as a fashion stylist during Fashion Week, making props for Toronto’s iconic Santa Claus Parade or working closely with visual designers on exciting industry projects.
