Conceive, Design, Implement and Operate
Theory is important, but so is the opportunity to put it into practice. Because our electrical engineering degree is one of the few in Canada that embrace the CDIO Initiative (Conceive, Design, Implement and Operate), you’ll spend up to 50% of your class time working in labs. By using the systems you build, you'll learn what it takes to imagine and develop user-friendly solutions.

Specialize in Energy or Mechatronics
In the third and fourth years of your electrical engineering courses, you'll have the opportunity to specialize in one of two technical streams — energy or mechatronics. Our energy stream prepares you for work in the electrical utility sector. In the mechatronics stream, you'll gain the skills necessary to work in the fields of automation and instrumentation.

This program is the first of its kind in Canada. It addresses the need for a new way of looking at community safety, focusing on prevention, preparedness and social justice. Traditional law enforcement methods are expensive and don’t always address the diverse needs of Canadian society. That’s why the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police, non-profits, and graduate programs endorse this degree.

Think globally, act locally
You’ll also learn how global events, like war and climate change, affect people at the local level. How do these events shape our perception of safety? How does the use of social media influence our understanding of these events? Throughout this program, you’ll develop a strong understanding of the challenges communities face. And you’ll explore new ways to address those issues.

An integrated approach
This program offers a new model for community wellness. It combines the social sciences, leadership, policing and crisis management. Projects span classes and subjects, so you’ll develop a broad perspective.

Gain critical skills and experience

• Creativity and a passion for working with vulnerable and marginalized communities will serve you well in this program. You’ll build on your communication, research and critical thinking skills. And you’ll learn how to collaborate, facilitate and negotiate.
• You’ll also have the chance to apply your unique skills to a full-time co-op work term between Semesters 7 and 8. You'll work in areas related to your career interests, such as government, law enforcement or non-profit work.
• As a Community Safety student, you’ll be a trailblazer in a new field. Canadian society is in a period of transition, and this program will prepare you to help lead the way.

The need for skilled welders is growing in Canada. Sheridan's welding programs offer superior training and a pathway into this highly desirable trade. You'll get a thorough, practical education in the most current welding techniques and theories. Upon graduation, you'll be qualified to enter an apprenticeship as a welder, boilermaker, pipefitter, steamfitter, millwright or sheet-metal mechanic.

Canadian Welding Bureau certification:-
Our welding programs provide opportunities for Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certification. Welding and Fabrication Technician diploma students may challenge structural steel tests in four welding processes to obtain up to 13 licences. In our 1-year Welding Techniques certificate program, students may test in three welding processes in the flat position to obtain up to three licences.

Gain skills in an emerging technology
Use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices is projected to triple by 2030 as industry and individuals become more reliant on smart technology. Learn how to build and maintain equipment that makes our world better, safer and more efficient. You’ll study concepts that are pillars of the Industry 4.0 revolution, including artificial intelligence, sensors, robotics, cybersecurity and cloud computing

Understand all three aspects of IoT systems
Sheridan’s Internet of Things and Machine Intelligence certificate is the first program of its kind in Ontario to cover each of the three aspects of intelligent IoT systems:

• Machines and devices that collect and process data
• Networks and systems that allow devices to communicate
• Artificial intelligence algorithms that allow these systems to make intelligent actions

Hands-on training led by industry experts
Learn to work with industry-standard equipment and technology. Our dynamic mix of labs, case studies, project work and other interactive assessments is designed to prepare you for real-world environments. You'll be supported by professors who not only hold PhD and PEng credentials but also have extensive experience working in IoT and automation.

Upgrade your existing skills
This program is designed for graduates of technology programs and mature students who are already working in industry. Expand your career options by learning skills in IoT and artificial intelligence that will make you an asset in Industry 4.0 environments. Part-time, hybrid and remote learning options enable you to study when it’s most convenient for you.

You may be able to transfer previously earned credits towards this credential or receive credit for relevant work experience. Completion of this program will also provide you with advanced standing towards future pursuit of any computer engineering diploma program within Sheridan’s School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology.

Third-year electives include business innovation, content marketing, leadership development, search engine marketing, entrepreneurship, sales account management and more. Specialize in certain areas or broaden your marketing knowledge — the choice is yours. Electives are constantly updated to reflect industry demands.

Gain experience and build industry connections

Experiential learning is at the core of our Business Administration – Marketing advanced diploma. You’ll work with your peers on various activities, case studies and projects, including development of a marketing plan for a real-world industry client. You can also gain additional experience through an optional co-op placement, which may lead to employment opportunities after you graduate.

Practical, hands-on experience
Working both in the classroom and in the shop, you'll get practical, hands-on experience in electrical fundamentals. In just eight months you can master the basic skills you need to become an electrical apprentice. It's the first step towards a career as a professional tradesperson – and there's no better place to start than Sheridan.

Your electrical apprenticeship
To prepare for an electrical apprenticeship, you'll gain instruction in:

• Application of the Canadian Electrical Code
• Electrical Theory 
• Electrical Trade Safety
• Math fundamentals
• Commercial and residential building prints and standards

Further education
After earning your Electrical Techniques certificate, you can continue your education in related Electromechanical Technician and Technology programs at Sheridan. Advanced standing will be granted for equivalent courses.

Gain a broad understanding of the tool making trade while building valuable hands-on experience
In this four-semester program, you'll receive both classroom and lab/workshop instruction at our state-of-the-art tool making facility. After the third semester, you may have the opportunity for on-the-job training, where you'll develop in-depth tool making skills and can potentially secure up to 2,000 hours of experience towards your apprenticeship.

Graduate with a diploma and apprenticeship exemption
When you graduate from this program, you'll receive an Ontario College Mechanical Technician diploma. You may also get credit for levels 1 and 2 of your apprenticeship in-school training requirements as part of this program. This would give you a great advantage as you work towards your apprenticeship.

Sheridan's Internet Communications Technology program provides an in-depth curriculum on the technologies of the Internet. The longest-standing Internet engineering undergraduate program in Canada, this program will provide you with a great deal of hands-on experience. Our grads specialize in network communications and security, and work for a variety of Canadian and global institutions.

• You'll acquire a comprehensive understanding of Internet infrastructure, architecture and security, gaining hands-on experience in:
