Sheridan’s labs simulate the workplace, but they can’t completely replicate it. Put your new mechanical engineering skills to work for our industry partners in two 12-month paid co-op terms: one after your third semester and another in your third year of studies. You’ll also collaborate with peers to help our partners resolve a real-world issue in your capstone research project.

Critical training
This program offers the opportunity to build foundational skills needed in any business administration career, and delivers hands-on training in vital HR skills through case studies, guest speakers, simulated negotiation situations and group work. You'll learn about the latest trends in organizational behaviour, human resources planning and employment law.

In this program, you’ll learn from professors and guest speakers who have considerable experience in family therapy, policy development, social work, social justice and other social service fields. You’ll gain a solid skills foundation through a laboratory practicum, and you’ll develop plans for starting and running a service organization.

Hands-on experience
The Social Service Worker program maintains connections with hundreds of organizations – including community-based organizations, group homes, children's aid organizations and youth centres – that welcome our students for their Year 2 practicum placements. You'll complete more than 600 hours of field placement in a social service setting, reinforcing the practical skills you've learned in class.

In this program, you'll experiment with five subject areas — chemistry, engineering, architecture, information technology and trades — helping you decide what you want to focus on in your career.

Prepare for a technology or trades program
This program will also help you meet the admission requirements for technology diploma programs. You'll upgrade your skills and academic experience, which will help you to be successful in any technology or trades program you choose.

Learn the general principles and applications that modern accountants rely on. Expert professors will guide you through foundational concepts in a small classroom environment, supporting their lectures with hands-on learning opportunities. You’ll gain experience using spreadsheets and databases. You’ll also learn to use accounting and tax software programs such as Sage 50, MS Access and Profile.

In just two years, you can acquire the core skills necessary to work in the exciting field of human resources! First, you'll build a strong base of general business knowledge that helps you understand the many ways human resources contribute to organizational success. You'll then focus on fundamental HR specialities, including talent recruitment, health and safety, performance management and more.

Students in this program may apply to the co-op program during their first academic semester. Enrolment in the co-op program is limited through an additional co-op application process that takes place in the first semester. Students in the co-op program are eligible to complete a co-op work term during the 4-month term following the second semester. Our Business Administration – Accounting program provides a balance of theoretical studies, hands-on learning and specialized courses.

Businesses rely on accountants to monitor their performance, compliance and financial health. Your first year will involve common curriculum shared by all business administration students, providing you with an understanding of how companies work. Topics of study include communications, finance, human resources and marketing — all areas of business you’ll impact as an accountant.

Specialize your skills through electives
Study advanced accounting principles that aren’t covered in our two-year Business Accounting program! In your final year, you can master skills essential for employment in the field’s more demanding positions. Choose from a broad selection of electives, including courses in tax, auditing, budgeting, business analysis and financial statement preparation.

Optional accounting co-op placement
Enjoy the opportunity to earn while you learn! All advanced diploma students have the option of gaining more than 1,000 hours of work experience through a co-op work term. Co-op is a competitive program and you’ll need to meet certain academic requirements to participate. Connections you build during your work term may lead to employment opportunities after you graduate.

Sheridan’s accounting professors are actively involved in the industry, presenting at conferences and contributing to publications of accounting textbooks and articles. Many also hold the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) designation and maintain strong ties with the business community, which may assist you with obtaining a co-op work term.
