The program offers professional preparation for a quality assurance career, including in-depth coverage of material that appears on the examinations for the professional designations of Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) offered by American Society for Quality.

After completing two academic terms, students can apply for a paid co-op work term to gain professional experience while deepening their education. Enrolment is limited and requires a separate application process and requirements. To be eligible for acceptance in co-op, one has to have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and no D grade in the first term. To remain in co-op, similar academic performance must be maintained in the second term as well.

Companies in all areas of business and industry (including automotive, aviation, chemical, computer, electronics, energy, food, mechanical, moulding, plastics, and pharmaceutical) employ quality assurance personnel.

Co-op
Students in this program may apply to the co-op program during their first academic semester. Enrolment in the co-op program is limited through an additional co-op application process that takes place in the first semester. Students in the co-op program are eligible to complete a co-op work term during the 4-month term following the second semester. Co-operative Education is a form of work-integrated learning that links classroom learning with paid or unpaid work experiences within a professional environment. Co-op work terms are related specifically to the academic studies of each student. The work terms provide an opportunity to learn by doing. You’ll apply theory to practice, develop a meaningful view of the working world, and cultivate an awareness of yourself as a professional.

Students receive in-class and 1-on-1 career education support to help prepare for the work term. The co-op component is delivered by Sheridan’s Co-operative Education Office, which facilitates over 1,800 co-op and internship work terms per year Sheridan-wide.

Software and hardware skills taught in this program are valued by employers and can be applied in a wide variety of fields. First, you'll study basic concepts that are relevant to both electronics and computer engineering. You'll then learn more specialized skills and tools, including:

Hands-on experience
The Social Service Worker program maintains connections with hundreds of organizations – including community-based organizations, group homes, children's aid organizations and youth centres – that welcome our students for their Year 2 practicum placements. You'll complete more than 600 hours of field placement in a social service setting, reinforcing the practical skills you've learned in class.

Practical, hands-on experience
Working both in the classroom and in the shop, you'll get practical, hands-on experience in electrical fundamentals. In just eight months you can master the basic skills you need to become an electrical apprentice. It's the first step towards a career as a professional tradesperson – and there's no better place to start than Sheridan.

You'll complete four semesters of field practicum in two locations that may include youth justice, foster homes, shelters, residential treatment facilities and community outreach programs. You may be able to transfer previously earned credits towards this credential or receive credit for relevant work experience. Completion of this program will also provide you with advanced standing towards future pursuit of any computer engineering diploma program within Sheridan’s School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology.

This program was created specifically for students who have already completed university or college programs in a related field and want to fast-track their early childhood education career. The ECE – Intensive program is of particular interest to those returning to a second career educating children or for those who have international credentials not currently recognized as equivalent to ECE.
