Mechanical engineers solve problems. They focus on making the world a better place by creating efficient, safe, and environmentally sound components and systems.

In UNB’s Mechanical Engineering program, you’ll learn to analyze, design, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems. You’ll gain the skills you need to create and build mechanical devices such as spacecraft and artificial limbs, to design automation, medical tools, robotics, and ventilation systems, and to redesign existing mechanical systems and components to be more affordable and environmentally sound. 

Mechanical Engineering is available as a major in the Bachelor of Science in Engineering program.

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology provides a strong foundation in human movement and performance in relation to exercise, sport, work, and wellness. Our program offers a transformative student experience that balances theory with hands-on practice. Kinesiology offers the creative space to explore scientific experiences in our state-of-the-art labs while working alongside leading professors in the field.

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology offers an honours program, directed studies, minor in Ergonomics, and practicums in career-related work situations.

Hands-on learning
Kinesiology provides hands-on learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom:

• Practical lab experiences begin in the first year of study when students apply the knowledge gained in lectures to real life tests, such as: Biomechanical Motion Analysis, Motor Learning Assessments, Influence of Anxiety on Skill Performance, and VO2 Max testing. Hands-on learning not only occurs in scheduled laboratory courses, it’s also integrated into lecture-based courses through in-class activities and out-of-class assignments.
• Practicums: Some students choose to learn directly from a health care worker; others assist with coaching a team, or they volunteer with a community agency.

Political Science is the study of power in relationships.
From the micro-level of individual and group actions to the macro-level of government and international operations, political science seeks to understand behavior through rigorous analysis and by engaging with broad philosophical questions. Political science is a natural fit for those who find themselves frequently in political debates on social justice topics, or questioning the status quo.

The Faculties of Arts and Science at UNB in Fredericton work together to offer a combined arts and science four-year degree program. The BAS is a joint degree in Arts and Science. It provides you with an in-depth scientific education, as well as an understanding of people and the analytical and critical thinking skills acquired in an Arts degree.

Philosophy investigates many of the big questions of life: what is a human being? Are there such things as justice, beauty or God? What counts as knowledge?

In UNB’s Software Engineering program, you’ll learn how to develop and maintain reliable, safe, affordable, and efficient software systems that satisfy customer requirements. You’ll also gain the skills and knowledge needed to work on large and expensive software systems that often have safety-critical applications.  

Software Engineering is a joint program in the Faculty of Computer Science and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The program is available as a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree.
