Philosophy investigates many of the big questions of life: what is a human being? Are there such things as justice, beauty or God? What counts as knowledge?

Investigating these and other questions, such as the nature of time, the relation between body and mind, how we define good and bad, is a conversation that draws from great thinkers-­â€-­â€past and present. This is a discipline that challenges each of us to think about these kinds of problems critically, creatively and systematically.

Economists are excited by changing environments and unique challenges. Biology is the science of life, and as a department we want to foster a fascination with the biological sciences, develop scientific literacy, and build a solid foundation for careers in biology and related professions. 

Contemporary biology asks many questions due to the vast scope of disciplines related to biological sciences, ranging from the smallest molecules and cellular components, to individual organisms such as microbes, plants and animals, to the larger environment, ecosystems and the biosphere. 

The Biology program is available as a four-year Bachelor of Science degree with majors and honours programs, or as a minor within range of interdepartmental programs.

Learning the French language provides a wealth of opportunities for your future career and ignites a passion for culture, creativity, and expression. The Department of French welcomes students who wish to learn and perfect the language as well as pursue their studies in literature and linguistics.

We offer a range of courses in French Canadian literature, cinema, and culture, with an emphasis on Acadian and Québécois writers, as well as other Francophone literatures (i.e. France, Belgium, etc.).

Our linguistics courses explore the various expressions across French Canada. We also emphasize the phenomenon of human communication and how language shapes experience.

Adult Education is about lifelong learning. It’s about enabling people to continue on a path of learning, of skills development, and of personal enrichment. 

UNB’s Adult Education program combines credit courses with academic research, applied projects, and continuing professional development workshops. You’ll learn how to plan, administer, and deliver training to adults of all ages in all contexts, and you’ll explore principles of adult learning, the nature of adult learners, and the history and philosophy of adult education.

Marketing is about attracting customers. It’s about identifying a unique product, branding it, and then communicating it in a way that makes customers want it.

Through UNB’s Marketing program, you’ll learn how to identify, brand, and communicate products and services to customers. You’ll explore key areas of marketing, such as public relations, advertising, promotions, product development, pricing, and distribution. Marketing courses focus heavily on entrepreneurship and real-world marketing applications so that you’ll gain real-world experience and perspectives. In fact, many of your marketing courses allow you to apply your learning with real businesses and start-ups by planning their marketing activities and social media marketing plans.

At UNB’s Fredericton campus you can specialize in marketing by completing an honours or concentration. You’ll have the flexibility to combine Marketing with any other discipline in any other faculty. Gender and Women's Studies gives students an opportunity to explore gender issues in an interdisciplinary context, and it offers a useful complement to other fields. The required courses provide a framework for understanding the gender-based aspects of knowledge, power, and society.

Gender and Women's Studies represents a new approach to knowledge; it examines the gender-based aspects of human experience and women's roles in society. Gender and Women's Studies includes a wide variety of academic disciplines and professions.

Bachelor of Arts
The Gender and Women's Studies program is available as a major, double major or honours option as part of a four-year Bachelor of Arts degree. Courses in the Faculty of Arts cover a broad range of subject areas concerned with the study of human beings and the evolution and nature of global societies, ideas, and institutions. In your first two years of the program, you will select courses in fields like humanities, languages, social sciences as well as science and business to provide you with a broad foundation for advanced study in your chosen subject area during the final two years.

The Film Studies Minor offers students from all faculties the opportunity to study film (and video) from a variety of perspectives, including theory, history, and analysis, as well as a range of topics around national cinemas and genres, among others. In addition, students have the opportunity to study film from creative and practical perspectives in production and other practice-driven courses as well as creative writing for the screen. This four-year program combines the reasoning, research and writing skills offered in a traditional liberal arts education with the hands-on studio arts courses offered by one of Canada's most respected fine craft schools, the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design.

You will complete two years at both UNB Fredericton and NBCCD and have the choice of starting at either institution.
