The Master of Education in Adult Education and Human Resource Development degree program (MEd AHRD) is intended to prepare individuals for specialized educational roles in organizations involved in training & development, and/or adult training institutions.  Students will be able to select courses in both or either the Adult Education or the Human Resource Development streams, within one combined program.

The Master of Education degree in Educational Psychology emphasizes training and research in general guidance and counselling activities. Heavily involved in programs for guidance and counselling, it represents a broad spectrum of interests.

The four-year Bachelor of Arts program in music is a liberal arts degree. It includes studies in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, with a focus on the study, analysis, and history of music. The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Media Production is a 42 credit hour program designed for advanced studies in Media Arts Production. Students can work in dramatic, documentary, animation and experimental cinema and media, through a range of artistic, aesthetic, technical, and theoretical approaches. Courses offer a combination of general and specialized study in Film and Media Arts production. An intensive investigation of critical issues in Film and Media Arts theory will develop the student’s abilities in cultural and artistic discourse at an advanced level and will contribute to the shaping of sophisticated and versatile graduates from this program.

Gerontology is the study of the social, psychological, and biological aspects of aging. It includes the study of changes in adults as they age, the ways that society changes with an aging population, and how we apply this information to programs and policies for older adults. The U of R bachelor’s degree in gerontology takes an active health approach to anticipating the needs of an aging population. It is one of the few programs in Canada to combine exercise science and the study of aging.

This level of experience prior to degree completion is not common in other undergraduate kinesiology programs.

The Department of Music’s MMus and MA degrees can lead to career opportunities in performance, education, library science, music publishing, media, and arts administration, among others. It also provides exciting potential for further studies at the doctoral level. Our programs promote study in areas as traditional or contemporary as you are, with individualized instruction, and excellent performance and rehearsal facilities. There is also ample opportunity to explore interdisciplinary studies with the other Media, Art, and Performance areas.

Master of Music (MMus) in Conducting
This 30 credit hour program offers intensive individualized studies in conducting for wind ensemble, orchestra, or choir. Students undertake a wide range of conducting projects and score study. The program culminates with a concert in which the student conducts a major work for large ensemble. All students also take graduate courses in critical theory in the fine arts, and in research techniques specific to music. This degree is an excellent choice for anyone interested in enhancing their conducting skills, including high school teachers who wish to gain extra qualifications.

The combined degree in Statistics and Economics is designed for students with an interest in both fields. This program provides a broad understanding of the fundamental concepts involved in both subjects.

Process Systems Engineering (PSEng) is a broad category of engineering that deals with the process design for the purpose of converting raw goods to usable end products, including energy. Process engineering looks at the entire process from Point A, which is a raw material, to Point Z, which is the desired end product. It does not necessarily deal with acquiring the raw base material, although knowledge of its acquisition is part of the U of R’s systems approach to teaching and research.
