The Certificate in Business (CBUS) is an eight-course program that will provide you with the knowledge and skills to be successful in professional business environments. This certificate is offered by the University of Saskatchewan's Edwards School of Business. You may earn the certificate on its own, while pursuing a degree, or after graduating university.
If you are interested in pursuing a degree in business, the Edwards School of Business offers a Bachelor in Commerce with majors in: Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management.

Geological engineers connect the worlds of nature and engineering. They apply engineering principles to the natural materials and fluids found in the earth, including rocks, soils, groundwater, petroleum and natural gas.

What you will learn

• We’ve redesigned first-year engineering at USask to help you succeed and make engineering more fun. We call the new first year RE-ENGINEERED. It’s the only program of its kind in Canada. It will get you excited and inspired about engineering.
• In RE-ENGINEERED, instead of high-stakes exams, you will do more assignments and quizzes so you can improve your mark if you stumble early. Daily tutorials are part of the schedule so you can get help when you need it. And instead of final exams, you will explore the different branches of engineering in hands-on courses.
• You will choose your engineering specialty – known as your major, or discipline – at the end of your first year. This is the area you will study in-depth in your upper-years classes.

You will learn how language functions in the lives of individuals, groups, and societies. You will study the basic nature of human language such as speech sounds, characteristics of word and sentence structure, geographical and historical variation of languages and dialects. You will learn about the cognitive aspects of language in child language development, language processing, language learning, writing, and reading.

Mathematical physics connects mathematics to physical phenomena. Its tools allow us to describe how a top spins, how a pendulum swings or how a rattleback rocks and defies normal intuition. Studying mathematical physics reveals the hidden intricacies of relativity and quantum theory.

What you will learn
You will study conceptual, mathematical frameworks that describe or explain physical phenomena. You will learn how one builds theories of physical phenomena, accounting for physical features which are then expressed in precise mathematical terms. The deductions of the theory capture essential aspects of physical reality.

With an industry worth more than $95 billion annually in Canada alone, agribusiness is big business. It is a business of local and global importance, encompassing a huge range of activities that contribute to our supply of food and natural fibres.

Agribusiness comes into play at every stage in the food chain, from primary production to the packaging of your favourite snack food. It is also a dynamic business that must respond to advances in technology, changes in trade and policy and to an ever-changing, consumer-driven marketplace.

What you will learn
You will learn about business management, economics, marketing, finance and sales, as well as the legal and institutional environment that characterize agribusiness. You will study the structure and organization of the agri-food sector and develop business skills relevant to farm input, on-farm businesses, processing, transportation, credit and marketing.

Sociology is the study of human social life, focusing on developing an understanding of changes in social structure and human interaction on an individual, societal and global level.

What you will learn
You will examine human behavior and why people interact the way they do. You will focus on current social issues and the evolutionary changes of societies as you explore criminology and legal studies, race and ethnic relations, medical sociology, labour and education, agriculture and development, women's and gender studies, mass media and communications, and religion.You will also have the opportunity to develop skills related to research methods, critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication.

Discover some of the roots of the modern world by examining the development of culture and thought from Graeco-Roman antiquity through the Middle Ages and into the Renaissance. Explore, understand and appreciate ancient languages and the literature, art, ideas, and historical movements that informed Western civilizations.

What you will learn
You will examine the development of European cultures and societies between 700 B.C. and A.D. 1600. An understanding of these societies requires the integration of three dimensions: the historical (including archaeology and the history of society and politics); the intellectual (including philosophy, science, and religion); and the cultural (including languages, arts, drama, literature, and architecture). You will apply this understanding to a particular discipline and period of cultural tradition.

Through innovative programming, integrated on-campus and field study opportunities, and the support of experienced and caring faculty, you will be prepared to succeed from the first day of classes through to graduation.

What you will learn
The Bachelor of Education program is designed for future educators wanting to teach students in a variety of educational institutions, including K to 12 schools. You will specialize in two teaching areas to concentrate your expertise in specific subjects.

Program options
The Bachelor of Education degree is offered by the College of Education. You have two options when completing this program:

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) - Early/Middle Years Program
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) - Secondary Program

Early/Middle Years
If you want to teach students in Kindergarten through Grade 8, choose the Early/Middle Years level. The curriculum offers a general approach to various subjects to provide wide exposure to the subjects and teaching methods you will use in early years and middle years classrooms.

As part of your Education degree, you will choose two teaching areas in which to specialize. These subject areas are closely aligned with the Saskatchewan pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum areas:

Mathematics is the study of structures, patterns, and the use of formal reasoning to enrich our understanding of the world. It can be is used to predict patterns of societal behaviour, design immense structures, analyze disease transmission and build models of national economies. Mathematicians contribute to the formulation and solution of problems in diverse fields such as medicine, economics, computer science and engineering.

What you will learn
Studying mathematics will teach you how to think critically and use logic to solve a surprisingly wide variety of problems in fields such as the physical sciences, economics, biology and many others. You will learn to reason about numbers, shapes, and relations. Using these ideas you will model features of the world with the aid of tools such as differential equations, networks, algebraic structures and much more.

Archaeology is the study of artifacts and other physical remains of earlier societies and communities in order to unravel the mysteries of human cultural diversity and adaptation. Archaeologists can reconstruct past human behaviours and life ways from tools, shelters, ornaments, food remnants, modified landscapes, and even human remains.

What you will learn
The program focuses on the past peoples of western Canada and the broader Circumpolar North. You will have the opportunity to participate in the excavation of archaeological sites and will learn how to employ a wide variety of laboratory techniques. These include the analyses of artifacts and other archaeological materials such as human and non-human skeletal remains. You will learn how people interacted with past environments and how sociocultural explanations relevant to past human experiences are developed and tested. In sum, you will learn about how and why human behaviour has changed in the past in order to better understand human behavioural changes today and into the future.
