What you will learn   
This program will equip you with global literacy and key insights into our interconnected world. You will take classes that explore government, business, culture, the environment, politics and international aspects of law, science, conflict and development. You will learn about inequality globally, challenges to cooperation among states, and the reasons for and complexity of crises and conflicts. You will understand and engage with some of the world’s most pressing issues.

Psychology is the study of behaviour and mental processes, and their relation to one’s physical state, mental state, and external environment. With the complexity of our modern world, psychologists play an increasingly important role in helping people.

What you will learn
You will discover how your brain works, study the latest methods of diagnosing and treating mental illness and learn about human development. You will study a variety of subjects including social psychology, personality, child development, human neuropsychology, memory, the psychology of language and abnormal psychology

Chemistry focuses on what happens to matter at the molecular and subatomic levels. In other words, it is the study of how virtually everything in the world really works. Chemists are at the forefront of scientific discovery in a wide variety of fields such as medicine, drug discovery, nanotechnology, new material design and the environment.

What you will learn
You will learn how molecules interact, how and why chemical reactions occur and how to control these processes. You will learn how to find answers to important questions such as: how do we harvest light to make energy, how do we build molecules that cure disease and how do plants protect themselves from pathogen attack? Through appropriate course selection, you can specialize in analytical, bioorganic, computational, inorganic, organic, organometallic, physical or theoretical chemistry.

Through innovative programming, integrated on-campus and field study opportunities, and the support of experienced and caring faculty, you will be prepared to succeed from the first day of classes through to graduation.

What you will learn
The Bachelor of Education program is designed for future educators wanting to teach students in a variety of educational institutions, including K to 12 schools. You will specialize in two teaching areas to concentrate your expertise in specific subjects.

Program options
The Bachelor of Education degree is offered by the College of Education. You have two options when completing this program:

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) - Early/Middle Years Program
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) - Secondary Program

Early/Middle Years
If you want to teach students in Kindergarten through Grade 8, choose the Early/Middle Years level. The curriculum offers a general approach to various subjects to provide wide exposure to the subjects and teaching methods you will use in early years and middle years classrooms.

As part of your Education degree, you will choose two teaching areas in which to specialize. These subject areas are closely aligned with the Saskatchewan pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum areas:

Sustainable use of our land, water and plant resources is increasingly recognized as a key societal goal. Resource Science provides essential skills and knowledge in applied sciences and resource management which can be used to influence sustainable development such as rejuvenating disturbed land or reducing greenhouse gas emissions from landscapes.

What you will learn
The Resource Science specialization provides you with hands-on, practical experience in field measurement and assessment. You will learn about:

• Environmental site assessment and soil landscape relationships
• In-field understanding of the spatial relationships of ecosites and soil units
• Remediation and reclamation practices
• Analysis and aggregation of field data
• Application of ecological land classification

Political Studies examines the use and abuse of power in societal struggles for justice, equality, freedom, and the common good. It deals with issues, at the local, national and international levels, relating to government and governance, authority and legitimacy, equity and resource distribution, rights and responsibilities, and peace and conflict.

What you will learn
You will learn about the forces and factors that influence the process of political decision-making, including ideologies, political parties, political leadership, civil society, elections, and the media. You will also gain an understanding about threats to global stability including poverty, environmental degradation, human rights violations, and migration and refugees, amongst other topics of contemporary national and international significance.

Electircal engineers design and manage power systems, communications networks and electronic products. They work on the electrical and electronic equipment and systems that are transforming our way of life.

What you will learn

• We’ve redesigned first-year engineering at USask to help you succeed and make engineering more fun. We call the new first year RE-ENGINEERED. It’s the only program of its kind in Canada. It will get you excited and inspired about engineering.
• In RE-ENGINEERED, instead of high-stakes exams, you will do more assignments and quizzes so you can improve your mark if you stumble early. Daily tutorials are part of the schedule so you can get help when you need it. And instead of final exams, you will explore the different branches of engineering in hands-on courses.
• You will choose your engineering specialty – known as your major, or discipline – at the end of your first year. This is the area you will study in-depth in your upper-years classes.

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology/Bachelor of Education Combined Program has been re-envisioned and newly integrated for 2020-2021. This five-year program is designed for students who intend to teach physical education at the secondary level. Students in the combined program will receive the benefits of being in the Colleges of Education and Kinesiology for all five years of the program.

The advantage of this combined degree program is that you will graduate in five years with two degrees with a concentrated knowledge of teaching physical education to high school students.

Students who are currently in the College of Kinesiology (admitted in 2019-2020 or before) will still complete three years of the program in the College of Kinesiology before enrolling in the College of Education to complete the last two years of the program.

What you will learn

• The Combined Kinesiology/Education program is designed so you will graduate in five years with two degrees.
• To ensure you will be a well-rounded teacher, you will specialize in a second teaching area in addition to physical education.
• From 2020-2021 on, students can apply for the direct-entry B.Sc. Kin./B.Ed. combined program to take both Education and Kinesiology classes in all five years of the program. Admission into this program is competitive. There are 30 seats available. One Indigenous equity seat is available for students of Canadian Indigenous descent.
• Only those students who were admitted to the College of Kinesiology in 2019-2020 or before will spend three years of study in the College of Kinesiology then apply to enter the College of Education to complete the last two years of the program. Admission into this program is competitive.

The Bachelor of Arts and Science (B.A. & Sc.) degrees are distinct degrees combining the science disciplines with studies in the humanities, social sciences, and/or fine arts.  These unique and highly completive interdisciplinary programs are focused in areas of high demand and allow students to make connections needed to succeed in these areas. These programs are truly inter- and multi-disciplinary.

Health Studies

• This program examines the issue of health and wellness, including mental health, from a variety of perspectives including how biological, cultural, social, and environmental contexts influence the health and well-being of the individual.

What you will learn

• You will learn about issues of health ranging from biological, psychological, cultural and environmental and how factors such as genetics, personality, attitudes and abilities influence healthy social and emotional development throughout the life span. You will study the role of cultural and community processes in health and healing and examine how groups interact with their environment in healthy and unhealthy ways.

Discover unique traces of life from millions of years ago and follow the evolution of species from the depths of geologic time.

What you will learn
Your studies will focus on the fossil record of ancient organisms and their living descendants. You will learn to analyse the distribution and function of fossil animals and plants, reconstructing their evolutionary paths. Such evolutionary relationships are then tied to environmental data to reconstruct  the fossil species way of life. You will learn about human, plant and animal diversity, morphology and history.
