Smart materials are materials that can respond to external stimuli such as stress, moisture, electric/magnetic field, temperature and pH. They are at the core of sensors used in smart electronics and comprise a huge variety of materials including piezoelectric, shape-memory, photovoltaic, thermoelectric, ferrofluids and self-healing materials. A student opting for this specialisation will be exposed to the properties, synthesis and application of these materials, and will be able to explore one of these material systems in-depth through the dedicated project work.

Considering this rising requirement of the market, the program was launched in the year 2011. It intends to provide support to industry 4.0 with a balanced content on Procurement, Materials Management, Global Supply-Chain Management, Multi-Modal Transportation, Retail, Logistics Information System, and Spreadsheet Modelling.
