You will:

Organise at least four live events over the three-year course

Studying in Cornwall, home to several of the UK’s most exciting festivals, you’ll get hands-on industry experience, both here and further afield. Alongside tuition from experienced professionals, you’ll benefit from the expertise within our School of Entrepreneurship – including finance, marketing and project management. 

You will:

• Develop a sustainable approach to management in the globally expanding festival industry.

As an independent performer, songwriter and self-producer, you’ll learn how to promote and release your own work, creating innovative portfolios based on experimentation, musicianship and a confident understanding of the industry. You'll study the audio-visual elements of pop and develop ways of critically conceiving and creating 'real' and 'virtual' presences. As someone invested in how pop makes meaning, you'll define a practice that's stylistically sophisticated and future facing.

You will:

• Develop songwriting techniques and performance and production skills.
• Establish innovative approaches to music making, the music business and technology.
• Perform and record in our high-spec AMATA studios.
• Forge industry links with studios, record labels, promotion companies and venues.
• Benefit from visiting lecturers like Bellatrix, Darcus Beese (Island Records), David Toop, Ed O'Brien (Radiohead), Mary Hampton, Jo Hamilton, Martha Tilston, Laura Snapes, Glen Roberts and Jerry Dammers (The Specials)

You'll learn how different specialisms work together, how to work effectively in a team and to develop the role you play in it. These courses simulate how industry operates, in a studio environment that's built to mirror a real games development studio.

You will:

• Build your own games from day one and have the opportunity to establish your own company in your third year
• Work in one of the largest and best equipped dedicated game-making spaces of any university in the UK
• Work in a department dedicated to gaming and be surrounded by people working in all aspects of
  the industry
• Develop a multi-disciplinary approach, using Unity and Unreal to touch upon all aspects of game creation
• Have the flexibility to change your area of specialism based on your skills and interests

Through this highly practical two-year course, you’ll be equipped with the technical know-how to succeed in many diverse areas of the industry. Led by practicing experts, you’ll be empowered to take a creative, collaborative and proactive approach to your work. 

You will:

• Work in AMATA’s purpose-built professional studios and performance spaces. 
• Benefit from a year-round performance programme, which features respected artists from all over the world. 
• Learn from practicing technical and academic staff and work with skilled technicians. 
• Gain nationally recognised qualifications in equipment use, processes and health and safety. 
• Have the opportunity to interact with professional theatre and production companies, such as Kneehigh and WildWorks, as well as music festivals and producers, theatre venues and tourism events throughout Devon, Cornwall and beyond.

If you're stylistically eclectic and keen to experiment, this is the course for you. Whether you aspire to be a performer, composer, session musician, music educator, sound artist or to work in a mixture of these disciplines, we'll offer an insight into the modern music industries.

You will:

• Learn to play in a range of musical styles and genres, in a variety of professional contexts.
• Play regularly in ensembles, including session bands, vocal groups, contemporary music groups and laptop orchestras
• Benefit from guest speaker artists and ensembles. Recent visitors include Adrian Utley (Portishead), Graham Fitkin (composer), Kenny Werner (pianist), Ed O'Brien (Radiohead) and Kevos (ensemble).
• Have the chance to gain industry experience through a three-month placement or internship, from shadowing a professional composer or interning with a record label, to working with a professional orchestra.
•     Have the opportunity to take advantage of our prestigious international exchange partners, including CalArts (USA), Griffith University (Australia), LASALLE (Singapore) and Nagoya University (Japan).

You will:

• Raise your awareness through learning that’s driven by the environmental, ethical and moral challenges of our time.
• Take your place at the forefront of the industry, with access to resources from industrial, specialist sewing and knit machines, screen printing and a natural dye garden, to ultrasonic welding machines.
• Learn to use the latest digital design technologies, including CLO 3D.
• Thrive by working together on collaborative, challenge-based projects.
• Work on live briefs with leading brands like Fred Perry, Lou Dalton, O'Neill and New York-based Ryan Roche.

This dynamic MA will help you build the craft and critical skills to place your work in line with current industry trends. You'll engage in practical projects mirroring professional workflows and creative environments. To develop an up-to-date, original practice, you'll also study the cultural contexts of global film and television markets.
