Get outdoors with a degree that takes you beyond the classroom and trains you to help conserve the world's wildlife. A Wildlife Conservation and Management emphasis in the Natural Resources Bachelor of Science program focuses on the ecology of wild animals, including the study of their biology, their relationships with each other and humans, and the physical and biological environment that are their habitat. Students are equipped for careers as wildlife and fishery biologists who develop strategies to maintain biodiversity and habitat, help rare and endangered species to recover, manage populations of harvested animals, monitor populations of plants and animals, manage refuges and hatcheries, design and implement research projects, eliminate invasive species, develop computer models and educate the public. Graduates are employed as wildlife biologists by federal and state resource-management agencies and by other conservation organizations.

  • Master basic statistical analyses; Conduct, interpret, and present basic statistical analyses of field and laboratory data, develop a research sampling design, and demonstrate the ability to design and conduct monitoring projects in the field.
  • Effectively communicate; Write professional reports in the style appropriate for the field of specialization, and demonstrate clear communication of scientific concepts and analytical arguments based on synthesis of published information and use of critical thinking.

Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

A degree in Information Science and Technology helps students build the mathematical and computational foundation they need to analyze  and grow in the digital world. This Bachelor of Science leans more heavily on the technical side of information science, including requirements for higher math and specialized courses, than the Bachelor of Arts in Information Science in our program. Students take courses in advanced computing techniques, machine learning, data science, artificial intelligence and theories of new media. Water is perhaps our greatest natural resource in all living plants and animals require it. Become an expert in the preservation of this life-giving resource. The Watershed Management and Ecohydrology emphasis in the Natural Resources Bachelor of Science program prepares students for careers in sustainable landscape management. Ecohydrology is especially important in arid and semiarid systems, such as those in Arizona, where the feedback between ecology and hydrology can be particularly tight. With the benefit of small class sizes, students receive specialized coursework in ecology, ecosystem science, social science, communication, policy analysis, and the management of surface water resources. Graduates are qualified to be hydrologists or to pursue careers in organizations and businesses concerned with integrated land management, the environment or water resources.

Geographers study Earth's features, but with a strong appreciation for the human-environment relations that shape and are shaped by the distributions of these features across the landscape. Physical geography takes a scientific approach to understanding Earth's physical environment. The Bachelor of Science in Geography with a Physical Geography emphasis provides rigorous training in Earth and environmental science, emphasizing quantitative and scientific approaches to studying the physical environment. Become proficient in tectonics, geophysics and geodynamics to gain greater understanding of our planet - from its inner core to the depths of the oceans to the outer reaches of space. The Bachelor of Science in Geosciences with a Geophysics emphasis takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the planet. The program covers topics such as tectonics, geophysics and geodynamics, as well as Earth system modeling, remote sensing and seismology. Students learn quantitative scientific research skills and gain experience working with data and technology in the field and in the laboratory.
