The M.S. in Textile Design at Thomas Jefferson University offers an integrated, collaborative and proven curriculum that blends aesthetic, creative skills with emerging technologies. In studios and classrooms, students turn innovative ideas into original products.

State-of-the-art facilities, including The Center for Excellence of Digital Printing, electronic jacquard and dobby looms, computerized knitting machines, and extensive computer-aided design laboratories enable students to put professional skills into practice. The Design studio courses make up the majority of the coursework in the MS program and design research is stressed from the beginning.

Graduate students select either knit, print or weave as their area of concentration and the courses are taught by active members of the textile design field: artists, design directors, authors and researchers. Visiting artists and guest lecturers expand the educational experience, bringing real-world applications to the classroom experience.
Partnerships with industry, nexus learning sponsored projects, national and international design competitions and exhibitions at international trade shows provide practical experience as students prepare for graduation.

The Jefferson Textile Design program is enhanced by study abroad opportunities and a strong internship program. The Animation & Digital Media program at Thomas Jefferson University connects students to the animation and digital media industries with the objective of becoming successful filmmakers as well as designers capable of applying skillsets to a wide range of industries which are increasingly in demand. The program offers a thorough understanding of animation fundamentals along with practical experience utilizing cutting-edge tools and techniques. As a graduates of the program, you will be equipped for leading creative roles in film, television, visual effects, marketing and video games.

What is Animation?
Animation is the process of combining design, storytelling and production to add life to many types of media. This can include animation for film, television, visual effects, websites, multimedia presentations, mobile applications and video games.

You will learn the entire process of creating beautiful and engaging animations, from concept development and design to working with 2D and 3D animation production software to bring their creations to life. This program equips you with the knowledge for many careers, such as:

One of our strengths is our close-knit community, and that is by design. Faculty work closely with all VDC students as they progress through a series of 8 core design studios. This begins with design foundations, and progresses through courses in typography, user experience, branding, digital strategy, systems design, and culminates with a self-authored, senior design capstone project and portfolio.

The program provides training in a diverse combination of skills, including a strong understanding of design principles, typography and image making, the capacity to plan and design for human-centered products, interactions and experiences, an ability to harness the latest digital technologies and experience working in collaborative interdisciplinary environments.

Jefferson’s M.S. in Geospatial Technology for Geodesign leverages GIS and advanced geospatial technologies in identifying and finding innovative solutions to urban design and urban planning problems. Emphasizing GIS-based tools, 3D parametric design and modeling, sustainable design approaches, collaboration and innovation within an integrated process, this STEM-designated graduate program is intended to empower students to find resilient solutions to 21st century urban challenges resulting from population growth, decreasing resources, natural disasters, and climate change. Geodesign is sustainability in practice, and our graduates are leaders in this innovative field.

Geospatial technology for geodesign students are directly involved in collaborative applied research projects with industry partners, state and federal agencies, and community partnerships. They work with advanced technologies including parametric 3D modeling, spatial data collection using emerging technologies such as LiDAR, UAVs (drones), UAV-based photogrammetry, advanced geospatial mobile applications, and BIM while they help develop and test new tools that inform future industry software. Graduates possess highly sought-after GIS skills and are well prepared for dynamic careers in interdisciplinary firms, state and federal agencies, NGOs, academia and more.

The MS in Geospatial Technology for Geodesign is a 36-credit post professional degree open to those interested in GIS and the allied design disciplines: architecture, landscape architecture, planning and engineering, as well as students with backgrounds or interest in GIS. Classes are offered on a full-time or part-time basis and are held in the evenings and Saturdays in order to meet the needs of our professional students.

Graduates of the MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences will demonstrate expertise in the design and application of research methodologies to meet the needs of the evolving biomedical and pharmaceutical industries and academic laboratories. The curriculum provides instruction in all phases of the drug and biologic development process including preclinical drug discovery and development (computational design and synthesis of new molecular entities and molecular characterization), screening and formulation, analytical support for clinical trials, health care pharmacogenomics profiling, metabolite analysis, pharmacokinetic characterization and pharmacodynamics.

The program is part of the Jefferson College of Pharmacy (JCP) and offered in collaboration with Jefferson College of Life Sciences. The program may be completed on either a full-time or part-time course of study and students enrolling in this 34 credit MS program may select either a thesis or non-thesis track.

Continuing the university’s legacy of leading textile technology education, the MS in Engineering, Textile Engineering concentration develops advanced knowledge in the fields of textile science and engineering, preparing students for leading roles in the textile industry.

The program teaches cutting-edge technical textile processes to students with science or engineering backgrounds. Courses focus on fibrous material product development and characterization, and teach techniques such as fabric formation, product development, and product testing. The program familiarizes students with hands-on experience with weaving, knitting, nonwoven and composites equipment in the innovative Fashion and Textiles Futures Center on the East Falls campus.

A capstone thesis experience is required at the completion of program.

You will be transformed into a fashion design professional through hands-on experience with computerized design and production equipment while also building a strong foundation in design and technical courses.

During your time at Thomas Jefferson University, you will also have the opportunity to add an international dimension to your education by participating in our study abroad programs at international fashion centers like London and Rome, or through short courses in other fashion hubs around the world. The TJU fashion design program prepares you to influence the fashion design world. Our alumni work as fashion professionals in all areas and levels of the fashion industry, following in the footsteps of our distinguished faculty who have served as leaders in both the design and production sides of the fashion industry. With such a strong network of fashion expertise, you will have plenty of opportunities to land coveted internships and start careers in companies including PVH, Lilly Pulitzer, Anthropologie, Free People, Coach, Nannette Lepore, BCBG Maxazria, Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Urban Outfitters, and Vogue Magazine.

The B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering program at Jefferson is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The program will prepare you with a breadth of engineering skills and knowledge while facilitating technical depth in vital mechanical engineering areas, including:

You will begin developing science, math, and engineering analysis skills in foundational courses, and progress to using modern computer aided design, and mathematical modeling tools and manufacturing equipment like metal machining and 3-D printing.

Engineering design is taught from the first semester and further strengthened in upper-level courses culminating in a two-semester senior design project. For example, mechanical engineering seniors designed, built, and tested a vortex tube cooler, which produced chilled air from a room temperature compressed air reservoir with no moving parts.

The Interior Design Program at Jefferson is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and a top ranked undergraduate program in the U.S. Known for our excellence in interior design education we prepare graduates for successful careers in the evolving global marketplace. Our mission is to prepare students to be independent thinkers, innovative problem solvers, collaborators and leaders with high standards of professionalism, integrity and excellence in design. With an emphasis on creativity, balanced with the knowledge and skills required for meaningful contributions to the interior design profession, we instill in students an understanding of the global, cultural, social, aesthetic, technoligical, environmental and ethical responsibilities inherent to the design of interior environments.

The Bachelor of Science in Interior Design program is grounded in the belief that the interior designer mediates between the human experience and the built environment and should enter the global marketplace as articulate, creative, inspired and socially aware design professionals. The program integrates collaborative, interdisciplinary and study abroad opporunities broadening students' knowledge and abilities. Our Philadelphia location provides a multitued of options for internships, memberships in professional organizations, and partnerships with community organizations and industry professionals, all of which give our students a unique advantage with real-world hands-on experience.

Radiologic (x-ray) technologists use x-ray (ionizing radiation) technology to perform diagnostic imaging, producing images of tissue, organs and bones. Radiologic technologists understand the characteristics of radiation, its biological effects and the methods of reducing patient and operator exposure while obtaining optimal diagnostic information.

Radiologic technologists work directly with healthy and critically ill inpatients and outpatients of all ages, dispensing oral and rectal contrast for studies of the GI tract. The job requires standing and moving from exam room to operator’s console, wearing lead aprons during fluoroscopic procedures, lifting and moving patients onto and off of the exam table for accurate positioning and lifting and/or moving patients from the exam table to and from the waiting area.
