The M.S. in Engineering program is intended to develop graduate students’ knowledge in the advanced fields.

The program offers a wide range of engineering science courses that prepare students to make significant contributions in advanced manufacturing technologies. The carefully integrated educational offerings at the University enable the student to be exposed to a wide range of professional education possibilities in their selected fields of specialization. A capstone thesis based project is required at the completion of program.

The Master of Science Program in Biomedical Sciences prepares graduates for positions as clinical laboratory managers, consultants, research associates and research scientists in the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology industry or medical toxicology.

The Master of Science Program in Biomedical Sciences prepares graduates for positions in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry or medical toxicology, such as:

• Managers of clinical laboratories
• Consultants
• Research associates
• Research scientists

Graduates of the program have been accepted into PhD and professional doctoral programs.
The program may be completed on a part-time or accelerated (coursework) schedule over a period of 1.5 to four years. Courses are offered late afternoon/early evening and meet once per week, allowing students the flexibility to work while taking classes or devote their full attention to their studies. Flexibility is the key.

The Sustainable Design program at Thomas Jefferson University was developed by a group of the country’s top sustainable designers and experienced sustainability professors. The result is an award-winning trans-disciplinary, collaborative design program. Students build problem-solving skills to develop market-driven solutions to become leaders in sustainable design to better serve society.

Our professors are comprised of theory-based full-time faculty and practicing professionals with diverse backgrounds in architecture, engineering, design, sustainability leadership, and construction management. Based on an integrated design education model, the program offers a unique advantage by introducing students early in the design process to experts, design options and real-world constraints.

Projects range from high performing sustainable design projects to sustainable initiatives for non-profits and start-ups. Industry partnerships feature prominently, providing networking opportunities and hands-on practice with real-world challenges. Strong integration with the design and sustainability community in Philadelphia provides students and graduates ample opportunities for internships, volunteer positions, and job placement.

Invasive cardiovascular technologists operate sophisticated imaging and patient monitoring equipment while working with the cardiologist, who performs procedures on patients, leading to the diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired heart disease and peripheral vascular disease. Using x-ray (fluoroscopy) and patient monitoring equipment, invasive cardiovascular technology (ICVT):

• Assist with percutaneous revascularization
• Operate cardiac assist pumps, patient monitoring and imaging equipment
• Monitor patient condition before, during and after procedure
• Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of the patient

Invasive cardiovascular technologists work directly with critically ill inpatients and outpatients of adult and geriatric ages, often performing invasive procedures. They work in a sterile environment, where they manipulate x-ray equipment to acquire images, sit at computer console to monitor vital signs and stand, sometimes for long periods of time, to assist the cardiologist during catheterization. The equipment invasive cardiovascular technologists work with requires that they wear lead aprons.

The Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling MS program will provide students integrative education and training to become compassionate and knowledgeable genetic counselors.

Learning Outcomes

• Jefferson College of Life Sciences launched our MS program in Human Genetics & Genetic Counseling, in the Fall of 2017.  
• Employment of genetic counselors is projected to grow 21% from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. There are only 48 graduate genetic counseling programs in the country.  Placement of a new genetic counseling program within the rich clinical and health science environment of the Jefferson enterprise would provide students significant competitive advantage.
• The learning outcomes for our program are based on the 2019 Practice-Based Competencies for Genetic Counselors set forth by the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling:

In this program, you will study psychology alongside biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, making this an ideal first step into further studies in a variety of experimental psychology settings, neuroscience, health fields, and scientific research.

You will work closely with faculty to develop an avenue of career possibilities. First, you select a concentration option – pre-medical or graduate school – allowing you to adapt your curriculum to your career goals and interests.

You will also learn to conduct professional-level research, completing an independent research project your senior year. During your time in the program, you can further enrich your education with internships in research, legal and educational settings; or study abroad anywhere in the world.

Thomas Jefferson University’s Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) is a five-year professional degree program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). Students receive an industry-centered, liberal arts-infused education, blending academic scholarship with hands-on, professional learning. The program encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, and most of our faculty members are practicing industry professionals. Instruction goes beyond the classroom to include industry partnerships, community engagement projects, study abroad, and internships with architectural firms in Philadelphia. As a transformative force in professional education, Jefferson gives students a working knowledge of the industry so they may contribute to a firm immediately, present work professionally, and think critically. Graduates are well-prepared for leadership roles as stewards of sustainability and to work with top firms worldwide.

The Jefferson Master of Architecture Program is a first-professional graduate program designed to prepare students for professional architectural practice through the development of sustainable design and technology skills, knowledge of project management, and collaborative experiences in an interdisciplinary environment. The program is located within easy access to Center City Philadelphia with its rich collection of major historical and contemporary buildings. Philadelphia also provides an ongoing laboratory for many of our courses and opportunities for internships.

The MArch Program offers multiple starting tracks. Your track will be individually decided based on your level of preparedness. The selection committee will consider your educational background, experience and portfolio. While each applicant is reviewed individually, these are the typical tracks:

• Students without a degree in a design discipline will typically begin the program with a 2-course summer program in design basics, before beginning the fall semester.
• Students with a satisfactory portfolio and experience in design basics will start in fall of the first year.
• Students granted advanced standing, typically coming from a 4-year pre-professional architecture program, will join the sequence in the second year.

The Master of Architecture is a 3+ year 100-credit degree program for students without advanced standing. Students granted advance standing may be able to complete the program in as little as two years with 49 credits minimum.
