The M.S. in Emergency and Threat Response Management meets the pressing need to fill national, state/regional, local, and international leadership gaps that exist in emergency management and homeland security while understanding the growing necessity to build resilience within a whole community approach. Using a multi-hazard approach to the management of disasters and crises, the curriculum balances theory and practice. The curriculum covers operations management, planning and response, civil unrest, and terrorism with additional options for the study of disaster public health and executive leadership. The degree provides students with a global outlook, interpersonal skills and emergency management knowledge and skills. Students will be prepared for emergency management positions in emergency management and homeland security in government and industry.

Our Master of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering provides interdisciplinary coursework designed to increase the understanding and application of engineering principles. All of our program faculty possess expertise in transportation, geo-technology, structures, water resources, and the environment. Courses include applied, hands-on education, and build the knowledge and training needed for students to contribute to the engineering field.

Interdisciplinary areas include mechanics and materials, and sustainability. This specialization also includes the following focus areas: Mechanics and Materials; Signals, Systems and Computational Intelligence; Sustainability; and Transportation Engineering.

Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management is a relevant and timely major especially with the current and impending threat of universal terrorism, the impact of climate change and natural disasters, and the enhanced need to address issues related to public safety and national security. Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management is an innovative and interdisciplinary degree program that focuses on training students in areas that impact human welfare locally, nationally, and globally. The program has a distinctive emphasis on urban issues and environments and the role that ethics plays in how policies, politics, and practices shape the quality of life for human beings in our state, nation, and world.

The Rowan University Mechanical Engineering (ME) Program offers an innovative and student-centered program, incorporating leading-edge educational methods that blend theory with engineering practice. The program provides students with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering science and design, and emphasizes the development of effective communication, teaming skills, and professional responsibility, in preparation for a career in a diverse global workforce.

Throughout the curriculum, students are exposed to mechanical engineering methods using hands-on state-of-the-art experiments, modern computational tools, and problem synthesis and solution approaches. The department offers a bachelor's degree in human services. The field of human services is a growing professional field. There is increasing demand for human service professionals in the field of child, adult, family and community services in various human service organizations and settings. Human Service professionals work with diverse populations providing a wide variety of social, personal, and health services depending on the need of the individual, group or community. Accordingly, the Human Services degree at Rowan University offers three unique concentration areas: direct care/direct services, administration, and criminal justice. Each concentration area is a total of 9 credits. Students also gain valuable experience during their field internship where they get course credit working at local human service organizations. Field internships allow students the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real life experiences.

Our M.A. in Writing encourages you to explore the principals of craft and the practices of writing. As a graduate student, you have the opportunity to focus on a central area of interest or create a diverse course of study that explores the intersections between creative writing, professional writing, new media, journalism, writing studies, and writing pedagogy.
