There are two versions to the program. One version is for those who already hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field, while the other is for those with no prior education in these areas. Those coming to the program without this education simply complete a set of four additional bridge courses on the topics of programming and computer systems. These will help you transition from your previous background to a level of readiness that enables you to successfully pursue the rest of the degree program.

A Serious Project Prepares You for the Real World of Cybersecurity and Networks

You will complete a substantial project that will demonstrate your level of expertise and professionalism so that you can hit the ground running when you land that coveted position in your chosen area. There are three ways to satisfy the project requirement: a thesis for which research would be done; taking a course in which a significant project occurs; or taking a separate course specifically dedicated to a project.

Through this interdisciplinary major, you’ll take courses in political science, economics, national security, legal studies, and history, studying conflict, development, and diplomacy. You will examine the resolutions of international conflicts, the role of inequality as a cause of conflict – and a critical component of its resolution – and explore post-conflict peace-making. You’ll do all this while learning from professors who have extensive international experience.

As an International Affairs major, you will also:

• Explore post-conflict reconstruction, foreign policy, and the international political economy
• Focus your studies on regions of rapid social change and economic development
• Study the necessity of sustainable socio-political systems
• Participate in high-impact activities such as the University’s award-winning Model United Nations team
• Develop communication, leadership, and organization skills and resiliency
• Pursue the federal government’s benchmark foreign language competency exam (ACTFL)

Graphic design is an activity of visual communication; its study is the critical analysis between form and content. The BFA in Graphic Design examines communication through the use of words, symbols, and images, and explores the graphic designer’s ability to bring clarity and visual aesthetics to communication through an understanding of the means of production, theory, and design practice.

The introductory courses in the graphic design program concentrate on basic design vocabulary, composition, color perception, and drawing. The curriculum continues and progresses through semiotics and practical techniques associated with typography, illustration, problem-solving methodologies, and applied design projects in branding, way-finding, and advocacy. The BFA in Graphic Design prepares students for the professional environment of graphic design found in independent design studios, agencies, and corporations. Additionally, the rigorous course of study provides students with the foundation to continue with graduate studies in the field.

The Master of Science in Taxation at the University of New Haven attracts a wide range of accountants, attorneys, executives, and government employees, but it’s an even bigger draw for those hoping to become CPAs. Connecticut law requires CPA candidates to complete 150 academic credit hours of coursework in order to sit for the CPA exam. This program provides those hours.

The University of New Haven M.S. degree program in taxation is designed for accountants, attorneys, government employees, and executives seeking to gain advanced expertise in taxation law. The International Business - Sport Management degree is designed to provide in-depth expertise in the discipline of sport management while it concurrently provides students with a broader, global business perspective. Such perspective is essential to operating in today’s increasing complex multi-national business context. The program ensures students have a proficiency in a second language, enhanced socio-cultural awareness and a robust study abroad experience. Today’s business climate is marked by fluid and interconnected financial markets, widely available technological advancements that increase global connectivity, increased international trade, and the emergence of vibrant growing economies in what were formerly considered third world countries. Increased globalization has necessitated that managers have a broad, holistic perspective that incorporates the diverse components of an international business degree. Such a degree will become increasingly valuable as the trends associated with 21st century commerce progress.

Program Outcomes:

• Demonstrate technical mastery of the techniques of event management.
• Students will evaluate how the cultural and legal differences between the country in which they studied abroad and the U.S. would impact how they operate in that country.
• Students earning a B.S. degree in international business - sport management are required to complete 121 credits, including the university core curriculum (41 credits) and the business program core (30 credits).  Further clarification and additional requirements are outlined below:

Finance data sets and tools similar to those used by financial firms. Competency with the tools, such as the Bloomberg, allows you to gain a good internship and a good job.

Become a CFA.  We have CFA review courses. Our faculty will help you with Level I and Level II exams.

Strong connection to local finance professionals.   In addition to our outstanding faculty, we draw in professionals from the securities industry to guide students.

Several courses have integrated the CFA® curriculum as provided by CFA Institute and are based on the Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) from the CFA® Program. Topics in these courses assist students in preparation for the CFA® exam.*

This program is designed to provide students the ability to explore and combine aspects of the theoretical foundations of national security, intelligence, international affairs/politics and develop competency across a broad range of methodologies supporting national security concepts. It will develop in students a working knowledge of the most prominent features of the global security construct with an emphasis on the United States’ national security enterprise and key global states, concerns, and concepts. The program will examine the components of national security as it ranges from security policy development process, operations, the legal authorities that support and constrain both of these, the politics and international affairs that drive the process and the intelligence that informs the decision-makers. The program will have an international focus and will encourage study abroad. Graduates of this program will be leading candidates for future employment or continued education.

Program Outcomes:

• Develop a working knowledge of the most prominent features of the global national security construct with an emphasis on the United States’ (U.S.) national security enterprise.
• Convey key security studies concepts, along with the language, logic and legal foundations of national security with an emphasis on the U.S. program and key individual actors within it.
• Apply, using qualitative and/or quantitative methods, knowledge of DIME-FIL approaches and Objective/Ends, Ways, Means, and Risks approaches to historical and current national security issues.
• Create, using qualitative and/or quantitative methods, a research design paper, a policy analysis brief, or a national security brief about the implementation of national security policy and practices.
• Conceptualize potential solutions to contemporary problems and anticipate future national security challenges and threats.

The Master of Public Administration is the most widely accepted and valued professional degree in the field of Public Service. Our MPA program provides students with the core skills and knowledge necessary to be a successful professional in Public Service, as well as offering students an opportunity to complete a concentration in one of five timely areas: 1) Municipal Management, 2) Public Financial Management, 3) Public Safety, 4) Nonprofit Management, and 5) Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Our MPA accommodates the needs of students new to the field as well as those already working in public service. In both cases, we seek students who are motivated to increase their knowledge and gain the skills necessary to take on challenging assignments in public service, particularly at the state and local level.

Students who concentrate in Municipal Management focus on the administration, management, and advancement of local or regional governmental units

Computer engineering involves the design and development of computer hardware and software and an understanding of how the computer and its devices interact — which is why computer engineering is closely allied with electrical engineering and computer science.

A computer engineer’s job also includes integrating software options with the hardware that will drive applications in many different fields such as:

• Biomedical engineering/food industry
• Design of digital systems in general
• Robotics/microcontroller/ microprocessor applications
• Design and operation of data communications systems

Our program will give you a rock-solid foundation in both hardware design and software engineering. The emphasis throughout the curriculum is on the design experience, leading to a two-semester project in the senior year.
