Students earning a B.A. degree in communication with a concentration in multi-platform journalism and media  will build specialized knowledge and skills related to journalism, television, and video production across a variety of platforms and formats in addition to a solid grounding in communication fundamentals.  Through coursework emphasizing writing and production, real world fieldwork opportunities, internships, and a practicum connected to the Charger Bulletin newspaper and television shows, students will learn to become competent and well-rounded media professionals.

Our master’s degree in sport management is the most established such program in Connecticut and the oldest program in the United States continually housed in a business school.

We have always focused on business and continue to lead the nation in cutting-edge business applications in sports. Boiled down to its essence, our degree is focused on cultivating and training industry leaders to work in the sports industry, or any other industry through hands-on experiential education.

A total of 30-36 credits are required for completion of the master of science in Sport Management (depending on the choice of concentration). The program is made up of a Sport Management core that is common to each of the concentrations (consisting of six Sport Management courses) and a set of concentration courses (consisting of between four and six courses tailored to that particular segment of the Sport Management discipline).

The M.S. in Sport Management with a concentration in Business Analytics (36 credits and STEM designated) provides an in-depth framework for the use of sport analytics and how data drives critical decisions in the sport industry.  The goal of this degree program is to enhance students’ quantitative and statistical skills (including predictive modeling and data management), build and understanding of the relationship between data and decisions, and develop the skills to communicate those relationships.

The University of New Haven's cybersecurity and networks program is one of the best in the country. Its research, program offerings, multidisciplinary approach, and performance in cyber competitions, among other factors, led to the University being designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations (CAE-CO) by the National Security Agency. The cybersecurity industry is expected to reach $170 billion by 2020. By 2021, there are expected to be 3.5 million unfilled positions in cybersecurity worldwide. It is impossible to overstate the importance of cybersecurity and network technology to businesses, industries, and government organizations. If their systems and programs don’t run smoothly, business and administration can be slow or even grind to a halt and the financial cost can be devastating. Our program will give you a solid understanding of both practical and conceptual cybersecurity and network technologies, including computer hardware, software, and design issues.

Students take hands-on courses related to networking, network defense, cybersecurity, cyber forensics, mobile device forensics and exploitation, and reverse engineering. Our students are also involved in conducting leading-edge research in cybersecurity, cyber forensics and networking, even as undergraduates.

Our students are in high demand upon graduation, and have been offered opportunities by organizations such as MITRE, Accenture, IBM, Intel, and NTT security.

The B.S. degree in business analytics prepares students for careers that use data to support and inform business decision-making and management. Students learn skills in a natural progression including assembling and managing data, displaying data, uncovering patterns in data, developing predictive models, and using these models to make better decisions across all business domains. Business analytics skills are in demand across a wide range of industries including healthcare, sports, marketing, finance, consulting, supply-chain operations, and information technology. Students are encouraged to develop expertise in a functional business discipline such as supply-chain management, health care management, marketing or finance using elective coursework.

The sport management concentration teaches students to utilize their quantitative analytical skills to make informed and accurate decisions in the sport management sphere.

Students earning a B.S. degree in business analytics are required to complete 121 credits, including the university core curriculum (41 credits) and the business program core (30 credits).    Further clarification and additional requirements are outlined below:

The University’s full-time MBA program, which is one of only two in Connecticut – and less than 30 across the U.S. – that offer concentrations that are STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) certified by the federal government, enables you to both master new skills through rigorous coursework and build a portfolio of experience through internships and real-world learning opportunities that will prepare you to excel.

Our program is a great choice for those who’ve recently completed an undergraduate degree or who are looking to continue their education straight out of college. The program’s schedule allows for students to complete the program in as few as 12 months for those who meet the criteria to waive the three business foundation courses, and carry a 12-credit hour load. Students who do not meet the waiver criteria may complete the program in less than two years.

The Hospitality and Tourism Management degree without a defined concentration affords students more elective choices and therefore enables students to add a minor from within the College of Business or from other Colleges in the University if they so choose

The International Business - Sport Management degree is designed to provide in-depth expertise in the discipline of sport management while it concurrently provides students with a broader, global business perspective. Such perspective is essential to operating in today’s increasing complex multi-national business context. The program ensures students have a proficiency in a second language, enhanced socio-cultural awareness and a robust study abroad experience. Today’s business climate is marked by fluid and interconnected financial markets, widely available technological advancements that increase global connectivity, increased international trade, and the emergence of vibrant growing economies in what were formerly considered third world countries. Increased globalization has necessitated that managers have a broad, holistic perspective that incorporates the diverse components of an international business degree. Such a degree will become increasingly valuable as the trends associated with 21st century commerce progress.

The Master of Public Administration is the most widely accepted and valued professional degree in the field of Public Service. Our MPA program provides students with the core skills and knowledge necessary to be a successful professional in Public Service, as well as offering students an opportunity to complete a concentration in one of five timely areas: 1) Municipal Management, 2) Public Financial Management, 3) Public Safety, 4) Nonprofit Management, and 5) Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Our MPA accommodates the needs of students new to the field as well as those already working in public service.
