The objective of the accountancy major is to educate students for professional careers in public, industrial, governmental, and not-forprofit accounting. To this end, the program provides a broad educational experience for students and gives them a background for completing professional accounting examinations such as the CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) and CMA (Certified Management Accountant). Accountancy majors may consider a minor in either management information systems or computing and information technology. Contact an advisor in computer science for details on the CIT minor. Students interested in financial management are encouraged to complete a series of accountancy and finance courses designed to prepare them for the CFM (Certified Financial Manager) exam. This major also provides an excellent undergraduate background for a degree in law.

Students who plan to take the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam should pursue the Master of Accountancy program upon completion of the bachelor program in order to meet the education requirements of the Accountancy Board of Ohio.

Transfer students who major in accountancy should note that at least 20 credit hours of their accountancy courses must be taken at Wright State.

The department has a chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the national accountancy honorary fraternity.

The Bachelor of Science curriculum in Chemistry approaches students' educational endeavors with a broad, integrated, and in-depth view. Departmental requirements, combined with university core requirements and electives, offer a balanced course load for students. This provides undergraduates with the opportunity to explore where their interests in the science field will lead them. This option combines all the required courses for admission to a professional school, which includes two years of chemistry, one year of physics, one year of mathematics, while utilizing recommended courses as science electives to fulfill the bachelor's requirements. Wright State has partnered with Miami University to bring our students the Greater Miami Valley Joint MASW program since 2012. Due to the success of this joint program, which is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), both schools are forming their own, independent MASW programs. We expect both independent programs to be accredited by CSWE and fully operational when the joint program ends in May 2021. At that time, Wright State students who were admitted and are enrolled in good standing in the joint program will automatically be admitted and transitioned to the independent Wright State MASW program. Beginning in the 2020 Summer Semester, all MASW classes for Wright State students will be held on the Dayton campus.

The M.A.S.W. program at Wright State University prepares students to be advanced generalist competent and ethical social workers to engage and intervene with diverse populations. Full-time (2 years), part-time (3-4 years), or advanced standing (3 semesters) programs are offered to admitted graduate students.

The Master of Science degree program in applied mathematics gives you a thorough introduction to application-oriented mathematics. The objectives of the program are:

• Develop your ability to analyze and solve a variety of real-world problems
• Increase your understanding of specific problems encountered in other fields

You may tailor your program to emphasize discrete or continuous mathematics, or probability and statistics. Coursework in an area of application, such as computer science, engineering, or physics is also encouraged. You may choose to complete a modeling project as part of your program.

The applied mathematics degree requires 30 semester credits of course work. The program is designed primarily to prepare you for a career in business, industry, or government, but can be tailored to provide a solid foundation for doctoral studies in mathematics. The department makes provision for part-time degree candidates by offering all required courses in the late afternoon or evening.

The B.S. Degree Program in Earth and Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences Concentration is designed to provide the knowledge, skills, and experience required for graduate study and to prepare students for professional careers in a variety of fields including energy resources, water resources, environmental protection, and environmental site investigation and remediation.

Program Outcomes
In this program, you will get a broad education in core business skills such as accounting, finance, marketing, management, and operations management along with emphasizing business and organizational studies and information systems technology. You will study business systems analysis, business system design, and computer programming. You will also focus on developing, implementing, and maintaining information systems in a variety of organizational environments. Coursework includes information system design, development methodologies, database management systems, electronic business, and data communications.

The Master of Humanities program offers a unique, flexible, interdisciplinary opportunity for graduate study, whether you are a traditional or non-traditional student.

You will explore questions from diverse perspectives rather than concentrate your study within a single discipline. Your program of study might focus on a historical period, a cultural region, or a social or artistic theme, and may combine, for example, ancient and modern cultures, literature and politics, philosophy and art, or history and religion.

The program is flexible because you design, in consultation with the director, your integrated individualized curriculum, pursue full-time or part-time study, and attend evening or day classes.

Computer scientists do not just design software for computers. They work with the software and software systems that allow the day-to-day use of any computing system. Concepts and theory are the focus of this major.

The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering offers a graduate program leading to a Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.) in materials science and engineering and a Ph.D. in Engineering with a focus in materials and nanotechnology. The graduate programs are broad in scope, emphasizing the interdisciplinary nature of the field of materials science and engineering. The program is built around processing, structure, properties, and performance of advanced materials relevant to numerous areas of application, such as biomedical, energy, aerospace, environmental, and manufacturing.

The mathematics component of the Bachelor of Arts program surveys the classical areas of mathematics—analysis, algebra, and geometry—and their history. Courses in statistics and in computer science provide a taste of two relatively young branches of the mathematical sciences. In addition, a broad choice of electives allows you to either pursue greater depth in one of these areas, or to sample a broader range of courses in mathematics, statistics, and computing.

The Bachelor of Arts program features breadth and flexibility. For instance, there is a Related Course Requirement specifically designed to accommodate subject matter outside the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and even outside both the College of Science and Mathematics and the College of Engineering and Computer Science.
