The Human Services Foundation program provides a broad education in understanding human behaviour and serves as a foundation for preparing the student to enter specific people helping career programs. Basic academic coursework relevant to human services and volunteer experience in a human services setting combine to provide a comprehensive introduction to the field of helping.

Electronics and Embedded Systems Development is a two-year Ontario college graduate program designed to build on students' theoretical knowledge of electrical engineering and provides training on electrical technologies, embedded systems, and computer-aided design. Graduates will be prepared for the workforce after completing a capstone project where students have the opportunity to design, implement and manage real-world solutions.

In today’s increasingly digitally-connected and knowledge-based economy, communication skills are crucial for professional success across a wide array of sectors. Advanced Communication for Professionals is an Ontario College Graduate Certificate program that supports learners and professionals in further developing their written, verbal and interpersonal skills.  Canadian employers are increasingly emphasizing the importance of these skills for hiring and promotion; this program therefore cultivates excellence in workplace communication, interpersonal communication, writing and reports, and project development. This exciting one-year Ontario College Certificate program allows you to delve into various areas of technology and will help you prepare for and decide on your next step. You'll study with a hands-on approach, exploring a variety of technology subjects such as AutoCAD, practical electronics, welding, machining, computer applications, health and safety, physics and transportation. In addition, you'll discover pathways to programs in the Faculty of Technology, including Building Technology, Applied Science and Technology and Transportation Technology.

This program emphasizes the dynamic role of the Doula within communities to prepare graduates for a rewarding career collaborating with health care teams to honour and advocate for expectant families throughout the full spectrum of their reproductive journey. The curriculum captures the specialized evidence-informed knowledge, skills, and experience relating to anatomy, physiology, and the emotional, physical, and cultural aspects of pregnancy and birth required by Doulas to provide families with information and support during pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, and including loss. In addition, students are introduced to business management/entrepreneurship concepts and strategies, including business ethics, contracts, marketing and sales techniques, and personal financial management.

Learning Outcomes

• Assist with the delivery of family-centred maternity care in collaboration with members of the health care team.
• Examine the historical, political, and cultural aspects of the provision of maternity care both locally and globally and identify how they shape the experiences of contemporary mothering to meet the needs of clients.
• Apply knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of a woman during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum to address the concerns and needs of clients.
•  Provide evidence-informed physical, emotional, physiological, and psychosexual support to enhance the comfort, health, and well-being of individuals and families as they negotiate the various transitions associated with pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
• Provide families with community and online resources related to the childbearing years to empower clients to make evidence-informed choices regarding pregnancy and birth options and newborn care, including infant and newborn nutrition.
• Describe diagnostic testing procedures and medical interventions routinely used during pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postpartum period, and recognize the normal ranges and parameters for those test results.
• Identify early signs of maternal physical and mental health concerns, and refer clients to appropriate community resources in a timely manner.
• Foster professional relationships with clients, family members, caregivers, and other doulas.
• Establish and maintain a professional doula business in accordance with professional, legal, and ethical guidelines.
• Identify and support clients’ needs based on the theories of diverse social determinants of health, cultural humility, and intersectionality and the principle of harm reduction.

Baking and Pastry Arts Management is a one-of-a-kind program that will prepare students for a career in baking and pastry arts, by combining baking with the fundamentals of cooking skills in order to meet the needs of todays employers and customers.

This two-year diploma program also assists students in developing skills to operate a successful business through the study of key theories in small business planning, management, marketing and sales. Graduates from this program will be able to seek a variety of different employment opportunities as a member of a culinary team in: restaurants, hotels, cruise lines, catering companies, bakeries and pastry shops. The hospitality industry is experiencing rapid growth and employers will benefit from qualified workers who exhibit characteristics learned in our Baking and Pastry Arts Management program.

This three-year, advanced diploma program follows a curriculum approved by the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO), the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CRST) and the National Alliance of Respiratory Therapy Regulatory Bodies (NARTRB), and is accredited nationally through Accreditation Canada.  College faculty, together with instructors from the clinical affiliates, provide the scientific foundation and clinical experience required to prepare students for practice at the entry-level within Ontario, as well as nationally and internationally.

This one-year Graduate Certificate program is designed to provide students with a holistic approach to information systems security as it applies to business.  The program will provide a broad understanding of security concepts and concentrate on industry best practices for information security.  Students will gain the knowledge required to manage both the strategic and operational aspects of information security.  The focus will be on addressing the following questions:

• What business assets need protection?
• What are the vulnerabilities and threats to the business and the assets?
• What safeguards need to be implemented to protect the business?
• Did the protection measures or safeguards work?

The students will develop the skills to identify vulnerabilities to business and implement effective safeguards to minimize risks to acceptable levels.  They will learn detailed practical aspects of security such as risk analysis, vulnerability testing, writing security policies, implementing access controls and performing security audits.  An emphasis will be placed on interpersonal, organizational, technical, communication and problem solving skills applied to enhance the effective implementation of security in a business environment.

A Mandatory Mobile Computing (Laptop) Program

• Develop security plans and strategies to include acceptable use of business information and systems by internal employees, contractors, consultants, business partners and customers.
• Develop security plans and strategies to ensure the integrity of information in compliance with best practices, relevant policies, standards, and regulations.
• Apply project management principles in the deployment of security policies and strategies.
• Perform security audits to ensure compliance with security plans, policies, standards, regulations and best practices.
• Develop and deliver a corporate training program to communicate both orally and in writing the security requirements for compliance with security policies.
• Prepare security documentation for approval by senior management and present results of security audits.

The Construction Engineering Technology program will develop the technical knowledge and skills required to oversee and manage the construction of residential, industrial, commercial and institutional projects - from the conceptual planning phase through to project completion and contract closeout. 

Students within the advanced diploma will learn how to estimate labour, material and costs, write and understand contacts, establish a project’s budget, develop a site logistic plan, schedule and manage construction projects, and perform on-site field engineering, field inspections, and utilize the latest onsite technology. You'll also learn the soft skills required to be an effective, respected leader - both in the office and on-site.

Co-op Opportunities 
The Construction Engineering Technology  - Management program offers a co-operative education component, which provides students the opportunity to gain invaluable first-hand workplace experience in their chosen field. Here are some co-op jobs that have kick-started the careers of some Construction Engineering Technology  - Management students before even graduating! 

Business - Finance (Co-op) is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program. This program is designed to develop the skills needed to work in the growing personal financial services sector, from customer service to wealth management and financial planning. Students will learn to work with clients, evaluating their needs and offer advice on personal financial management, tax and retirement planning, insurance, investments, and estate planning, as well as customer relations and providing product to clients. Qualified graduates will have completed all the educational requirements leading to the CFP® (Certified Financial Planner®) designation awarded by the Financial Planning Standards Council www.fpsc.ca. and the Registered Retirement Consultant® RRC® designation awarded by CIFP.

Students are also prepared to write the Canadian Securities Course® and Life Licensing Qualification Program examinations as prerequisites to securities and life insurance licensing. Students will also have completed the Mutual Funds Licensing course.

Co-operative Education
In order to be eligible for co-op, students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and be academically complete at the commencement of their co-op work term.
