The Motive Power Technician (Diesel) Diploma program is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program.  The program is designed to develop graduates with essential advanced technical, organizational, interpersonal, administrative and managerial skills required for the heavy duty service industry as well as providing progressive and comprehensive learning experiences on internal combustion compression ignition engines, power trains and related modern heavy duty systems. Students will learn to communicate effectively, diagnose and solve problems logically and to undertake responsible work tasks with a minimum of supervision.

Graduates may also be in a favourable status if they wish to apply for our alternative Motive Power Technician (Automotive) Diploma program. Credit for those courses that bridge our diploma programs will be granted; therefore, significantly reducing the requirements for this second Ontario College Diploma.

• Analyse, diagnose, and solve various motive power system problems by using problem-solving and critical thinking skills and strategies and by applyingfundamental knowledge of motor vehicle operation, components, and their interrelationships.
• Diagnose and repair climate control systems in compliance with manufacturers' recommendations.
• Diagnose and repair engine systems in compliance with manufacturers' recommendations.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, personal safety, and emission components and systems in compliance with manufacturers' recommendations.
• Diagnose and repair drive train components and systems in compliance with manufacturers' recommendations.
• Diagnose and repair suspension, steering, and brake components and systems in compliance with manufacturers' recommendations.
• Disassemble and assemble components to required specifications by applying workshop skills and knowledge of basic shop practices.

• Apply knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics to the testing and analysis of motive power systems and subsystems.

This one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate program develops advanced knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and awareness of effective intervention techniques via two field placements and academic study.  Graduates have highly specialized areas of knowledge in ASD and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to design and implement behaviour strategies, understand evidence-based treatments for individuals with ASD, collect and analyze data, and work with and train families on implementing behavioural strategies.

The Fanshawe Customer Service Fundamentals – Insurance program will get you on the right path to employment success. Beginning with an overview of business and insurance customer service (theory and practice) with a focus on distribution systems, you'll learn everything you need to work in a customer service role in an insurance brokerage, agency or direct insurance writer's office. This program is a great first step to more qualifications and you'll walk away with diverse skills needed for the modern and dynamic business world. Available in a traditional in-class format with September admission.

There are options to transfer directly into the second year of Fanshawe's Business Insurance program and earn your diploma in just two additional semesters.

When you graduate, you'll be eligible to write your Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO) or OTL licensing exams, you may also be eligible to obtain your General Insurance Essentials certificates from the Insurance Institute of Canada.

Automotive Sales is a one-year Ontario Graduate Certificate program. You’ll begin the program by creating a strong foundation in the fundamentals of technical sales and marketing, quickly moving into specialized training in new media marketing, CRM enabled selling, emerging transportation technologies, marketing management and more. This program is also an opportunity for further study for graduates of business programs and of motive power programs. It also provides a pathway to a post-graduate opportunity for journey-people with a Red Seal in a relevant trade.

This one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate program will provide students with the specialized knowledge and skills required for a career in aircraft maintenance and repair.  The curriculum is designed around the standardized quality management system for the aerospace industry (AS9100) to prepare graduates for a work environment that adheres to that system's requirements.  Practical elements of Aerospace Manufacturing skills, work-environment readiness, safety management systems, materials handling and tooling will be the focus of this Graduate Certificate. The program will be delivered in a face-to-face (web-facilitated) format.

This three-year Commercial Flight and Aviation Leadership Advanced Diploma is designed to prepare domestic and international students for a career in aviation. 

The program includes training in the following areas:

• Safety management systems
• Canadian Aviation Regulations
• Flight operations
• Professional standards and practices

In this program students will complete a Canadian Private and Commercial Pilot license including night, multi-engine and instrument ratings.  Graduates will be able to seek opportunities in Aviation flight operations and business ventures as well as professional flight positions. 

Flight training will be delivered by Diamond Flight Centre London Inc., located at the London International Airport. Business Fundamentals is a one-year Ontario College Certificate program. This program is designed to build fundamental business skills. This program is ideal for students who want to strengthen their foundational skills (math, writing, communication) before entering a two-year business diploma program; mature students who are preparing to re-enter the workforce; and international students. In the first level, students will take courses in customer service and business communication while improving their computer and math skills. Because the second level of Business Fundamentals is predominantly the common first level shared by all two-year diploma programs in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business, graduates may choose to transfer directly into the second level of any business diploma program; alternatively, they may enter the workforce in various entry-level positions.

Business - Insurance is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program. This program is designed to prepare students for positions in the property and casualty insurance industry. Students will study forms of general insurance, underwriting, claims investigation, risk analysis and contracts.  Students have the opportunity to complete nine of ten credits toward their Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation issued by the Insurance Institute of Canada.  Graduates work in high-demand areas of insurance such as underwriting, claims adjusting, brokerage or agency services and risk management.

This three-year program provides students with a strong basic knowledge of Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology with focus on the concepts of air, water and waste water management. In particular, the program emphasizes in-depth training in the principles and procedures of measurement and analysis techniques, and legislation for air, water and waste.

Co-operative Education
