Overview

Professional Financial Services is a one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate program, completed in two four-month levels. The program is designed to leverage a university or college credential in any discipline by providing a fast track to a career as a Professional Financial Planner. An intensive curriculum prepares graduates to provide clients with professional advice to build wealth and ensure financial security through setting goals, managing finances, minimizing tax, managing life's risks, and building investment portfolios, as well as customer relations and providing product to clients. The curriculum prepares students to pursue the Certified Financial Planner® CFP®, with the CFP designation awarded by the Financial Planning Standards Council www.fpsc.ca.  Graduates complete the Registered Retirement Consultant curriculum and may challenge the RRC® designation assessment.     Students are prepared to write the Canadian Securities Course® CSC® and Life Licensing Qualification Program exams. Upon successful completion of the program and external examinations, graduates are well equipped with skills and credentials to enter a wide variety of careers in banking, investment, insurance, credit and financial planning.

Fanshawe College's Law Clerk (Co-op) program is designed to provide students with a solid grounding in legal principles combined with the practical law clerk training that students will need to enter the diverse, fast-paced modern field of law. As a graduate of the Law Clerk program you will work as part of a team in law firms, corporate legal departments, financial institutions, insurance companies, legal technology providers, title insurance companies, Federal, Provincial and Municipal Governments or in any other capacity where a legal environment exists. Landscape Design is a three-year co-operative program of study providing training in the design of many types of landscape areas, with emphasis on residential landscape design as well as experience with commercial and institutional sites. A variety of skills in areas such as drafting, computer-aided design, three dimensional modeling, design illustration and visualization are combined with the knowledge of design theory, plant and hard materials, landscape construction and new technologies to provide students with the skills necessary to source employment in the expanding field of landscape design.

Qualifying graduates of the Landscape Design program, have the option to receive advanced standing into a related Honours Bachelor's Degree in the Environmental Design and Planning program at Fanshawe College as well as the Landscape Architecture program at the University of Guelph where they may continue their studies.

The Interactive Media Development - 3D Visualization Program at Fanshawe College is an intensive three-year advanced diploma focusing on the tools and techniques necessary to gain employment in the fields of visualization and emerging interactive technologies. The goal of the program is to provide students with the professional, technical and artistic skills necessary to create innovative visualizations, prototypes and info-graphics.

Students will develop 2 and 3 dimensional design skills by studying a curriculum focused initially on the core principles of visualization technologies and interactive media. Foundation courses including image and motion design, interactive production, project management, and visual communication will provide the basis for understanding sophisticated technologies such as virtual and augmented reality.

Throughout the second year, students will study more advanced concepts of visualization including 3D modeling, game engine simulations, visualization statistics, generative art and user experience design. In the third year, students will continue with advanced visualization studies with emphasis on an integrative capstone project (individual or group) or a client based applied research project internship.

This two-year professional program is designed to provide students with extensive practical understanding and knowledge to perform administrative support in a wide variety of medical environments.  The focus will be on medical terminology and transcription, medical billing, patient management, medical office procedures, medical ethics and research.  The emphasis will be on interpersonal, communication, organizational, technical, and problem-solving skills applied to enhance the effective operation of the medical environment.

Expert training in computerized medical records systems, billing systems and other office equipment technology applications will be combined with analytical and multitasking strategies to facilitate scheduling, decision making, co-ordination and task completion.  Utilizing these skills, students will be capable of overseeing a variety of medical office environments.  Researching, developing, and presenting accurate medical documentation, correspondence and reports will be emphasized.

This is a highly specialized, advanced program in the theory and practice of all phases of producing creative sound for film, television, gaming, web animations, live audio, video and all new media forms.  Concept building is emphasized through various means: audio production and surround sound design and mixing, field recording, ADR, Foley, live sound and game sound techniques.
