Positioned at the convergence of science and art, the Environmental Visual Communication program is designed to fill a recognized need for individuals who are passionate about environmental issues and storytelling and who want to effectively engage people to foster change.

With a focus on strategic messaging and technical savvy, you will learn to use photography, videography, multimedia and design principles to bridge environmental competencies with thoughtful communication through diverse media channels. The program takes place in a truly unique learning environment - at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in downtown Toronto.

Throughout the Environmental Visual Communication (EVC) program, you will learn how to identify strategies to inform and educate, garner engagement and support, and build and share campaigns to address conservation issues.

WORK PLACEMENT

• In semesters two and four you'll put theoretical education to work in a child care environment. In semester three, ECE teams will implement and run an Interactive Children’s Program, overseen by ECE faculty in the Peterborough community. This will prepare you for semester four, when you will be pulling it all together in your final block field placements.
• A background working with young children (ages newborn to 12) in licensed child care centres is strongly recommended as a prerequisite for field placement.

Fleming College's Paralegal program is specifically designed to prepare you, as a graduate, to meet Ontario’s paralegal licensing standards. The program is accredited by the Law Society of Ontario.

Program Highlights
The Fleming Paralegal diploma is accredited with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO ). The LSO is the governing body for paralegals. Fleming program courses meet all competency requirements and prepare you to write the licensing exam and become a member of the LSO. As a licensed paralegal in Ontario you can commission documents and represent clients dealing with lawsuits falling within the jurisdiction of Small Claims Court. You can act for people facing summary conviction charges under municipal by-laws, provincial statutes or the Criminal Code. Some serve as by-law enforcement personnel, or act in a prosecutorial capacity for municipal governments. Paralegals are also trained to assist clients through the potentially complex proceedings of tribunals such as the Landlord and Tenant Board, the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, or the Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal. As a graduate of the Community and Justice Services program, you will be challenged to do your personal best while learning how to develop effective relationships with those who are in your care. Throughout the two-year Community and Justice Services program, you will learn what's needed to work with society's at-risk youth and adult populations through experiential and in-class training. Your courses will include a significant focus on human relations and communications skills -- which are essential to your success in this field.

You will obtain the skills and training to work in diverse community and institutional settings. You may work with people who are currently involved, or who are at risk of becoming involved with the criminal justice system, child welfare, or mental health systems. As well, you may work with people who are currently incarcerated, or who are experiencing difficulties as a result of addictions, anti-social behaviours, or a lack of appropriate supports.

Our Field Observation course is unique in the Ontario college system in that it operates inside a federal institution. WORK EXPERIENCE
The field placement experience is a 15-week block, longer than placements in many other Community and Justice Service programs. During placement, you will be required to obtain a minimum of 520 hours in the field. Placements are available throughout the province and beyond, in correctional centres or community-based programs, including schools, residential treatment facilities and social service agencies. You will be required to submit a current police records check and vulnerable sector check to the placement agency prior to starting third semester. If you have been convicted of an offense under the Criminal Code for which you have not been pardoned or are flagged on a vulnerable sector check, you may be denied the opportunity to do a field placement. If you are deficient in one second semester course you will require a personal interview with the program coordinator to determine if field placement is possible. A student who is deficient in two or more courses will be unable to enroll in third semester until the transcript is complete and clear.

The Computer Security and Investigations program is designed to provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills to take a leadership role in the protection and security of information technology.

• Identify and install common plumbing fixtures in our multi-story KUBE structure
