Museum Management and Curatorship is an intensive, fast-paced, immersion experience that provides applied training for careers in the museum, gallery or heritage sectors. Approximately 75% of classes are held at the Peterborough Museum & Archives.

WORK EXPERIENCE
By the nature of this program, a significant amount of time is spent working in teams in the field, and on practical projects.
The third and final semester of the Museum Management and Curatorship program is a challenging, full-time, four-month internship during the spring and summer. This unpaid, curriculum-based internship will give you hands-on work experience where you will put all your hard work and studies into motion. Students should be prepared to relocate for the internship, to pay full tuition, and be self-supporting. You will negotiate your own internship with faculty assistance. Some students have gone abroad for the internship, for example, to Australia, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. The Electrical Techniques program provides pathways into a variety of occupations or training in the electrical industry. Develop basic competencies in electricity, network cabling and electrical system installation.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
The electrical field is growing in response to increased construction work in Ontario and other provinces. The 2-semester (30 week) Electrical Techniques program will provide you with the introductory and fundamental skills and knowledge to assist with the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment in residential, commercial and construction settings.

• The program provides several pathways into a variety of occupations and other college training programs in the electrical industry, including electronics, electrical mechanical and electrical apprenticeship.
• You will develop basic competencies in electricity, network cabling and electrical system installation.
• Related instruction in mathematics, prints and installations, safety and trade calculations is included to meet employers' qualifications.

Students in the Electrical Techniques Certificate program take the same courses as the first two semesters of the Electrical Engineering Technician diploma program. As a result, graduates of the Electrical Techniques program can enter into third semester of Electrical Engineering Technician (subject to enrolment capacity).

WORK PLACEMENT

• In semesters two and four you'll put theoretical education to work in a child care environment. • A background working with young children (ages newborn to 12) in licensed child care centres is strongly recommended as a prerequisite for field placement.

You’ll attend in-class intensive weekend sessions three times each semester, while the balance of course work is completed online. You may work with people who are currently involved, or who are at risk of becoming involved with the criminal justice system, child welfare, or mental health systems. Fleming College's CJS program has an excellent reputation across the province and beyond. Our Field Observation course is unique in the Ontario college system in that it operates inside a federal institution. Other community partnerships also afford students the opportunity to test their skills in real community and correctional environments throughout the four semesters of the program.

WORK EXPERIENCE
The field placement experience is a 15-week block, longer than placements in many other Community and Justice Service programs. During placement, you will be required to obtain a minimum of 520 hours in the field. Placements are available throughout the province and beyond, in correctional centres or community-based programs, including schools, residential treatment facilities and social service agencies. You will be required to submit a current police records check and vulnerable sector check to the placement agency prior to starting third semester. If you have been convicted of an offense under the Criminal Code for which you have not been pardoned or are flagged on a vulnerable sector check, you may be denied the opportunity to do a field placement. If you are deficient in one second semester course you will require a personal interview with the program coordinator to determine if field placement is possible. A student who is deficient in two or more courses will be unable to enroll in third semester until the transcript is complete and clear.
