TRADES FUNDAMENTALS PROGRAM OPTIONS
Upon successful completion of this Ontario College Certificate, you will have earned credit for first semester of the following programs, and can pathway into semester two of these Fleming College programs:

You will also have earned some transfer credits, reducing your program workload, if you choose to enter our Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or Electrical Techniques program.

Learn to program, support, and troubleshoot computer hardware and software in this four-semester program.

With this program, you will gain skills in computer networking and configuration, network security, and technical communications. You will also learn about solving computer problems that can cause both major costs and setbacks for businesses, whether due to a major hardware failure or a minor software incompatibility. Your core courses are complemented by training in oral and written communications, customer relations, and team work. There's plenty of hands-on learning, putting the theory you learn in the classroom into practice.

The Community and Justice Services program will prepare you for front-line work in the criminal justice system and community services field, where you can contribute to positive individual and social change.

Program Highlights
As a graduate of the Community and Justice Services program, you will be challenged to do your personal best while learning how to develop effective relationships with those who are in your care. Throughout the two-year Community and Justice Services program, you will learn what's needed to work with society's at-risk youth and adult populations through experiential and in-class training. Your courses will include a significant focus on human relations and communications skills -- which are essential to your success in this field.

You will obtain the skills and training to work in diverse community and institutional settings. You may work with people who are currently involved, or who are at risk of becoming involved with the criminal justice system, child welfare, or mental health systems. As well, you may work with people who are currently incarcerated, or who are experiencing difficulties as a result of addictions, anti-social behaviours, or a lack of appropriate supports.

The Skills for Justice Scenario Lab at Fleming College is a unique teaching and learning space where faculty are able to involve students in scenarios to test skills and develop competencies in a safe and realistic setting. Access to community-based experiential training is also an integral part of the program. The 15-week field placement gives you a great deal of exposure to the field – and employers respect and value your training. Fleming College's CJS program has an excellent reputation across the province and beyond. Our Field Observation course is unique in the Ontario college system in that it operates inside a federal institution. Other community partnerships also afford students the opportunity to test their skills in real community and correctional environments throughout the four semesters of the program.

WORK EXPERIENCE
The field placement experience is a 15-week block, longer than placements in many other Community and Justice Service programs. During placement, you will be required to obtain a minimum of 520 hours in the field. Placements are available throughout the province and beyond, in correctional centres or community-based programs, including schools, residential treatment facilities and social service agencies. You will be required to submit a current police records check and vulnerable sector check to the placement agency prior to starting third semester. If you have been convicted of an offense under the Criminal Code for which you have not been pardoned or are flagged on a vulnerable sector check, you may be denied the opportunity to do a field placement. If you are deficient in one second semester course you will require a personal interview with the program coordinator to determine if field placement is possible. A student who is deficient in two or more courses will be unable to enroll in third semester until the transcript is complete and clear.

Instrumentation technicians commission, install, calibrate, maintain and repair complex measurement and control systems used in a variety of process control applications.

Students in this program may have the opportunity to apply to paid summer co-ops. This new program is the only one of its kind in Ontario. Our unique three-semester Emergency Management and Business Continuity program is ideally suited for working professionals and those who are interested in pursuing a new career in this dynamic and growing field. The program’s flexible delivery model, online and on-campus delivery, means you can continue to work while pursuing advanced training. You’ll attend in-class intensive weekend sessions three times each semester, while the balance of course work is completed online. You will also put your skills to the test in a culminating applied project where you will develop and facilitate an emergency response or business continuity plan for a public or private organization.

Emergency Management and Business Continuity professionals are trained to prepare for loss of critical business functions. Students who choose to complete the three-year Business Administration – Accounting program gain additional hands–on learning experience in their final year. This applied learning focus prepares students to enter the workforce directly after completing the advanced diploma. They can also go on to pursue their degree, and ultimately their CPA designation, through our many transfer agreements with universities, listed below.

New Work - Integrated Learning Experience:
We have re-designed the program's applied learning component that takes place in semesters five and six. Put your education to the test in a new, innovative work-integrated learning experiences including a capstone course where you will complete an entire accounting cycle for a small, private corporation, and a 14-week work placement with a private, public sector, or not-for-profit organization.

Get additional direct experience while giving something back to local communities. Students will also have the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge and hone their interpersonal and communication skills through participation in the Canada Revenue Volunteer Income Tax Preparation Program. Students will utilize tax software to prepare and e-file tax returns for eligible Kawartha Lake residents.

Fleming's two-year Culinary Management program is designed to provide graduates with strong, entry level culinary management techniques, life skills and interpersonal skills which will contribute to your potential for career advancement in a team-based hospitality environment.

These extensive and varied workplace experiences will provide you with the opportunity to practice the theories and skills you have been studying in the program.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
As a graduate of the Personal Support Worker program, you will provide support services to individuals and families in need of assistance. With this satisfying, people-focused career, you will be prepared to assist children, adults, and seniors with special needs or disabilities, and help them maximize their life experience. You can start the program in September or January or May.

This two-semester Personal Support Worker program may particularly appeal to those re-entering the workforce. In total, you'll get approximately 400 hours of relevant theory and approximately 300 hours of real-life, clinical training. The focus of this program is on:
