Humber’s Paralegal graduate certificate program prepares you for an exciting career in the legal field. You will gain skills in legal research, oral and written advocacy, critical thinking and problem solving through a case-based and problem-based learning environment. You will develop your oral advocacy skills through active learning including presentations and mock trials.

Courses include tort and contract law, residential landlord and tenant law, employment law, small claims court, provincial offences and summary convictions, and administrative tribunal law and procedures. Studies in legal accounting, business planning, ethics and entrepreneurship help prepare you to set up and manage your own paralegal professional practice.

Humber’s Electrical Engineering Technician – Control Systems diploma program focuses on three major concentrations in electrical engineering:

• Power industry
• Process instrumentation
• Programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

Our courses are designed in collaboration with an industry advisory panel, ensuring you learn current and relevant material. This program builds on skills learned in the Electronics Engineering Technician diploma program and will prepare you to work in all fields where electric circuits and systems are found. You will acquire strong fundamental knowledge to help you build a career in all new and emerging technologies manufactured here in North America like photonics, laser technology, medical imaging, new electronic materials and devices, intelligent systems, entertainment, and broadcasting systems. The program takes a system design and integration approach to electronic applications, and you will gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on training in:

• Electronic circuits: analog, digital, radio-frequency and programmable circuits

You will spend approximately half your time in labs working with electronic, analog, digital and programmable circuits and learning how to embed these circuits into cell phones, audio equipment, high-definition (HD) video systems, robots, computers and advanced instruments.

This program offers a co-op option. Co-op work terms enable you to apply your skills and knowledge in a work environment and gain valuable, practical experience related to your program of study. You will learn new skills, learn about the world of work and meet people in your profession. For students who are accepted into the program, three co-op work terms will take place. The first four-month work term is between Semesters 2 and 3, and then two consecutive four-month work terms between Semesters 4 and 5. There are limited spaces in the co-op option. Therefore, you will apply for the co-op option during Semester 1 and be informed of the process by which to apply.  While co-op work opportunities are not guaranteed, as students are in a competitive job placement market, participating students will receive a wide range of services to help them find a co-op opportunity.

Humber’s Tourism – Travel Services Management diploma program is ideal for those who possess a genuine love of travel, exploration and adventure. The program will provide you with the experience you need to excel in this exciting industry including:

In order to best prepare for this dynamic industry, you will have several opportunities to travel internationally on both short duration trips and for full semesters abroad. In addition, several courses include local travel opportunities that give you hands-on experiences in a variety of tourism and travel products and adventures. In the Trip Planning course, you will plan and execute a travel experience. The program also includes extensive training with the most recognized software systems in the tourism industry.

Fast-track program – Students that start in January will complete the program on a fast-track schedule. The first semester (January to April) is immediately followed by the second semester (May to August), resulting in a short summer break. Students enter Semester 3 in September, completing the two-year program in just 16 months.

Students will apply their skills and knowledge in the fourth semester in a seven-week (32 hours per week) unpaid work placement. Placement opportunities include positions in retail travel agencies, tour operators and destination management companies. You will practise and develop skills selling tourism products, as well as gain introductions to operations, sales and marketing.

Humber’s Computer Programmer diploma program is designed to prepare students for a wide variety of employment opportunities within the dynamic and ever-growing field of programming. In addition to learning programming in a variety of languages, from ASP.NET to XML, you will gain an in-depth understanding of industry-standard operating systems and how to use them. You will learn everything from C programming and shell scripts, to back end web design and Java. Upon graduation, you will be equipped with the up-to-date skills you need for success.

Our programming courses are designed to give you a thorough grounding in theory and practice including web development and design, distributed computing, database management and administration, project management, technical writing, information technology, and all facets of information systems. Begin a career designing and manufacturing with a Mechanical Engineering Technology advanced diploma. Our graduates are able to perform engineering design and equipment/technology selection for major components in the design of mechanical systems; liaise with fabrication and engineering staff, as well as with vendors, for technical information and specifications; prepare preliminary and final cost estimates; and prepare and evaluate production processes, costing, tool design and inspection requirements. Graduates work in two main areas:

• Drafting and design, equipment testing, mechanical equipment installation and consulting engineering offices
• The metal cutting industries, programming, cost estimating, quality control and inspection, and in machinery sales

Humber's 3D Modelling and Visual Effects Production certificate program focuses on both the conceptual and the technical, as you learn to master visual techniques to bring ideas to life. You will develop skills in modelling, texturing and lighting, as well as in visual effects, compositing and digital cinematography. We employ a teaching process and course structure that requires content created in one course to be used to complete assignments in other courses. This “pipeline” process mirrors that of industry, allowing students to make a seamless transition into a real production environment.

The program is designed by artists for experienced traditional artists and animators who want to either develop or transition their skill sets for employment in the 3D and visual effects industries. January intake scheduling: students will benefit from our streamlined flexible schedule, allowing them to work their day jobs while they study for their dream jobs. Humber’s Cosmetic Management diploma program gives you the business base and cosmetic skills that you need for a career in the growing cosmetic and personal care industries.

The curriculum, designed in collaboration with the cosmetics industry, focuses on current market trends and touches on all disciplines that students require to enter the personal care products sector. Courses encompass training in cosmetic and skin care product ingredients, retailing, merchandising, marketing and social media, make-up and skin care application, as well as the skills necessary for running an independent business. Topics such as environmental implications and multicultural sensitivity are embedded in each course.

Our program delivers a range of business-focused cosmetic courses. You will be introduced to the history of cosmetics and fashion; retail buying; cosmetic and fragrance product knowledge; and application including colour theory and skin care fundamentals. You will study business ethics and sustainability, cosmetic selling, and counter management. You will learn how to use relevant computer software and build on your vocational skills with advanced cosmetic application and facial techniques.

Rounding out your education, you will develop your entrepreneurial skills and learn how to plan events and product launches as you plan and execute a skin or cosmetic workshop. You will also learn more advanced application techniques for TV, film and special effects.
