The Office Administration - Health Services diploma program at Lambton College is ideal for those students interested in providing support in a health and wellness care setting outside of the direct patient-care specialty. This two-year program prepares graduates to assist in medical and health-related offices. The positions may include assisting medical practitioners and wellness professionals to keep the office operating effectively or supporting the many offices or departments of hospitals or health care facilities. Employers need health care administrative professionals with exceptional medical office and advanced-level technological skills, including skills in transcription of a wide range of medical data, the ability to provide excellent customer service and the organizational expertise and discretion to keep the office running smoothly. One of the key components associated with a high level of workplace productivity and efficiency is Office Administration.

The final two terms focus on health services office administration with a concentration on medical terminology and its construction as well as a detailed background in anatomy and physiology. Students will be familiar with procedures required to operate a medical office including fundamentals of pharmacology, expert medical keyboarding, as well as OHIP billing and electronic records management. With a wide variety of hands-on practical experience built into the program, graduates of the Office Administration - Health Services program are fully trained to meet the demands of today's health care and wellness setting. Students embrace an active-learning environment including an optional internship in the fourth term providing up to 180 hours of practical health care office and wellness experience. Health Services students are strongly encouraged to register for the CPL-1003: Internship. Students are also provided opportunities to grow their co-curricular record.

In the 2019 Key Performance Indicators (KPI) survey, 100% of the students were satisfied or very satisfied that this program provided them with the knowledge and skills that were useful for their future career. Likewise, 100% of students were satisfied or very satisfied with the quality of the program and their learning experiences and 100% of the students were satisfied or very satisfied that the program developed their computer skills.

The Lambton College Sport Business Management, Ontario College Graduate Certificate prepares graduates for careers in the exciting and ever changing sport business sector.

With a Canadian sport industry focus, the curriculum enables graduates to be leaders in management and operations in this exciting industry. The program’s curriculum prepares graduates with knowledge and skills in sport marketing, sales, sport sponsorship, event bidding and planning, facility operations, human resources, finance and administration. Experiential learning is built into the curriculum allowing students to apply skills and knowledge to projects with organizations and clients in the sport industry and expand their business leadership skills through collaborative team projects. Graduates may find employment in a variety of sport business professions.

The Accelerated Chemical Production & Power Engineering Technology program has been designed for graduates with a B.Sc. (Chemistry) or equivalent. Students will study core courses taught in the Chemical Production & Power Engineering Technology program and the principles underlying the complex technologies used in today’s processing industries.

Students enrolled in this program will train in Lambton College’s newly renovated Centre of Excellence in Energy & Bio-Industrial Technologies which contains complex lab and pilot plant facilities. The Centre duplicates a real-life manufacturing environment and the technologies developed can easily be scaled-up and transferred to an actual operating unit. The Centre offers state-of-practice technology laboratories and infrastructure to support learning and research in next-generation technologies in collaboration with industry.

The program prepares students to write the 4A and 4B TSSA 4th Class Operating Engineers Certification exams. This is an industry accepted certification that can lead graduates to a variety of career opportunities. Upon successful completion of the first two academic terms, students can apply to the TSSA to receive a nine-month practical steam time reduction towards their 4th Class Operating Engineers Certificate. TSSA registration eligibility requirements and fees are controlled by the TSSA and are in addition to the CPEX program requirements and fees.

The Border Services program provides foundational knowledge and experiential hands on-learning to individuals who aspire to work as border services officers.

During the first year, a broad theoretical foundation is provided on human relations, mental health, critical interpersonal, communication and team building skills and an overview of the criminal justice system. The second year focuses on courses specific to determining admissibility of persons, goods and conveyances into Canada, legislation, documentation and technology required to move goods and people across the border. In addition, students will acquire important communication skills, dispute resolution and critical thinking skills required as Canada's first line of defense.

Students also achieve certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training from the Crisis Prevention Institute and Introduction to Incident Management System (IMS-100) from Emergency Management Ontario. The goal of the Border Services program is to provide students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for not only a career in public safety but also as a foundation for continual educational pathways into related fields of study.

Our criminal justice lab offers students the opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice in an innovative real world setting. By moving beyond theory, students learn by doing and get first-hand experience of practicing what has been taught. Students also gain volunteer hours and field related experience through participation in Lambton College's student run Safe Walk program. Lambton College's faculty is diverse representing the criminal justice system, police, border, security and other related professionals. Specialized courses within the program have an interdisciplinary focus and allow students from various first responder courses to learn together in the classroom and in scenarios. These experiential learning opportunities, coupled with small class sizes, ensures students receive a quality educational experience.

Lambton College's Electrical Techniques program utilizes applied learning combined with strong theoretical training to prepare students for a career in the extensive electrical field.

Working both in the classroom and in various lab and shop settings, students gain practical, hands-on experience in electrical fundamentals. In just eight months, students will be able to master the basic skills needed to help compete for employment as an electrical apprentice.

These skills go well beyond the minimum requirements to begin an electrical apprenticeship. After students earn their Electrical Techniques certificate, they can continue their education in related technology programs at Lambton College.

Individuals with a passion for enriching the lives of young children will find support from Lambton College's caring staff as they gain the skills needed to become a knowledgeable, competent Early Childhood Educator. This two-year program educates students to work effectively with young children in order to nurture childhood development and maintain healthy relationships with their families. Students are introduced to both theory and practice through technology enhanced classroom theory, and experiential learning in hands-on workshops and field practice. This combination gives students the knowledge and skills to work with young children aged 0-12 years in a variety of settings. Students graduate with over 600 hours of practical experience.

Students also have the unique opportunity to complete a placement in our on-site EarlyON Child and Family Centre. Our on-site Parent and Professional Resource Centre offers valuable resources for curriculum planning, research, and professional development.

Looking for a program that leads to a rewarding career in accounting, that challenges students to develop valuable critical thinking and analytical skills, and has an option for a simple pathway to a university degree – then the three-year Business Administration – Accounting program is definitely the right fit for you! This program can lead to various pathways to professional accounting credentials that can be beneficial to career development and advancement. Graduates of this program pursue careers as managerial accountants, financial analysts, tax professional, auditors and small business controllers.

Students in this program receive a well-rounded and thorough education in important aspects of business such as human resources, law and marketing in addition to the comprehensive accounting courses taught by Lambton's accounting faculty who bring a wealth of industry experience and all hold the Chartered Professional Accountants designation. There is a focus on developing strong communication, planning, teamwork, and analytical skills while studying accounting theory and practice, financial statement analysis, cost management and control, taxation, and computerized accounting systems.

Experiential Learning Opportunities 
Because practical work experiences are vital, students are given the option to participate in a co-op work experience in term 5. This provides exposure to a business environment and valuable work experience in the accounting field. In the final year of the program students utilize all their knowledge, skills, and abilities gained over the duration of their program in the Entrepreneurship capstone courses. Through a series of culminating reports and presentations, students showcase their knowledge, skills and abilities to corporate partners who provide feedback and enhance this experiential learning opportunity.

It is an exciting time to be a nursing student at Lambton College. Students work in Simulation Labs with both high-tech equipment and simulated patients (actors), providing students with learning experiences that are truly rewarding and unique. Lambton College prepares future nurses so they may enter the health care profession with both required knowledge and hands-on skills to be successful practitioners. Students will experience the importance of smaller class sizes and individual attention by faculty enriching the learning experience.

Beginning in the Fall of 2019, the collaboration embarks on a new curriculum designed to meet the evolving needs of the 21st century nursing student and future nurse. With an ever increasing need for agricultural business employment, the Lambton College Agri-Business Management, Ontario College Graduate Certificate program is designed for students who wish to enter a career in the agricultural sector at the supervisory level, or to manage relationships in an agri-business environment typical of a sales or other agricultural services role.

In this multi-disciplined program, students utilize existing related education or experience to learn and apply a variety of skills to help operate and manage an agricultural business. Students develop a foundation of business skills, including communications, accounting, human resources, relationship managing and marketing strategies that apply to the Canadian agricultural industry of today. With the rapid adoption of agricultural technology, students study the impact of this technology on farm operations, as well as on other applications, from software to farm machinery.

To round out the learning, students study environmental farm management to gain a deeper understanding of the production of food, feed, and fuel as well as livestock physiology and health, pest control management and new and emerging agri-business technology. This hands-on program will include a real-world course on farm machinery to provide a robust understanding on farm equipment operations and safety.

The Lambton College Interprofessional Practice - Gerontology, Ontario College Graduate Certificate focuses on preparing graduates to work interprofessionally to enhance their professional practice to care for aging adults and families who require complex and/or long-term care within institutions or in the home in Canada. In the program, students develop skills in collaborative patient-centred care and inclusive practice.

Program curriculum includes comprehensive patient assessment and team approaches to client and family centric care planning and delivery. Students also study various age-related changes in social, psychological and biological functions to evaluate the implications of these changes on individuals' ability to interact with their social and physical environments and on individuals' care needs.

As a culmination of program learning, students participate in both an interprofessional field placement within a community organization as well as a community project, which includes the completion of an associated capstone project research paper. Program curriculum along with real world experiences prepares graduates for employment in a range of Canadian work settings including senior centres, day and leisure programs, research and education services, retirement homes, long term care homes, group homes and home support services.
