In this program, you'll experiment with five subject areas — chemistry, engineering, architecture, information technology and trades — helping you decide what you want to focus on in your career.

Prepare for a technology or trades program
This program will also help you meet the admission requirements for technology diploma programs. You'll upgrade your skills and academic experience, which will help you to be successful in any technology or trades program you choose.

Conceive, Design, Implement and Operate
Theory is important, but so is the opportunity to put it into practice. Because our electrical engineering degree is one of the few in Canada that embrace the CDIO Initiative (Conceive, Design, Implement and Operate), you’ll spend up to 50% of your class time working in labs. By using the systems you build, you'll learn what it takes to imagine and develop user-friendly solutions.

Specialize in Energy or Mechatronics
In the third and fourth years of your electrical engineering courses, you'll have the opportunity to specialize in one of two technical streams — energy or mechatronics. Our energy stream prepares you for work in the electrical utility sector. In the mechatronics stream, you'll gain the skills necessary to work in the fields of automation and instrumentation.

Sheridan's Electrical Engineering Technician program offers you the opportunity to gain proficiency in advanced electrical and communication principles. You'll graduate from this two-year program with extensive hands-on experience and a broad skill set applicable to a wide range of industry contexts.

Things you'll learn to do

• Interpret and produce electrical and electronics drawings.
• Analyze and solve routine technical problems related to electrical systems by applying mathematics and science principles.
• Use, verify and maintain instrumentation equipment and systems.
• Assemble, test, modify and maintain electrical circuits and equipment.

The two-year program focuses on technical and professional skills required to work in a variety of Health Service settings. You will learn to use specialized medical software, OHIP billing, electronic calendaring and scheduling, and communication software applications.

Medical Simulation or Field Placement
When you have successfully completed the first three terms and have met a prescribed GPA, you have the option of choosing either a Medical Simulation course or Field Placement (two days per week). Both options prepare you for entry-level administrative support positions in a medical office or setting. This is an excellent opportunity to gain work experience and evaluate different career paths.
