Civil Engineering Technologists play an important role in the efficient and sustainable operation of our cities and infrastructure. They are core members of the teams that plan, design, construct, and maintain buildings, roads, bridges, sewers, and water distribution systems. These systems keep our transportation systems operating, water flowing and provide safe structures for private and public services.    

With a focus on municipal engineering, structural design, water resources and surveying this three-year advanced diploma provides a strong foundation in core civil engineering subjects. The course work provides a balanced education in engineering theory, combined with practical work in laboratories and in the field.

If you want to work in the growing and highly specialized field of applied behaviour analysis, as well as learn related therapeutic treatments, the Behavioural Science program is where you want to be. For over four decades, the Behavioural Science program has trained students to work front-line with a wide range of client populations in a variety of areas within the human services field. Students are taught how to develop and implement behavioural interventions to teach skills to clients and/or reduce challenging behaviours. 

Students interested in this program should have a strong desire to work with populations who present with complex behavioural, cognitive, emotional and/or psychological issues. They should also be comfortable to work with any population that presents with disruptive behaviours and/or intellectual challenges. Students coming to the program need to be prepared to complete practicum placements working with any of the client populations listed below under career opportunities. Our program trains students in specific treatment options that can be applied to work with any individual who presents with challenges rather than preparing students to work with only one or a specific client population.

  • Teach children to manage their behaviour and learn adaptive skills;
  • Assist people with intellectual disabilities to access community resources, learn new skills, and live more independently;
  • Teach youth at risk to improve social skills, manage interfering behaviours, and meet treatment goals;
  • Support persons with mental health challenges to reduce their stress, build self-management skills and organize daily activities;
  • Assist clients with acquired brain injuries to learn functional skills and develop life skills;
  • Work with offenders in correctional facilities to build positive skills and behaviours;
  • Recognize what an addiction is and understand various ways to prevent addiction and manage recovery.

Students complete four field placements where they receive experience and practical training in the skills they have learned in the classroom. Our program has many field placement possibilities in a variety of interesting and dynamic settings.

The curriculum in this graduate certificate program focuses on digital strategy development, an area of the industry where there is a shortage of trained professionals. The program will deepen the students’ marketing communications skills and develop new skills in planning and implementing Integrated Marketing Communications campaigns. Students learn how to utilize interactive tools to develop customer-focused interactive marketing programs as well as web analytics to predict and measure the success of web and social media campaigns. Hands-on practical experience is gained through an agency model where students work to solve real challenges from real clients, followed by a 6-week work placement.

Combine theoretical study with practical experience in this program which prepares students to work with children (from birth to age 12) and their families in a variety of early childhood settings. Graduates have a firm understanding of human development from birth to 12 years of age, and can use this understanding to create responsive, inclusive, play-based learning environments to best support the child as they develop. Students receive 630 hours of practical experience in a variety of early learning environments during three field placements, starting in the first year of the program. This experience allows students to apply the skills taught in the classroom in real world learning experiences.

The General Arts & Science (Certificate) program offers a foundational year for students preparing for future study in a wide range of fields. For stu­dents in the Technology stream, core courses in communications, computers, and personal development are enhanced by courses in math, chemistry, and physics. Graduates of the Technology stream are prepared for future study in college programs such as Civil Engineering Technology, Energy Systems Engineering Technician/Technology, Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technician/Technology,and Game Development Technician.

The internet continues to evolve at a rapid pace and the data of organizations have never been more vulnerable than now. Cyber attacks are costing organizations hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars per occurrence, and happen so often they are often featured in the news. There is a worldwide shortage of cybersecurity professionals as every organization seeks ways to make their data more secure.

Once you graduate from this eight-month, full-time graduate certificate program, you will be equipped with skills to protect your organization’s computers, servers, networks, and applications from breaches and unauthorized access. The courses in the program will give you an edge in detecting breaches, computer forensics, threat hunting, and penetration testing.

In addition, this program is highly interdisciplinary and includes aspects of law, policy, human factors, ethics and risk management. Focused on cyber-defense training, the program ensures you are able to “think like the intruder” when deploying security techniques. Upon graduation, students acquire skills relevant to leadership roles in cybersecurity across a variety of industries and businesses.

The Music and Digital Media (MDM) Program is the only program of its kind in Canada. This challenging program builds foundational skills related to music performance, multimedia, film and audio recording. MDM prepares students for careers in music and media industries, and further education, if they wish.

The program focuses on the connection between diverse artistic disciplines and creative integration of art forms. Studies in music are combined with digital media courses in video production and audio recording. Throughout the program, students study their primary instrument (or voice) in 10 private applied lessons per semester. In second year, students gain experience in composition, entrepreneurial skills, and integrated arts project work including performance, sound design and installation art.

Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technicians are important members of the health care team. Interacting directly with patients, they perform ECG’s and collect blood samples for laboratory analysis.

Inside the laboratory they assist other professionals by sorting and preparing samples for testing, operating laboratory equipment, performing basic laboratory testing under supervision, and managing data in computers.

This program includes two semesters of learning in our classrooms and laboratories followed by a final 4 weeks of field placement occurring inside the laboratories of partner hospitals and private institutions. The College arranges this and students are expected to finance clinical placement costs (tuition, travel, room and board).

This program offers field placements that are matched with students' strengths and skill-sets, providing students with practical experience and making them job-ready upon graduation. We offer a two-year program and a three-year option with the first two years being common to all Advertising students. Students in either stream can choose to graduate with the two-year diploma or continue with the third year to explore more deeply the full breadth and scope of integrated marketing communications; a field with strong job prospects across all industries.

Child and Youth Care practitioners are specialists in facilitating change in children, youth and young adults who are experiencing a range of social, emotional and/or behavioural challenges. Children and youth respond to the impact of change, stress, loss, poverty, violence, abuse and neglect with a range of emotions and behaviours including confusion, anger, withdrawal, aggression, hopelessness, violence, and suicide. Many of the children or youth experience numerous challenges and may have a variety of diagnoses.

Additionally, increasing numbers of these youth are in conflict with the law and/or are receiving therapeutic intervention. Understanding the individual and the unique nature of his/her response is therefore an important first task. Child and Youth Care (CYC) practitioners are a valuable resource to children, youth and their families in this process. They commit themselves to understanding and interacting in therapeutic relationships with these children, youth, and their families to promote and facilitate positive change.
