In the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Regina, we provide quality education opportunities through dedicated classroom teaching and innovative research programs.

The Master's program consists of the following minimum credit-hour requirements listed below. In addition, it is mandatory for all students to:

• Attend all department seminars each semester they are on campus
• Present a department seminar and two progress reports on their research
• Complete and defend a research thesis

The therapeutic recreation bachelor’s degree program at the University of Regina will prepare you for a unique health career as a recreation therapist. Therapeutic Recreation uses leisure, play, recreation, and physical activity as treatment modalities to support purposeful and meaningful interventions that are based on individual strengths and values, and are guided by assessments. By studying therapeutic recreation, you will gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities to use recreational activities that focus on the person, to enhance their quality of life and well-being.

What Is Therapeutic Recreation?
Therapeutic recreation uses a person-centered approach, focusing on strengths, and applies recreation and leisure theory to improve quality of life and well-being. 

The classes in the U of R’s Bachelor of Sport & Recreation Studies Therapeutic Recreation degree program include:

• Therapeutic Recreation Foundations, which is an introduction to therapeutic recreation, and covers its theoretical foundations and how it developed as a profession
• Therapeutic Recreation Interventions, which examines the intervention process and the forms of interventions and strategies used to bring about changes in physical, social, emotional, and cognitive functioning for persons with disabilities, limitations or age-related conditions
• Therapeutic Recreation: Mental Health and Addictions, which explores mental health and addictions through a therapeutic recreation lens. Students will learn about the range of mental health and addictions-related conditions and the impact of therapeutic recreation treatment on rehabilitation and recovery.

Process Systems Engineering (PSEng) is a broad category of engineering that deals with the process design for the purpose of converting raw goods to usable end products, including energy. Process engineering looks at the entire process from Point A, which is a raw material, to Point Z, which is the desired end product. It does not necessarily deal with acquiring the raw base material, although knowledge of its acquisition is part of the U of R’s systems approach to teaching and research.

The Department of Music’s MMus and MA degrees can lead to career opportunities in performance, education, library science, music publishing, media, and arts administration, among others. It also provides exciting potential for further studies at the doctoral level. Our programs promote study in areas as traditional or contemporary as you are, with individualized instruction, and excellent performance and rehearsal facilities. There is also ample opportunity to explore interdisciplinary studies with the other Media, Art, and Performance areas.

Master of Music (MMus) in Performance (Voice)
This 30 credit hour program offers advanced studies in the above areas of specialization, as well as directed studies in the repertoire of the student’s instrument. Students study solo repertoire, participate in chamber ensembles, and undertake leadership roles in the ensemble most relevant to them (orchestra, concert band, wind ensemble, concert choir, or chamber choir). This program includes the performance of two full-length recitals. All students also take graduate courses in critical theory in the fine arts, and in research techniques specific to music. Graduate students in Performance participate in workshops with internationally renowned guest artists and are encouraged to perform in competitions at the national and international levels.

The Master of Indigenous Language Education degree aims to:

• Prepare students as leaders in Indigenous language acquisition and revitalization;
• Provide students with the required skills, knowledge, and competencies needed to become effective Indigenous language educators;
• Prepare students to conduct research with Indigenous peoples;
• Provide students with opportunities to learn, understand, and experience Indigenous knowledges, worldviews and perspectives; and
• Equip students with the competencies and abilities to integrate Indigenous languages and knowledge into school curricula.

Teachers, Indigenous language activists, and language and social policy makers currently working in elementary, secondary and post-secondary institutions (both off and on-reserve) as well as government, public and private sectors are the target groups for this program.

The bachelor’s degree in electronic systems engineering from the University of Regina in Saskatchewan prepares you to become an effective engineer with career options across many areas of specialty, including:

• Wired and wireless communications
• Embedded systems
• Electric power
• Control and automation for natural resource and manufacturing industries

Accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB), this electronic systems engineering bachelor degree qualifies you to register with provincial/territorial associations, which puts you on the path to becoming a professional engineer.

U of R’s systems approach to electronic engineering focuses on critical technical engineering content as well as safety, environmental, social and economic considerations.

Students can complete the pre-medicine requirements for the University of Saskatchewan MD Degree at the University of Regina. Students must complete a 4-year baccalaureate preparatory degree to be eligible to apply to the College of Medicine. As well, students will be required to write the MCAT for admission.  The most up-to-date requirements and notice of upcoming changes will be posted on the College of Medicine website at www.usask.ca/medicine.

Students looking to apply to medical schools other than the U of S are able to complete their pre-med requirements here, but should check the various medical schools for their particular admission requirements.  These students are welcome to consult with our advisors to ensure they get everything they need. Pre-medicine courses completed at the University of Regina can be used toward a variety of programs at the University of Regina.

What is Petroleum Systems Engineering?
Petroleum Systems Engineers develop techniques to efficiently recover oil, gas, and other minerals while reducing environmental impacts using various pollution remediation and greenhouse gas reduction techniques.

Our Program
The Petroleum Systems Engineering (PSE) undergraduate program teaches evaluation, design, and management of technologies used in evaluating reserves and in oil and gas production and treatment. Advanced computer utilization and automation are integrated into the program.

The Master of Public Administration (M.P.Adm., M.P.A., or MPA) is a professional post-graduate degree in public administration, similar to the Master of Business Administration but with an emphasis on the issues of governance. The Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, accredited by the Canadian Association of Programs in Public Administration (CAPPA), is designed to prepare students for careers in public administration and policy work in diverse areas such as non-government organizations, industry associations, and, of course, the public service. 

Pursue your musical passion within a close-knit community of inspiring and accomplished composers, performers and historians dedicated to their craft, their colleagues and their students.

The four-year Bachelor of Music degree program provides excellent preparation in the fields of performance (vocal or instrumental), composition, or comprehensive music. Private studio lessons help students develop their technique and artistry. Individual study is complemented by courses in the history, analysis and theory of music that cover historical and contemporary music. Courses in conducting and participation in dynamic vocal and instrumental ensembles are a source of valuable practical experience and performing opportunities.
