The Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Plant Systems has four tracks; students in the Controlled Environment Agriculture track cultivate technologies to efficiently produce plants and plant-based products. Students learn how to use environmentally, socially and economically sustainable growing systems in arid lands and urban settings. Thanks to the university's location in Tucson, this interdisciplinary program pioneers the study of arid agriculture. The discoveries made here offer farmers and leaders around the world solutions to growing more, improving yields and reducing pest problems, all while using less land, chemicals and water. Students graduate with a science-based foundation, prepared to advance the industry of modern agriculture.

Develop the skills and knowledge to help guide the world toward a sustainable future. Biosystems engineers help protect the health and well-being of humans, wildlife and the Earth. Students earning the Bachelor of Science in Biosystems Engineering collaborate with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and several College of Engineering degree programs. They study ways to sustainably feed an ever-growing world population, harness and preserve natural resources, and overcome environmental challenges. Students are immersed in design throughout their undergraduate experience. The future depends on biosystems engineers working in fields such as agriculture, water conservation and renewable energy.

Learning Outcomes

• An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering; At the time of graduation students will: ¿ be proficient in mathematics to a level of differential equations ¿ have an understanding of the physics concepts of mechanics, electric circuits, thermodynamics, and optics. ¿ be knowledgeable in basic chemistry ¿ be competent in the knowledge of and applying engineering science as required for their majors

Psychology is the study of the mind and how it influences actions. Students earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology learn about individual behavior and that of society as a whole. Coursework includes the study of development, learning, personality, memory, perception, consciousness, sexuality, love, spirituality and more. Undergraduates learn fundamental principles and concepts of psychology and crucial problem-solving skills relevant to a variety of industries. Potential career fields include social work, therapy, public health, human resources, nonprofit sectors, sales and marketing, and law and forensics. The B.A. allows students with an interest in careers in psychology to graduate job-ready.

Immerse yourself in the culture of past, present and future Japan. Students in the Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies program pick from one of two emphases: language or culture. The Japanese Culture Intensive emphasis introduces students to the traditions, history, culture and religion of Japan, including some instruction in the Japanese language. Understanding the nuances of this nation in the third-largest economy in the world and is essential for students who wish to work internationally or gain a global mindset. Skills acquired include articulate communication, critical thinking, research and argument construction. Students are encouraged to pursue opportunities to study abroad in Japan.

Delve into the complex world of information systems and computational methods, and transform data into the real-world information humans use every day. A degree in Information Science and Technology helps students build the mathematical and computational foundation they need to analyze  and grow in the digital world. This Bachelor of Science leans more heavily on the technical side of information science, including requirements for higher math and specialized courses, than the Bachelor of Arts in Information Science in our program. Students take courses in advanced computing techniques, machine learning, data science, artificial intelligence and theories of new media. Paired with a minor or second major in computer science, math or business, this program equips students for professions that aim to shape the digital landscape, from data engineers to user experience (UX) designers.

The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with the Ethics emphasis trains students to approach philosophical exploration with the rigor of analytic thinking, which goes beyond casual discussions based on opinion. Philosophy majors critically examine questions such as, ""How can I know for sure if what I believe is true?"" ""What sort of society is best?"" or ""Is morality whatever society says it is?"" In scrutinizing potential answers, students hone the skills of critical thinking, problem-solving, conceptual analysis and argumentation. Students learn how to look at the big picture, stay open-minded and always seek truth.
