The Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments prepares students for careers creating sustainable built environments that align with their interests. In the General Emphasis, students are able to create their own specialized focus area from an approved list of emphasis courses with the consultation of advisors and expert faculty. The sustainability-focused emphasis courses span the subjects of architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, real estate development, and heritage conservation. These exciting combinations are an opportunity for students interested in pursuing careers in specialized areas such as urban agriculture (landscape architecture and urban planning), sustainable development and construction (architecture and real estate development), and adaptive building use and preservation (architecture and heritage conservation).

Majoring in World Literature exposes you to a variety of languages and cultures, providing a solid foundation for careers in industries locally or abroad. Students earning their Bachelor of Arts in World Literature gain advanced proficiency in at least one language other than English while cultivating cross-cultural literacy. An immersion in ancient and modern literature from a variety of regions broadens students' understanding of the human condition and the ideas and concepts that foster global connection. The B.A. in World Literature is a collaboration between the university's College of Humanities and College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The major sets students up for careers in media, tourism, international business and other positions for which well-rounded, empathetic individuals are in high demand.

As a journalist, you'll be at the forefront of a rapidly changing world that relies on a news cycle that runs 24/7. Journalism teaches the ins and outs of researching and reporting the news. The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism focuses on reporting the news for radio, television and multimedia outlets. The program of study touches on important aspects of journalism such as law and ethics before diving into hands-on learning. Broadcast majors write, report, fact-check, shoot, produce and edit hard-news features and in-depth stories for broadcast and the web, culminating in quality news reports that can be included on reels to share with prospective employers. Electives in digital media, such as drone videography or mobile app development, can further prepare students for this ever-evolving field. A second major or a minor in a specialized field, such as political science, religion or Middle Eastern studies, is required.

Learn to speak, read and understand Japanese fluently as an essential and transferable skill for those who wish to pursue a career in the global economy.The Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies allows students to focus on one of two areas: language or culture. The Japanese Language Intensive emphasis teaches language proficiency on three levels, from beginning to advanced, as well as offers specialized instruction in advanced reading, writing and conversation. Students might be asked to take a placement exam to determine their level. Upon graduation, students can communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with Japanese speakers. They also display competency in reading materials in Japanese. Additionally, the program provides enriching opportunities for study abroad.

Develop expert-level language proficiency in one of the largest and most influential global economies. In the Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies program, students select from one of two focuses in language or culture. The Chinese Language Intensive focus provides instruction on three levels, from beginning to advanced, plus specialized instruction in advanced reading, writing and conversation. Students learn to communicate effectively and read proficiently.  The department offers a summer study abroad program in Hangzhou, where students learn about China's dynamic Buddhist tea culture while staying in a monastery connected to the Hangzhou Buddhist Academy.

Emerging global health problems require a new generation of innovative thinkers who can identify trends and assess intervention options. The Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies with a Global Health and Development emphasis, adapted to real-world contingencies, prepares students to become these much-needed innovators. Coursework touches on topics from areas of study such as anthropology, geography, public health and regional studies to provide students with an understanding of global health priorities, as well as the history of health-related trends, priorities and intervention measures.

Middle East and North African Studies employs an interdisciplinary approach to learning about all aspects of this region. The Bachelor of Arts focuses on instruction in the principal languages of the area (Arabic, Persian, Turkish and Hebrew) and includes coursework in religion, political science, history, literature, geography, sociology, archaeology, linguistics and architecture. Students seek degrees in this department out of a genuine interest in this part of the world, often on a professional path to government service, academics, a position in international business or as preparation for advanced study in this or other fields.

• Students who earn a BA in MENAS will be able to achieve proficiency at the intermediate level in one of the languages of the Middle East and North Africa (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, or Turkish). Communicative proficiency is defined in accordance with the Standards for foreign language learning as developed by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). These are further analyzed below: i. To communicate in Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) languages, both orally and in writing, by engaging in interpersonal, interpretative, and presentational communication activities (Communication). ii. To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the MENA cultures through language activities such as written essays and oral presentations on cultural topics (Culture). iii. To make meaningful cross-cultural comparisons between two or more of the MENA cultures (Comparisons).

Be an agriscience teacher in the dynamic field of agriculture by educating the innovators and leaders of the future. The Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Technology Management and Education aims to discover solutions to the world's social, environmental, economic and resource challenges. Students who opt for the teaching emphasis prepare for a career in agricultural education in grades 9-12 and as FFA advisers, and also enjoy opportunities to educate the public in informal settings. The B.S. degree coursework runs the gamut from basic sciences - plant, soil and animal - to agricultural mechanics and the principles of the teaching-learning process. The program concludes with a 14-week student teaching internship at a cooperating center in Arizona.

The Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science equips students to design, implement and test programs that solve significant and meaningful problems. Students learn how to collaborate to develop large software systems and can explain the purpose, design and implementation of programs. Graduates are able to design and analyze algorithms and can evaluate the correctness and performance of computer programs. To earn this B.A., students must start as Pre-computer Science majors and complete a core set of classes. No application is required to progress from Pre-computer Science to Computer Science. The B.A. curriculum requires students to study a second language proficiency and take natural science courses.
