Graduate Certificate in Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Integrated Practice

This two-year conservatory program will give you practical experience in acting for the stage, mask work, play analysis, improv, and acting for the camera. You'll also take other specialized master classes and will work with professional artists on a graduating project that will come together as a professional production.

You'll be guided through a process of discovering a method of acting that brings out your full potential and you'll emerge with a deep understanding of Shakespeare, theatre history, movement for actors, and the business of acting. You'll emerge with a strong foundation for launching your professional career.

The Addictions and Mental Health one-year program will be beneficial for seasoned practitioners who are committed to maintaining currency, and/or who are seeking career advancement. Students who are newly graduated from post-secondary may also wish to enroll in this program to deepen their knowledge and skill base prior to entering the workforce. Opportunities to work in varying sectors such as child, adult, family and gerontology-based programs may broaden for students who complete this Graduate Certificate. The intent of this program will be to ready students to work in a variety of Human Services settings such as community programs, residential care, social service programs, early childhood and family centres, recreation and leisure services, gerontology programs, group homes as well as any other settings that support prevention, intervention and treatment of addictions and/or mental health.

Learning Outcomes

• Use a bio-psycho-spiritual framework when providing addictions and mental health services;
• Provide holistic, client-centred, gender-based, culturally relevant assessments and interventions to individuals, groups and families within social and cultural contexts across the lifespan;
• Integrate skills and knowledge from a range of frameworks and contexts in addictions, mental health and concurrent disorders to provide non-biased services to women and those from diverse and varied populations;

The Advanced Filmmaking program is an Ontario College Graduate Certificate program which builds upon the students previous diploma/degree skills by providing opportunities to work in cross-functional teams to create both narrative and documentary films, television productions, and other media. All phases of digital filmmaking will be experienced, including pre-production, production, and post-production. Students will collaborate with students in other College programs (television, acting, fashion, multimedia, music industry arts) in the creation of digital media products.

Learning Outcomes
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

• Create narrative and documentary films, television productions, and other media (such as webcasts) that illustrate the application of aesthetic and theoretical principles of filmmaking;
• Identify and develop stories and scripts for narrative and documentary films and other media, for both general and specific audiences;
• Plan and apply appropriate pre-production techniques to prepare for the efficient and cost-effective production of narrative and documentary films and other media;
• Produce and direct narrative and documentary films and other media to commercial, technical, legal and ethical standards by working independently or in a crew;
• Operate digital cameras, audio, editing and lighting equipment during the creation of documentary and narrative films and other media.
• Produce market-ready narrative and documentary films and other media by collaborating with post-production experts;
• Plan media-marketing/distribution strategies for a variety of venues and formats;
• Lead co-workers and others in all phases of film development, through the application of superior communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills.

The Motive Power Technician (Automotive) Diploma program is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program. The program is designed to develop graduates with essential advanced technical, organizational, interpersonal, administrative and managerial skills required for the automotive service industry as well as providing progressive and comprehensive learning experiences on internal combustion spark ignition engines, power trains and related modern vehicle systems. Students will learn to communicate effectively, diagnose and solve problems logically and to undertake responsible work tasks with a minimum of supervision.

Graduates may also be in a favourable status if they wish to apply for our alternative Motive Power Technician (Diesel) Diploma program. Credit for those courses that bridge our diploma programs will be granted; therefore, significantly reducing the requirements for this second Ontario College Diploma.

• Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, personal safety, and emission components and systems in compliance with manufacturers' recommendations.
• Diagnose and repair drive train components and systems in compliance with manufacturers' recommendations.
• Diagnose and repair suspension, steering, and brake components and systems in compliance with manufacturers' recommendations.
• Disassemble and assemble components to required specifications by applying workshop skills and knowledge of basic shop practices.select and use a variety of troubleshooting techniques and test equipment to assess electronic circuits, vehicle systems, and subsystems.

Fanshawe College’s Public Relations - Corporate Communications program is designed to prepare college and university graduates to enter the exciting and challenging world of communications. Students will hone their writing and presentation skills, learn the latest digital communication and web design techniques, and analyze public relations and ethics challenges.

A second-term field placement allows students to put these new skills to work. Students will make business contacts through professional associations and complete course work with a community focus. The curriculum is current, community-minded, and developed by professional communicators.

Skilled administrative support is vital to process business information accurately and to communicate effectively with fellow employees and the public. Five major areas of study are covered: oral and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, computer application skills, accounting ability and office procedures/production. As well, students are assisted in their improvement of "soft skills" such as listening, work ethic and team building.
Intermediate training in a variety of computer applications will be combined with understanding workplace behaviours and communication skills to prepare for a variety of entry-level office administration career opportunities. Utilizing these skills, students will be capable of producing documents and correspondence, presenting information, providing customer support, responding to routine inquiries, and supporting the management of a small organization or a department in a large organization.

Business - Payroll and Bookkeeping is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program. The program provides graduates with knowledge of 1) payroll and human resources practices including compensation and benefits, and 2) bookkeeping practices and related accounting software applications. Graduates will have met the educational requirements for the Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation and will have three advanced standing credits towards completion of the Certified Payroll Manager designation with the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA). In addition, graduates will have also completed the academic requirements for the Certified Bookkeeper designation with the Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping (CIB). Graduates will be well prepared for self-employment or for entry-level careers in accounting, bookkeeping, taxation and payroll administration in a variety of industries.

This program blends theory with hands-on application of theoretical principles delivered through course work and field practicum.  Students in this program will develop their knowledge and professional skills in areas such as child development and best practices in early childhood; the early childhood educator's role and responsibilities; the importance of play in children's learning; family involvement and curriculum design and implementation.

When the student graduates they will have the knowledge and necessary skills to work with children, families and community in the context of early learning and development programs for children from birth to age twelve. The student will be prepared to work in a variety of settings, including child care centres, early learning and family centres, Best Start programs, before and after school programs and with school boards.

Research and Evaluation (Co-Op) is an Ontario College Graduate Certificate program that supports students and professionals in developing sought-after research and program evaluation skills. Program evaluation in Canada is an expanding industry in terms of both its general use and the diversity of contexts in which it is applied. Students learn diverse social science research methods and apply them with the aim of program evaluation and optimization. Students also have the option to complete a co-operative work experience that will enhance the applicability of their skills to the workplace.

Co-operative Education

This three-year program provides students with a strong basic knowledge of Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology with focus on the concepts of air, water and waste water management. In particular, the program emphasizes in-depth training in the principles and procedures of measurement and analysis techniques, and legislation for air, water and waste.
