The program consists of four academic levels and eight months of co-op working in industry. The program prepares graduates for employment in areas such as numerically controlled machines programming, tool design, production planning, statistical process control, value engineering, advanced machining and maintenance engineering throughout the manufacturing industry. Modern numerically controlled CNC and CAD/CAM equipment is utilized in this program.

Other Information
Graduates of the two-year Manufacturing Engineering Technician (Co-op) Ontario College Diploma program may apply to Level 5 of the Manufacturing Engineering Technology (Co-op) program to complete the requirements for an Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Students wishing to continue into the Manufacturing Engineering Technology (Co-op) program must complete an "Application for Program Transfer" form available from the Office of the Registrar, Room E1012.
This program will be delivered over two years, which includes four academic levels and two 4-month co-op terms.
A CONNECT lab fee of $50.00 per academic term is included in the Additional Program Fees stated in the Fee Schedule. This fee helps cover costs associated with the delivery of the CONNECT mobile computing program.   

Co-operative Education
In order to be eligible for co-op, students must maintain a 2.0 GPA and be academically complete at the commencement of their co-op work term.

The Developmental Services Worker two-year diploma program prepares its graduates to support people with developmental disabilities so that these individuals may participate fully in their communities. DSW have the specialized knowledge and skills required to work with people with developmental disabilities across the life span.

Inherent to the role of a DSW is an ability to collaborate and build relationships with people with developmental disabilities and their families and to work with colleagues and members of inter-professional teams to facilitate a seamless network of support for people.

Courses focus on disabilities, person directed supports, inclusion and community resources, dual diagnosis, interpersonal skills, counselling, health, pharmacology, development, teaching and intervention strategies. Field placements in community agencies and/or schools are part of the curriculum.

Program evaluation in Canada is an expanding industry in terms of both its general use and the diversity of contexts in which it is applied. The Music Industry Arts program is a creative and practical environment that allows students to discover and develop the artistic, technical and business skills that will prepare them to compete in today's evolving music and entertainment industry.

The program approach is intensively hands-on, with professional recording, performance and lab facilities exclusively dedicated to student use.  Course content is wide and equally balanced between artist development and technical skills which accentuates experiential learning within the program. Course curricula is wide by design and includes: artist development, music publishing, entertainment law, copyright, sales and promotion, music theory, ear training, music writing and arranging, creative audio production techniques, functions of digital and analog consoles, audio recording/mixing, studio operation, design and management, audio for picture, as well as live audio production.  Computer literacy, audio and editing techniques relevant to the disciplines of music creation and audio post-production are offered through theory and practical applications. Advanced Diploma in Fire Inspection and Fire Safety Education

The Fire Inspection and Fire Safety Education program is an Ontario College Advanced Diploma that prepares graduates to enter the fire service in the field of fire prevention.

The program provides a foundation in fire science and fire mathematics. It also provides comprehensive coverage of relevant codes and legislation (e.g., Ontario Fire Code and the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, the Ontario Building Code and the Building Code Act).

The core vocational curriculum is aligned with several professional credentials offered by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA): Fire Inspector I and II, Fire and Life Safety Educator I and II, and Public Information Officer. Students will also graduate with the communication skills and interpersonal skills they need to function as leaders in the fire service and in the community.  

Learning Outcomes:

  • Conduct field inspections of new or existing single- and multi-use structures to determine code compliance and to evaluate fire protection systems and equipment (e.g., occupancy classification and occupant loads; hazardous conditions involving equipment, processes and operations; emergency planning and preparedness procedures; storage, handling and use of hazardous materials, and flammable and combustible liquids and gases; egress and emergency access; fire flows and fire growth potential).
  • Prepare clear and concise field inspection reports and plan review reports based on applicable codes, standards, policies and procedures of the jurisdiction.

  • Investigate and resolve common and complex complaints, recording the complaint information and ensuring the investigation process is initiated and the complaint resolved in accordance with applications codes and standards and the policies and procedures of the jurisdiction.
  • Identify the applicable code or standard in response to a fire protection, fire prevention or life safety issue, including those identified in plan review, and recommend modifications to address the problem, need or deficiency in an inspection report or inspection order.
  • Participate in legal proceedings, in consultation with legal counsel, regarding the findings of a field inspection, plan review or complaint.
  • Review building plans for compliance with applicable codes and standards for fire and life safety (e.g., occupancy classification, occupant load, construction type, construction features, fire protection systems), and verify newly constructed buildings against an approved set of plans and building features
  • Recommend policies and procedures for inspection and plan review to ensure inspections and plan review are conducted in accordance with the policies of the jurisdiction and due process of the law is followed.
  • Coordinate fire and life safety educational activities by establishing priorities, preparing budgets, scheduling activities, communicating with stakeholders, and documenting activities.
  • Develop public policy recommendations for management to address a specific fire or injury issue.
  • Identify and collaborate with partners and community resources, services and organizations to meet community fire and life safety needs and address current issues, submitting requests for resources were required.
  • Design, implement, evaluate and revise a fire and life safety education program that is based on a comprehensive educational strategy, target audience needs, and program goals.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for fire and life safety subordinates using written performance criteria and following organizational policies.
  • Coordinate media relations (e.g., media interviews, media areas, news releases, media advisories, news conferences) using appropriate communication strategies and technologies.

This program will ready graduates for jobs in growth areas of Applied Biotechnology such as pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, agriculture, bioremediation, the fermentation industry, research and development to name a few. Students will study molecular biology, physical, organic and instrumental chemistry, applied biotechnology, microbiology, virology, toxicology; and related societal, economic, ethical, legal, and environmental issues.
