Program Highlights
Beyond the technician level training, computer engineering technologists add analysis, design, project management and enhanced applied technology skills. You'll apply this knowledge to the analysis and design of complex computer systems and networks. You will also develop more self-sufficiency and better critical thinking skills.
You'll have open access beyond classroom time to our lab facilities - time to explore and learn, hands-on. Your ability to work effectively as a member of a technical team will also be further developed through course studies and a full-semester team-based project.

There is no other program like this in Canada. Positioned at the convergence of science and art, the Environmental Visual Communication program is designed to fill a recognized need for individuals who are passionate about environmental issues and storytelling and who want to effectively engage people to foster change.

With a focus on strategic messaging and technical savvy, you will learn to use photography, videography, multimedia and design principles to bridge environmental competencies with thoughtful communication through diverse media channels. The program takes place in a truly unique learning environment - at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in downtown Toronto.

Throughout the Environmental Visual Communication (EVC) program, you will learn how to identify strategies to inform and educate, garner engagement and support, and build and share campaigns to address conservation issues.

Equipped with hybrid skills and a sense of active environmental stewardship, graduates of this innovative, integrated, and applied program will be able to connect ideas among diverse groups and tell compelling stories with fluency.

Solutions to long-term sustainability are not found solely in the realm of science. Environmental visual communication is an emerging field and its practitioners are key leaders who, through collaboration and deliverables, can build bridges between science and society. As a graduate of this program, you will be able to:

• Evaluate global environmental issues, and articulate the relevance of such issues to various stakeholder groups and the general public
• Interpret information and underlying meaning presented in the form and content of a visual image using knowledge of symbols and semantics of visual literacy
• Create innovative photographs, videos, and multimedia pieces that convey a compelling conservation message across a variety of platforms
• Direct and influence marketing and branding strategy in conservation campaigns that bridge gaps between collaborators to strengthen alliances with scientists, NGOs, government agencies, and educational institutions
• Manage and disseminate image and video files, including facilitation of online presence using knowledge of digital workflow techniques

In the Protection, Security and Investigation (PSI) program you will develop the knowledge, skills and capabilities to work in a wide variety of roles. You will become skilled in how to be a leader, how to manage and develop recreation programs, do marketing, manage human resources, plan and conduct research, special event management and facilities operations. Besides these managerial skills, you'll need to be able to work at the grassroots level to bring appropriate recreational and leisure programming to the community. Training in community development, leisure and lifestyle enhancement, and inclusive recreation are important aspects of your program. To top off your studies in the "how" and "why" of recreation and leisure services, and tailor your learning to your career interest, you'll put it all into practice with a semester-long placement at the end of your program.

Work Experience
Your four-month placement offers you an intensive, challenging opportunity to put your skills into practice. You choose the location and setting, your instructors will encourage you as you find and negotiate your placement. You can do your placement locally, provincially, across Canada or in an international setting.

You'll work with community-based agencies (of your choice) on real -- not simulated -- recreation/leisure projects. This will be valuable learning for later, when you're looking for a job. Your placement could be working with youth at risk, with seniors, in outdoor education programs, fitness organizations/centres, children's programs, schools, resorts or municipal settings. There are few limitations as to where you can do your placement. For example, Fleming has a unique partnership with the Resort, Recreation and Tourism Management Student Internship Program in the United States that students can take advantage of. You can work as an activity coordinator at a resort or prepare for a career on a cruise ship.

For your placement, field agencies may require you to submit a current police records check, which is available from your local police department upon payment of a fee. In addition, you may also be required to provide a current Standard First Aid Certificate, and a current Basic CPR Certificate (level C).

In just 10 months you can add a Diploma in Recreation and Leisure Services to your existing college diploma or university degree, by enrolling in this accelerated program.

Through hands-on training, you will learn to develop and manage recreation programs to work in this challenging and rewarding field. In the final semester, get connected to the recreation industry thorough an experiential field placement at a site of your choice, that can be in Ontario, in Canada or in an international location.

The three-year Business Administration - Accounting program provides the opportunity to:

• Participate in an extensive accounting industry work placement; gain valuable hands-on experience and make important contacts to help you get started in your career.
• Take courses common to all Business Administration students at Fleming in semester one, and acquire a solid overview of business practices.
• Specialize in the training you'll need to pursue your career as an accountant in semesters three through six
• Pursue an advanced accounting certification (ACAF) with transfer credits

Students who choose to complete the three-year Business Administration – Accounting program gain additional hands–on learning experience in their final year. This applied learning focus prepares students to enter the workforce directly after completing the advanced diploma. They can also go on to pursue their degree, and ultimately their CPA designation, through our many transfer agreements with universities, listed below.

New Work - Integrated Learning Experience:
We have re-designed the program's applied learning component that takes place in semesters five and six. Put your education to the test in a new, innovative work-integrated learning experiences including a capstone course where you will complete an entire accounting cycle for a small, private corporation, and a 14-week work placement with a private, public sector, or not-for-profit organization.

Get additional direct experience while giving something back to local communities. Students will also have the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge and hone their interpersonal and communication skills through participation in the Canada Revenue Volunteer Income Tax Preparation Program. Students will utilize tax software to prepare and e-file tax returns for eligible Kawartha Lake residents.
