Psychology is the science of human thought, behaviour and emotion. All that we think, feel and do is a possible topic for psychological study. Psychology applies its knowledge to human activity in order to improve lives and alleviate suffering.

At UNB, we offer a broad spectrum of research areas in psychology, including: human sexuality, depression, feminist perspectives, Autism, women’s studies, internet and gambling addictions, gender and laterality, pain assessment and management, infant and adolescent development, cultural psychology, self-concept and identity, bilingualism and cognitive neuroscience.

Areas of specialization

• Concentration in Venture Commercialization, Scaling, and Investment: UNB's Faculty of Management is a hub for entrepreneurial learning. Work with a real-life start-up and learn how to launch a business; then work with real venture capitalists to learn how to assess whether a start-up is investment-ready.
• Concentration in Management Analytics: Increased digitization is drastically changing the way organizations operate, creating a huge need for graduates who are tech savvy and capable of making sense of the vast amount of data available. Russian and Eurasian Studies is an interdisciplinary major and minor program administered by a committee drawn from the departments involved in the program. Interested students should first contact the Director who is the representative from the Russian section of the Department of Culture and Language Studies.

PROGRAMS OF STUDY

• Major in Russian and Eurasian Studies
  • A major in Russian and Eurasian Studies shall consist of a minimum of 30 ch of advanced level courses relating to Russia and the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. To qualify to enter this program, students must first have satisfactorily completed 6 ch in the Russian language at the introductory level (RUSS 1013 and RUSS 1023 ) and 6 ch at the intermediate level (RUSS 2013 and RUSS 2023). The 30 ch for the Major will be selected from the list below and must meet the following requirements:

The Faculties of Arts and Science at UNB in Fredericton work together to offer a combined arts and science four-year degree program. The BAS is a joint degree in Arts and Science. It provides you with an in-depth scientific education, as well as an understanding of people and the analytical and critical thinking skills acquired in an Arts degree.

In the Chemical Engineering program at UNB, you’ll learn how to transform raw materials into useful products while protecting the environment, managing resources, and meeting strict health and safety standards. You’ll also explore chemical processes that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase safety and security. Examples include the development of more affordable drugs, more efficient fuels, and better pollution controls. In other words, you’ll explore ways to make the world a better place. 

Chemical Engineering is available as a major in the Bachelor of Science in Engineering program. Two option programs within the technical electives stream are available: Energy Conversion Engineering and Biomedical Engineering.

Earth Sciences is the natural science that deals with Earth, the interior make-up, and superficial features, its formative and destructive pro­cesses, its age, history and development through time.

Geologists are concerned with a diverse range of issues such as the origin, migration and quality of groundwater, river and coastal erosion, desert-dune migration, the origin and evolution of oceans and continents, of mountain ranges, valleys and canyons. Studies concerning the causes and effects of natural hazards, such as those created by land and rockslides, earthquakes, floods and droughts, and volcanic eruptions all fall within the realm of Geology.

The Faculty of Science is one of the university’s oldest faculties and was established when UNB was founded in 1785. Our faculty has an outstanding reputation, both nationally and internationally, and as a student you will be able to benefit from its stellar accomplishments in research and for its acclaimed graduate and nationally-accredited undergraduate degree programs. The Law in Society program explores the intimate relationship between law and contemporary societies. The program allows students to study this relationship from an interdisciplinary perspective that may include the philosophic, historic, political, economic and sociological foundations of law.
