Humber’s Media Communications diploma program is designed to meet industry demands within multi-faceted areas of the communications industry. Students graduate with a diverse range of marketable skills in photography, graphic design, web design and writing, social media, and videography.

In the program, you will learn how to:

The Industrial Woodworking Technician diploma program (located at the Humber Centre for Trades & Technology) provides you with the knowledge and skills to construct and install basic cabinets, as well as build traditional furniture using recognized trade practices. By completing a series of woodworking projects, students explore various types of joinery and construction techniques using hand tools, portable power tools, stationary machines, as well as computer-based technologies. Time management skills and the ability to work to a deadline are developed and stressed throughout the program. Graduates of the program will be able to produce shop drawings, calculate a list of materials, cut out and assemble basic cabinetry or furniture, and apply a finish. Graduates are able to safely operate most common stationary woodworking machinery, as well as program and run a number of CNC machines.

You will acquire strong fundamental knowledge to help you build a career in all new and emerging technologies manufactured here in North America like photonics, laser technology, medical imaging, new electronic materials and devices, intelligent systems, entertainment, and broadcasting systems. The program takes a system design and integration approach to electronic applications, and you will gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on training in:

We have designed the curriculum in collaboration with an advisory panel comprising highly successful industry experts in order to ensure you are learning the most up-to-date, relevant material. You will spend approximately half your time in labs working with electronic, analog, digital and programmable circuits and learning how to embed these circuits into cell phones, audio equipment, high-definition (HD) video systems, robots, computers and advanced instruments.

This program offers a co-op option. Co-op work terms enable you to apply your skills and knowledge in a work environment and gain valuable, practical experience related to your program of study. You will learn new skills, learn about the world of work and meet people in your profession. For students who are accepted into the program, three co-op work terms will take place. The first four-month work term is between Semesters 2 and 3, and then two consecutive four-month work terms between Semesters 4 and 5. There are limited spaces in the co-op option. Therefore, you will apply for the co-op option during Semester 1 and be informed of the process by which to apply.  While co-op work opportunities are not guaranteed, as students are in a competitive job placement market, participating students will receive a wide range of services to help them find a co-op opportunity.

Round out your interior decorating education with instruction in mechanical, electrical, plumbing services and building methods including residential finishes, computer drafting, sketching interiors and digital communications.

The interior decorating program offers an optional work placement to all students who choose to enrol in this opportunity. The work placement requirement is a minimum of 240 hours, following Semester 2. Students who enrol in January have a slightly modified option to gain the mandatory hours.

Interior decorators work with clients and consult on programming through to installation phases. Components selection encompasses style, colour schemes, space plan layouts, elevations perspective sketches, lighting, furniture, floor finishes, wall finishes, kitchen and bathroom design, accessories, and many more details. Interior decorators can provide conceptual sketches, computer-aided design and drafting (CADD), generated working drawings, and other design-related essentials to their clients including product specification, as well as cost estimates. Decorators can also choose from other career avenues including window display, event planning, décor magazines, television work, home staging and much more. Humber graduates have gone on to become interior decorating magazine editors-in-chief, featured magazine interior decorators, TV personalities with their own show, guest TV decorators, newspaper feature article leaders, interior decorating business owners, event planners, managers of decorating retail stores, design consultants and buyers to name but a few.

Humber's 3D Modelling and Visual Effects Production certificate program focuses on both the conceptual and the technical, as you learn to master visual techniques to bring ideas to life.
