All of our professors have been active in the field within the past five years. Their curriculum is cutting edge and provides a strong theoretical and practical foundation for your future career. You'll learn to develop and implement a range of prevention, intervention and treatment strategies based on a foundational understanding of human development, family systems and cultural diversity.

Hands-on experience
You'll complete four semesters of field practicum in two locations that may include youth justice, foster homes, shelters, residential treatment facilities and community outreach programs. Three days each week will be spent in the field, and the other two days will include a unique lab class and complementary course work, lending support to your field experience.

Conceive, Design, Implement and Operate
Theory is important, but so is the opportunity to put it into practice. Because our electrical engineering degree is one of the few in Canada that embrace the CDIO Initiative (Conceive, Design, Implement and Operate), you’ll spend up to 50% of your class time working in labs. By using the systems you build, you'll learn what it takes to imagine and develop user-friendly solutions.

Specialize in Energy or Mechatronics
In the third and fourth years of your electrical engineering courses, you'll have the opportunity to specialize in one of two technical streams — energy or mechatronics. Our energy stream prepares you for work in the electrical utility sector. In the mechatronics stream, you'll gain the skills necessary to work in the fields of automation and instrumentation.

The need for skilled welders is growing in Canada. Sheridan's welding programs offer superior training and a pathway into this highly desirable trade. You'll get a thorough, practical education in the most current welding techniques and theories. Upon graduation, you'll be qualified to enter an apprenticeship as a welder, boilermaker, pipefitter, steamfitter, millwright or sheet-metal mechanic.

Canadian Welding Bureau certification:-
Our welding programs provide opportunities for Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certification. Welding and Fabrication Technician diploma students may challenge structural steel tests in four welding processes to obtain up to 13 licences. In our 1-year Welding Techniques certificate program, students may test in three welding processes in the flat position to obtain up to three licences.

Our Business Administration – Accounting program provides a balance of theoretical studies, hands-on learning and specialized courses.

Learn how accounting supports business
Businesses rely on accountants to monitor their performance, compliance and financial health. Your first year will involve common curriculum shared by all business administration students, providing you with an understanding of how companies work. Topics of study include communications, finance, human resources and marketing — all areas of business you’ll impact as an accountant.

Specialize your skills through electives
Study advanced accounting principles that aren’t covered in our two-year Business Accounting program! In your final year, you can master skills essential for employment in the field’s more demanding positions. Choose from a broad selection of electives, including courses in tax, auditing, budgeting, business analysis and financial statement preparation.

Optional accounting co-op placement
Enjoy the opportunity to earn while you learn! All advanced diploma students have the option of gaining more than 1,000 hours of work experience through a co-op work term. Co-op is a competitive program and you’ll need to meet certain academic requirements to participate. Connections you build during your work term may lead to employment opportunities after you graduate.

Learn from industry experts
Sheridan’s accounting professors are actively involved in the industry, presenting at conferences and contributing to publications of accounting textbooks and articles. Many also hold the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) designation and maintain strong ties with the business community, which may assist you with obtaining a co-op work term.

In this program, you'll experiment with five subject areas — chemistry, engineering, architecture, information technology and trades — helping you decide what you want to focus on in your career.

Prepare for a technology or trades program
This program will also help you meet the admission requirements for technology diploma programs. You'll upgrade your skills and academic experience, which will help you to be successful in any technology or trades program you choose.

It takes more than lectures and textbooks to prepare you to work with real-life clients. Apply knowledge acquired from your kinesiology degree in a clinical environment through a blend of problem-based learning and supervised placements. When you graduate, you’ll be armed with 728 hours of hands-on experience — more than you’ll get in any other kinesiology program in Ontario.

Every client is different, presenting unique challenges that require unique solutions. Learn how to plan, implement and evaluate programs that are customized to meet their complex needs, grounded in coaching and communication strategies that build confidence and keep them motivated. You’ll also develop the skills needed to run your own clinic in a sustainable, ethical and professional manner.

Be supported by exercise science experts
Professors in this program also teach in Sheridan’s kinesiology degree and have real-world experience working with clients in many capacities — including clinical exercise rehab, chronic disease prevention and management, injury rehab, high performance, and strength and conditioning. They will closely guide you through problem-based curriculum specifically designed for clinical professionals.

Sheridan's Computer Programming diploma program offers highly marketable skills in the field of information technology.

We offer a well-respected computer programming college credential that will give you many workplace options and pathways to further study.

In this program, you’ll learn from professors and guest speakers who have considerable experience in family therapy, policy development, social work, social justice and other social service fields. You’ll gain a solid skills foundation through a laboratory practicum, and you’ll develop plans for starting and running a service organization.

Hands-on experience
The Social Service Worker program maintains connections with hundreds of organizations – including community-based organizations, group homes, children's aid organizations and youth centres – that welcome our students for their Year 2 practicum placements. You'll complete more than 600 hours of field placement in a social service setting, reinforcing the practical skills you've learned in class.

The two-year program focuses on technical and professional skills required to work in a variety of Health Service settings. You will learn to use specialized medical software, OHIP billing, electronic calendaring and scheduling, and communication software applications.

Medical Simulation or Field Placement
When you have successfully completed the first three terms and have met a prescribed GPA, you have the option of choosing either a Medical Simulation course or Field Placement (two days per week). Both options prepare you for entry-level administrative support positions in a medical office or setting. This is an excellent opportunity to gain work experience and evaluate different career paths.
